Background
Qici spent his early years killing heavily and making enemies throughout the world. His reputation made established sects and prominent families reluctant to associate their talented disciples with him, forcing him to travel in search of a suitable successor. He later devoted much of his wealth and effort to relief work and protecting common people rather than accumulating personal resources. 124 156 303
He discovered Li Cunxiao after observing that the nineteen-year-old possessed and controlled eight demonic entities—an unprecedented situation in Qici's experience. Convinced that Li could uphold the righteous path, he accepted him as a disciple. 120 125
At Tian Gu Temple, Qici deliberately assigned Li Cunxiao to the filthy Butchery Room. The placement was a test: Qici wanted to learn whether Li would resent hardship and unequal treatment, or seek to improve himself without losing his resolve. 125
Qici's relationship with True Lord Taiyi began as a rivalry over Li Cunxiao's cultivation. Taiyi secretly taught Li the Burning Wood Saber, prompting Qici to confront him. The two later reached an understanding and jointly supported Li's growth when the conditions for cultivating both Buddhist and Daoist paths became possible. 183 205
Appearance
Qici usually appears as a plump, cheerful monk carrying a cloth sack. He has kind eyebrows, a benevolent smile, and an openly exposed chest, giving him an approachable demeanor despite his formidable cultivation. 194 207
- Usually described as a fat monk with a round belly. 167 194
- Carries the Leopard Skin Pouch/cloth bag associated with his Maitreya lineage. 207 281
- Can reveal a drastically different, slender form with delicate features by unfurling a human-skin scroll. 334
Personality
Qici is compassionate and strongly committed to protecting ordinary people. He repeatedly acts against the Ming Cult and other threats without seeking personal gain, even though his relief work has left him with limited resources. 156 163 303
He is also discerning and calculating. Qici tests Li Cunxiao's character before fully trusting him, distributes resources gradually to prevent complacency, and negotiates with Taiyi when cooperation better serves his disciple's future. 125 183 206
Despite his age and standing, he remains competitive—particularly where Taiyi is concerned. He resents Taiyi's attempts to influence Li Cunxiao's path and is determined to raise Li beyond his own former limits. 175 182
Abilities & Skills
Great Vajrabhairava Sutra
Qici's principal inheritance is the Great Vajrabhairava Sutra, a divine Buddhist skill of the Western Boundless Life Buddha's Command Wheel Body lineage. Its manifested form is a wrathful Ming King with six faces, six arms, and six legs. 199
- Severs demonic obstacles and subdues poisonous dragons. 199
- Allows Qici to command a vast hierarchy of demonic entities through his True Self and Divine Mansion. 199
- Is intended as Li Cunxiao's future path for breaking through the Mysterious Pass once his Heavenly Ladder cultivation reaches Perfection. 199
Martial Arts Mastery
Qici has cultivated more than one hundred martial arts. He teaches Li Cunxiao the principles of Divine Mansions: a True Self must remain central and govern the many demonic entities created through cultivation. 199
- Taught Li Cunxiao the Fire Hell Avici Spear and supplied the Purple Flame Snake Lance Trident through Dezheng. 147
- Taught Li Cunxiao the Great Asura Blade Technique, including its method of transforming greed, anger, and ignorance into three demon heads. 199 200
- Planned Li Cunxiao's Five-Element martial path, including the Void Yaksha Saber, Immovable Black Dragon Sword, and Great Asura Blade Technique. 182
Naga Heavenly Scripture
Qici possesses the Most Secret Nara/Naga Heavenly Scripture, a supreme method suited to Li Cunxiao's unusual condition. The scripture transforms a Yaksha demonic entity into a celestial True Self and permits the refinement of up to eight demonic entities. 134 136
- Guided Li Cunxiao toward the Celestial Transformation that formed the Guardian Yaksha General Nezha True Self. 134 145
- Enables a superior True Self to replace lower-level demonic entities, allowing dependent demons to be differentiated for further martial arts. 147
- Lets its practitioner turn accumulated inner demons into combat power through the three heads and eight arms of the Asura path. 200
Grandmaster Combat
Qici is a Grandmaster capable of directly confronting other Grandmasters and Human Demons. During the Dragon Boat Secret Realm incident, he protected Li Cunxiao from the shockwaves of a high-level battle by confining them within a three-foot radius. 222

- Confronted Wenzhongzi, the former Great Zhou Confucian Grandmaster, while seeking a way to restore his consciousness. 222
- Participated in the siege against Qin Fengquan and other Human Demons within the Dragon Boat Secret Realm. 224
Guidance and Assessment
Qici possesses exceptional knowledge of demon-seeding martial arts, the progression of martial realms, and the risks of concurrent cultivation. He explains that the early martial realms are fundamentally methods of controlling demons, while True Form requires a martial artist to seize a demonic entity's abilities without surrendering their true heart. 187
- Evaluates Li Cunxiao's cultivation speed and foundation rather than merely rewarding raw talent. 143 173
- Provides pills and cultivation resources, including a Qi Burst Pill for opening meridians. 183
- Monitors Li's use of Malevolent Qi and warns him against overextending himself. 343
