Background / History
The Wind Moon Sect is the dominant cultivation power in the region around Red Maple Valley. Foundation Establishment families—including the Qi, Murong, Ye, and Xiao families—live under its rule and must avoid provoking it. 5 6
Its authority was starkly demonstrated after a Secret Realm appeared southwest of Red Maple Valley. The sect sealed off the area, prompting nearby families to restrict travel; it later destroyed the Xiao Family with several Foundation Establishment cultivators and warships, killing nearly two hundred people including the family’s Foundation Establishment Ancestor. 9 10 11
The sect’s prestige rests primarily on True Sword Master Xuanjian, its sole Grand Elder and a Core Formation Realm Sword Cultivator capable of threatening ordinary Core Formation cultivators. His advancing age and seclusion to attempt a Nascent Soul breakthrough created a succession crisis, since the sect would be left without Core Formation protection if he failed or died. 27 85 136
Territory & Facilities
- Wind Moon Lake — The sect’s headquarters, a mist-covered lake surrounded by mountains and water islands. Its spiritual vein may be Tier 3. 29
- Wind Spirit Mountain and Moon Shadow Mountain — The two famed mountains from which the sect takes its name. Xuanjian’s cave dwelling is said to be on Moon Shadow Mountain. 29
- Inner Sect — Located on higher-grade spirit-vein peaks around the lake. Inner Affairs Peak and its Inner Affairs Hall handle internal matters, including residence assignments. 30
- Outer Sect — Occupies a much broader area around Wind Moon Lake but has poorer spiritual qi than the inner sect. 61
- Western Spirit Stone Mine — An important sect asset beneath the Black Mountain Range, worked by menial disciples, convicted cultivators, hired rogue cultivators, and struggling family members. 81
- Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Great Formation — The sect-protecting, third-order top-grade formation. It sustained the sect during a prolonged siege by Heavenly Soul Hall, but required immense resources to maintain. 198 199
Organization
Leadership
- True Sword Master Xuanjian — Sole Grand Elder; a Core Formation Sword Cultivator whose strength deterred rival sects for years. 27 136
- Situ Jiang — Sect Master and Xuanjian’s subordinate. He directs sect strategy, personally mentors Qi Chuan, and later chooses to attempt False Core cultivation to defend the sect. 74 169 170
- Foundation Establishment Elders — The sect has relatively few Foundation Establishment Elders. They lead major missions, supervise disciples, and act as the sect’s principal field forces. 91 127
- True Disciples — Elite disciples selected through competition; there were eleven in total when Qi Chuan was concealing his identity. 74 101
Recruitment & Advancement
The sect periodically opens its mountain gate to recruit. Cultivation families receive a small number of Inner Sect quotas, while most rogue cultivators enter as Outer Disciples or general service disciples; exceptional rogue cultivators with clean backgrounds and strong aptitude may enter the Inner Sect. 3 30 32
Inner Sect residences are assigned through a draw linked to a peak-model magic tool. Tier 1 Mid-grade spirit veins are the normal standard for new Inner Sect disciples. 30
Inner Sect disciples are required to complete three sect missions per year. 32
Major Events
Secret Realm Prohibition
When a Secret Realm emerged near Red Maple Valley, the sect sealed the region and forced surrounding families to exercise extreme caution. The resulting unrest demonstrated that even Foundation Establishment families could be destroyed for threatening sect interests. 9 10 11
Qi Chuan’s Admission and Rise
Qi Chuan entered the sect through a Qi Family Inner Sect quota, while Qi Chan’er and two other Qi Family recruits entered the Outer Sect. 27 30
After winning the True Disciple Selection by revealing two hundred Top-grade Tier 1 Five Elements Talismans, Qi Chuan became the youngest True Disciple in sect history. Situ Jiang accepted him as a personal disciple and provided Tier 2 talisman knowledge, a Barrier Breaking Pill, and a Red Jade Cosmic Bag. 74
Qi Chuan later reached Foundation Establishment, became an Elder, and received the incomplete Profound Heaven Spirit Devouring Sword Art from Situ Jiang. 87
Conflict with Heavenly Soul Hall
The sect dispatched forces to annihilate the Ye Family at Mystic Leaf Mountain, with Qi Chuan and other True Disciples pursuing its fleeing cultivators after the family formation was broken. 79 80
Hostilities with Heavenly Soul Hall intensified through border clashes and fighting around the Western Spirit Stone Mine. At the mine, Qi Chuan’s arrival and immediate execution of Heavenly Soul Hall Elder Lin Sha bolstered Wind Moon Sect morale and forced Heavenly Soul Hall to reassess the sect’s strength. 82 91 93
The two sects later entered a temporary truce after a spatial disturbance dragged their cultivators into a Secret Realm. Situ Jiang and Heavenly Soul Hall Master Tian Hunzi agreed to explore its central mountain together, initially sending Qi Refining disciples ahead. 94 95
Langya Spirit Realm Expedition
The Wind Moon Sect sent Situ Jiang, eight Elders, and Qi Chuan—publicly introduced as outside aid—to compete in the Langya Spirit Realm for Heavenly Gang Qi and other resources. 146
After entering the realm, the sect retained eight of its ten participants, losing only one Foundation Establishment Middle Stage cultivator. Its relatively intact lineup gave it an advantage over several competing sects. 159 160
Situ Jiang ultimately secured the Heavenly Gang Qi and bestowed it, its refinement method, and accompanying rare items upon Qi Chuan for a future Core Formation attempt. 169
Sect War
With Xuanjian’s condition uncertain and Heavenly Soul Hall increasingly convinced that the sect lacked Core Formation protection, Situ Jiang prepared to send younger Elders, True Disciples, and Inner Sect disciples away as a safeguard for the sect’s future. 169 170
Heavenly Soul Hall later began an open Sect War and besieged Wind Moon Lake for three years. The Wind Spirit Moon Shadow Great Formation held back the attackers despite heavy resource consumption, until a Tier 3 Top-grade Formation Breaking Talisman was used to shatter it and open the sect to invasion. 198 199 200

- Ye Family — A powerful local cultivation family annihilated by sect forces for harboring treacherous designs. 79 80
