"I know one of them has no classes today and is resting in the dorms. I'll take you there."
Director Ou opened the door and was about to lead Fang Ling away.
"What about Man Yun and me?" Lin Tianyang immediately asked.
"Go notify the other teachers to stop the pursuers. We can't let Little Fang Ling's plan be ruined."
"She definitely didn't come alone. Even if she's that stupid, the City Lord's people aren't."
With that, Director Ou took Fang Ling along a shortcut toward the Teacher Dormitory.
At the Teacher Dormitory complex, he slapped the gate of a small courtyard. "Smack! Smack!"
"Hua Changshou, get out here! I need you for something urgent."
A bald, broad-shouldered Soul Master with a sturdy build walked out of the house in rather disheveled clothes, yawning.
"Vice Principal? I don't think I have class today."
Director Ou said, "It's not about class. I need your help with something."
"Come, let me explain..."
Meanwhile, on the only road leading into the academy.
The two sides were locked in a standoff.
The academy's side was led by a plump old man with black hair and purple eyes.
After Martial Soul Possession, he took the form of a humanoid Great Wild Boar, with dark black bristles like steel needles, thick rough pigskin, and two long tusks protruding from his mouth.
The five Soul Rings around him, perfectly matched in age, declared that he was a Soul King.
He was Liu Yueban, the academy's director in charge of combat instruction. He was also the principal's friend and had watched Lin Tianyang grow up.
His genius disciple, the academy's combat prodigy, was in trouble. How could he possibly stand by?
Lin Tianyang and Shu Manyun stood behind him to one side.
More than a dozen Soul Ancestor teachers had also revealed their Soul Rings and blocked the road.
Some Soul Elder teachers were constantly rushing over as well.
They had dared to come to the academy for revenge. If they were truly strong, then fine—they would endure it.
But what did the City Lord's Mansion amount to?
They were merely the principal's defeated subordinates.
And they actually dared send people to storm the academy?
The leader of the City Lord's Mansion was also a five-ring Soul King.
Vermilion feathers covered his entire body, with sharp claws and a keen bird beak.
Most eye-catching of all was the bald patch on his head, bright red like blood.
This man was An Zailong, the brother of An Yufei, the beautiful woman who had flown into the academy earlier.
He served at the City Lord's Mansion.
Nine well-trained Soul Masters stood behind him: three Soul Ancestors and six Soul Elders.
Though they were well-trained, the difference in cultivation was right there.
Compared to the academy's dozen-plus Soul Ancestor teachers, their momentum was far weaker.
"Commander An, you've crossed the line today!"
The aura radiating from Liu Yueban was exceptionally cold.
There was not a trace of emotion in his narrowed eyes.
His Soul Rings flashed, and he stomped heavily on the ground. A powerful shockwave surged toward the opposing side.
Since the academy had been founded, this was the first time someone had forcibly broken in to murder someone.
They wanted to kill the principal's son's disciple, a genius student who had won more than a dozen consecutive Life and Death Battles!
How could they be so arrogant?
They had come to murder someone for revenge after losing a Life and Death Battle at the Great Soul Arena. Weren't they afraid of becoming the laughingstock of the city?
Commander An gave a bitter smile. "My apologies, Director Liu. We didn't come to kill Fang Ling."
"My sister was blinded by her son's death. I came to take her back."
"Take her back?" Liu Yueban sneered, his aura flaring at full force. "She injured a Guard, forcibly broke into the academy, and tried to kill one of our genius students."
"You think you can take her away with just a few empty words? Where in the world is there such a good deal?"
"Director Liu, I..." Commander An tried to explain.
"Get them! We'll settle this with our fists!"
At Liu Yueban's command, he charged forward at high speed.
Then, everyone eagerly began to attack.
Every teacher at War King Academy was skilled in combat.
They had the numbers on their side. Why wouldn't they make a move?
While the only road into the academy was ablaze with battle, Fang Ling's side presented an entirely different scene.
It was rather leisurely.
He found an open patch of ground, laid down a mat, and relaxed in the sun.
He shook one leg while humming an unknown little tune.
Combined with the occasional noisy chatter of students around him, it gave off an oddly carefree feeling.
The bald teacher was also sitting not far away, resting.
"When do you think the person trying to kill you will come?"
"I..." Fang Ling was just about to say he didn't know when a flash of red suddenly appeared in his vision.
"She's here!"
He was War King Academy's only disabled student, and he had deliberately placed himself somewhere conspicuous.
He was easy to spot.
Sure enough, the instant the red figure entered Fang Ling's sight, An Yufei noticed this fellow living so comfortably and happily.
You killed my son in a Life and Death Battle, yet you're living so happily?
Damn you. You truly deserve to die!
The string in her heart snapped once more.
With an angry cry, she dove straight at Fang Ling with terrifying speed.
"Give me back my son's life!"
When she was still ten meters away from Fang Ling, the purple Fourth Spirit Ring on her body lit up.
In an instant, Thousand Feathers Barrage erupted.
Like arrows streaking through the air, they tore through the silent sky.
The long feathers were wrapped in flickering flames, igniting into a brilliant blaze of light.
They were as fast as meteors chasing the moon, as if even the air had been ripped apart.
Every feather carried intense hatred, and their power was anything but ordinary.
Even one tiny feather contained tremendous energy, enough to easily crush Fang Ling.
Using her Fourth Soul Skill right from the start showed just how deeply she hated him.
She was determined to kill him in a single strike.
Fang Ling looked "terrified" and scrambled away on all fours.
He portrayed the fear and terror of a man facing death with perfect realism.
"Teacher, save me!"
"Die, Fang Ling! No one can save you!"
A hoarse female voice filled with Abomination echoed beside Fang Ling's ears.
An Yufei seemed to see Fang Ling being blown to pieces by the fiery red feathers.
A wave of pleasure rose in her heart.
As Fang Ling fled forward, a shield-bearing figure suddenly teleported into place before him.
Hua Changshou, a defense-type Soul Ancestor, used his Third Soul Skill: teleportation.
He could use his shield to teleport ten meters, allowing him to protect whoever needed protecting at the fastest speed.
His Fourth Soul Skill lit up, and the shield that had originally been only half a person's height instantly grew larger.
The greatshield, its surface covered in special patterns, became as tall as the bald Soul Master himself.
The shield dropped, and he planted himself heavily in front of Fang Ling.
However, he did not block everything. When the attack first struck, he secretly let some of the impact and flames pass through.
Under An Yufei's face, shifting between excitement and tension, Fang Ling let out a miserable scream.
"Ah—!"
"Fang Ling, are you all right? Fang Ling! Fang Ling!"
The Mystic Iron Greatshield vanished, and Hua Changshou called out loudly in concern.
Though his acting was not very convincing, and his voice sounded like he was holding back laughter.
Still, combined with Fang Ling's miserable state—his entire body blackened, his skin cracked, lying flat on his back with black smoke rising from his mouth—it was enough to make the woman flying above believe—
Her sudden attack had dealt Fang Ling a devastating blow.
She wanted to continue attacking, but then she heard someone shout:
"Someone's committing murder here! All flying Soul Ancestors, get up there and capture this crazy woman!"
An Yufei did not attack again. She allowed herself to be captured, merely laughing wildly.

A note about updates.
During the new book period, I can only post four thousand words a day.
After it goes premium, it will depend on the results.
Tomorrow is Tuesday again. I hope everyone will support it by keeping up with the reading tomorrow. It concerns this little author's next round of recommendations.
