In the brightly lit, glass-walled, high-tech office, Thor, his face framed by a thick beard and long golden hair draped over his shoulders, paced back and forth anxiously in broad strides. He wore black armor, and the crimson cape behind him billowed constantly.
From time to time, he looked up, his eyes filled with an unshakable anxiety as he called for his father.
But there was no response.
At times, he worried that calling for his father might distract him in battle. That only made him more anxious. He kept pacing in large strides, his crimson cape whipping wildly behind him, his steps stirring the air around him. His face was tense, his brows deeply furrowed. He was impatient and irritable, yet forced himself to endure.
Beside him, He-El accepted a steaming cup of Brazilian coffee from a mechanical hand. It was served in a small porcelain saucer with a white porcelain cup.
He-El held the saucer in his left hand and lightly grasped the cup's handle with his right. The rich aroma of coffee seeped into his nose, its steam warming his face. He brought his lips to the rim, took a small sip, and calmly watched Thor pace about in anxiety.
"Pacing around like this won't help," He-El said, setting the cup onto its saucer.
Thor stopped, his face anxious as he frowned at He-El. "Do you have a way to send me back to Asgard?"
"Unfortunately, with the technology I have here right now, no." He-El gently shook his head.
Everything required time. Given enough time, He-El could naturally build a transportation device capable of traveling between Asgard and Earth.
But asking He-El to produce one immediately was simply asking the impossible.
