Tongtian felt a surge of dissatisfaction. To only beg for one's life was too unambitious, a complete embarrassment. He immediately straightened his back, exuding an imposing aura, and said, "Bai Jin, what do you wish to ask of your master? Think carefully, and think earnestly."
Bai Jin looked up at Tongtian with anticipation and said, "Master, how about you remove the title of Head Outer Sect Disciple from me!"
Tongtian was stunned, then roared in anger, "Scram!"
With a wave of his large hand, Bai Jin let out a scream and instantly turned into a speck of light, disappearing.
Hahahaha—Loud laughter echoed from the peak of Taiqing Peak.
The disciples on Mount Kunlun could feel the joy permeating the heavens and earth, a stark contrast to the heavy pressure from before. A sense of envy arose in their hearts. Only Bai Jin could have persuaded the Master and Martial Uncle to reconcile, right? To achieve such a feat as an Outer Sect Disciple was truly enviable and jealousy-inducing!
The next morning, a moo—a bellow of an ox shook Mount Kunlun.
All the disciples emerged from their palaces, looking up at the sky above Kunlun. In the center stood an unremarkable old Daoist priest. To his left was the Nine Dragon Carriage, radiating golden light and auspicious clouds, with Yuanshi seated inside. To his right, thunderclouds surged, and standing atop the thunderclouds was a one-legged Kui Ox, which Tongtian was riding.
Taishang said with a smile, "Two junior brothers, until we meet again on the path to Sainthood."
Yuanshi, also beaming with joy, smiled and said, "Eldest Brother, Third Brother, why don't we have a competition to see who reaches Sainthood first?"
Tongtian nodded, "Agreed!"
Taishang also smiled, "Excellent!"
"Hahaha~ Eldest Brother, Third Brother, I shall depart first." Yuanshi laughed heartily, and the Nine Dragon Carriage instantly moved, pulling Yuanshi through the void.
Taishang also walked step by step, his figure flickering and disappearing.
Tongtian glanced below and shouted, "Bai Jin, come up and lead the ox!"
Bai Jin was taken aback but quickly responded, "Yes!" He leaped up and arrived before the Kui Ox, taking the reins and soaring away on the clouds.
After the Three Pure Ones departed, chaos erupted among the people of Mount Kunlun. Were Master and Martial Uncle going to attempt to attain the Dao again? Hadn't they just failed? They discussed amongst themselves, wondering if they would succeed this time.
Bai Jin led the Kui Ox, flying above the clouds, and asked, "Master, where are we going?"
Tongtian said leisurely, "We'll go wherever we please, guided by our hearts."
Saying it so grandly, but it's just aimless wandering, isn't it?
"Okay!" Bai Jin replied and led the Kui Ox across the Great Desolation, over mountains, across rivers, over seas, up to the heavens, observing the myriad races of the Great Desolation, and watching the Wu and Yao clans.
Tongtian's aura grew deeper, his eyes sharper. Sometimes, a faint trace of his power would emanate, making Bai Jin tremble with fear.
As they walked through the wild mountains and forests, Bai Jin hesitated for a moment and said, "Master, should we go and see the Human Race?"
"The Human Race? The newly created race by Nuwa?"
Bai Jin nodded, "Recently, I've heard the prayers of the Human Race. They are in trouble."
"Let's go! Let's take a look. I'm quite curious about the race created by Nuwa after she became a Saint."
Bai Jin led the Kui Ox southward. The territory of the Human Race was located south of Buzhou Mountain, a place Fuxi had chosen.
After traveling for only a few months, they saw scattered human tribes in the south. Humans clad in animal skins roamed the forests, hunting.
Some human tribes even settled near the Wu Clan tribes, relying on them for survival.
Tongtian exclaimed in surprise, "In just a few years, has the Human Race grown so numerous?"
Bai Jin smiled, "Master, the Human Race's reproductive capacity is probably the strongest in the Great Desolation. If they weren't too weak individually and found it difficult to survive in the Great Desolation, their numbers would be even greater."
Tongtian nodded, a thoughtful look flashing in his eyes. He observed the Human Race closely. Their strong reproductive capacity meant they had the potential to spread throughout the Great Desolation. Compared to the Wu and Yao clans, who had already formed civilizations, the Human Race seemed to be the most suitable object for enlightenment.
"Halt!" A loud shout echoed through the heavens and earth, a heavy, mountain-like pressure blocking their path, forming an insurmountable barrier.
Boom—A bare-chested giant fell onto a distant mountain peak, holding a scepter in his hand.
Bai Jin stopped and looked up, asking, "Fellow Daoist, who are you? Why do you block our path?"
The giant boomed, "I am Kuafu, ordered by Ancestor Witch Houtu to guard this place. Who are you? Where are you going?"
Bai Jin bowed respectfully, "It is the Great Witch Kuafu. I am Bai Jin from Mount Kunlun, and I am traveling with my Master to the ancestral land of the Human Race."
Kuafu's eyes widened abruptly. The Bai Jin that Ancestor Witch Houtu spoke of? Then his Master must be the Shangqing among the Three Pure Ones! He quickly bowed, "Greetings, Senior Shangqing!"
Tongtian said calmly, "May we pass?"
Kuafu quickly gestured, "Please!"
Bai Jin led the Kui Ox forward and soon disappeared into the mountain range.
Kuafu straightened up, wiped a bead of cold sweat from his forehead, and muttered to himself on the mountaintop, "No, I must inform the Ancestor Witch." He stomped his foot, and the earth rumbled. His figure instantly vanished.
Bai Jin led the Kui Ox to the Human Race's ancestral land by a vast river. However, the ancestral land, which should have been prosperous, was deserted, with only a few individuals hurrying about, presenting a desolate scene.
Bai Jin asked in confusion, "Strange, why is no one here?"
Tongtian revealed a slight smile, "Walk forward!"
Bai Jin continued to lead the Kui Ox forward, and gradually, faint voices could be heard from afar.
"Holding the Great Image, the world comes. Coming without harm, peaceful and tranquil. Joy and delicacies, travelers stop. The Dao spoken, bland and tasteless, looked at but not seen, listened to but not heard, used but never exhausted..."
Bai Jin's heart stirred. Is that the First Martial Uncle? He immediately led the ox in the direction of the sound.
A moment later, they arrived before a small mountain. Taishang was seated on a large rock atop the mountain. At the foot of the rock lay a large-horned green ox. At the foot of the mountain sat a dense crowd of humans, all sincerely listening to the teachings, without a hint of noise.
Bai Jin whispered, "Master, it seems the First Martial Uncle arrived first."
Tongtian flipped off the Kui Ox and said, "Go do your own thing!" He then floated towards the mountain peak.
Bai Jin patted the Kui Ox and said, "Go find a place to play by yourself."
The Kui Ox looked at the green ox on the mountaintop and asked, "Can I go talk to it?"
"No!"
Bai Jin turned and walked towards the divine temple. He had been vaguely hearing the prayers of the Human Race during this time and decided he needed to check what was happening with them.
The Kui Ox walked off to the side and lay down under a large tree. It looked up at the green ox on the mountaintop and thought, I got here first, so I'm the boss from now on.
Bai Jin arrived at the valley where the Human Race was born. Outside the valley stood a majestic divine temple. Inside, a dignified statue of Empress Nuwa sat enthroned. To the left and right of Empress Nuwa's statue stood two smaller statues. The one on the left was Fuxi, and the one on the right was Bai Jin.
