Three chapters would be released back-to-back at noon, with another update at seven that evening.
Originally, among the new books in my backlog, this book, Muddle, was only ranked third. Two others came before it: one was an ancient-era spiritual energy revival story aimed entirely at the market, while the other was a comedy set across multiple worlds. The worldviews, story structures, and core character setups for both had already been completed.
I had previously thought that I could not keep taking risks on entirely new genres. Senior Brother and Immortal Father were products of Dian Niang's previous era. Now was the age of anti-piracy; if I did not produce a market-oriented novel with an exceptionally high average subscription count, I would really become irrelevant.
So I had not initially planned to write this one. While building this book's world setting, I had even photographed the guide map on my little blackboard and shown it in the group chat...
Good lord, I almost leaked the setting!!!
Fortunately, I realized I could not leak it and recalled the message. Hehe.
So why write such a brand-new genre?
I had originally wanted to write the beginnings of all three new books and compare them. But when I got to Wei Na firing her gun in Chapter Four of this one, inspiration exploded. I could not suppress it or stop it. A shattered apocalyptic world unfolded on its own in my mind, and since I also needed to increase my word count in real life to fight my sugar cravings, I simply started writing both at once.
The day before I started this book, I asked a lady from Dian Niang's copyright department. Her reply was... apocalyptic
