Little Wizards of Other Races
"Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw!" Hermione muttered under her breath.
Sorting Hat: "Ah, a studious little girl, yet not lacking in courage..."
"Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw!" Hermione paid no attention to what the hat was saying and just kept chanting.
Sorting Hat: "Um, could you let me say something..."
"Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw!"
"Fine, fine!" The Sorting Hat gave in.
"You truly do belong there, though I think Gryffindor would suit you well too. Go on, find your friends. Ravenclaw~"
Hermione breathed a sigh of relief, her little face flushed red as she set down the hat and ran toward the Ravenclaw table.
The Ravenclaws immediately applauded to welcome her. Ted shifted aside to make room for her.
"How did you end up in Ravenclaw?" Ted asked. He had not expected Sorting to be subject to change.
Hermione lifted her chin slightly, pretending to be reserved. "Maybe the Sorting Hat thought I liked studying more!"
Soon, the Sorting reached the letter H.
"Harley Quinn Potter." When Professor McGonagall called Harley's full name, Ted froze for a moment.
A death row word puzzle? That middle name did not sound very auspicious! As expected, Harley was sorted into Gryffindor.
In the original story, the Sorting Hat had hesitated for a long time, perhaps because of Voldemort's Horcrux, and had even considered putting Harry in Slytherin. This time, though, it was decisive—just a few seconds.
Had it begun? It was already over! Harley grandly and gracefully set down the hat, flicked the hem of her wizarding robe, and strode toward the Gryffindor table. Then she spread her arms as if bathing in holy light...
"Roar~" A wave of ghostly howls erupted. The little lions thought this girl was exactly their kind!
The Weasley Twins were especially loud, jumping and cheering wildly.
There was also an older red-haired girl, who was probably Paige Weasley.
Harley had known them before.
Before long, Jerry was called up as well.
He had no surname, so he was sorted according to the first letter of his given name.
The Sorting Hat did not hesitate. In three seconds, it placed him in Gryffindor.
Gryffindor's atmosphere really was nice. No one discriminated against Jerry because of the round mouse ears on either side of his head. Instead, they were even more excited?!
"We have a mousie~"
"Thank you, thank you, thank you..." Jerry gratefully thanked each person who welcomed him.
Not long after, it was Neville's turn.
When Neville Longbottom's name was called, the hall fell silent for a moment before whispers began to spread.
The Sorting Hat began hesitating again with Neville. Nearly five minutes passed before it finally made its decision—"Gryffindor!"
Neville hurried off, forgetting to take off the hat again. Huh, why did I say again?
The familiar scene gave Ted a small measure of comfort.
"Ah! We have another Longbottom! The Boy Who Lived!"
Everyone in Gryffindor rushed to shake Neville's hand. His face turned red, then pale, then red again... The scene was far too stimulating for him. He nearly fainted on the spot.
The next familiar face after Neville was Malfoy, who was sorted into Slytherin as expected.
By the time Ron's turn came, there were not many people left.
Ron was naturally sorted into Gryffindor as well.
The Sorting Ceremony soon came to an end.
Ted felt the Magic Power connection between himself and the castle suddenly transform into some vast magic that seeped into the castle and vanished.
It seemed the enrollment Ritual Magic had been completed. On a magical level, they little wizards had now become Hogwarts students.
The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables stood next to each other, while Neville and Ron took seats behind Ted and Hermione.
Neville turned around and whispered to Ted, "Thank you, thank you, Ted. What you said was true! I kept quietly chanting Gryffindor just now, and I really got sorted into Gryffindor!"
Ted smiled. "You were sorted into Gryffindor because you possess precious qualities. You are brave enough. Maybe you have not found that courage yet, but it has always been within you."
Ron grimaced. "Why do I feel like Ted talks even more like a professor than the professors?"
Jerry nodded vigorously in agreement beside him.
Hermione glared at the two of them. Ted's words made so much sense—what was that supposed to mean?
No matter what, the Sorting Ceremony was over.
The final Sorting results:
Gryffindor: 10.
Ravenclaw: 9.
Hufflepuff: 9.
Slytherin: 8.
Thirty-six new students in total.
Great Britain's magical world had fallen into a population crisis! Think about it: Hogwarts' four Heads of House, plus the headmaster and professors—not one of them had children. The British magical world was doomed! Still, this number seemed to be a few higher than in the original story. Since the original story had never clearly listed the students of the Class of '91, Ted could not be sure.
But students of other races like Jerry definitely had not existed in the original story.
Yet he was not the only one at Hogwarts!
In his own year and House, there was a Gnome girl named Clara Sparkle.
She was only a little over a meter tall. Though she was only eleven and might still grow in the future, how much taller could she get? She was an intelligent species from another world—a Gnome.
They were said to excel at magic, jewelry processing, and magitech.
Besides those two, Hogwarts had admitted some students of other races with magical talent in recent years. After all, it had already been eleven years since intelligent species from other worlds appeared during the second Celestial Conjunctions.
Some children who had crossed into this world at a young age were admitted to Hogwarts once they reached eleven.
Specifically, there was Guf Oasis, a second-year Hufflepuff student from the Horned Race.
He had two horns growing from his head and a rather large nose. He looked a little dim-witted, stood a head and a half taller than his classmates, and was more than a size bigger.
He gave off the feeling of: Second year of middle school, terrified of campus bullying.jpg.
There was Muradin Bronzebeard, a third-year Gryffindor student from the Dwarf race.
At only fourteen, he already had a full beard. In a few years, he would be able to braid it beneath his chin.
There was Ada Sylph, a fourth-year Ravenclaw Elf girl.
She was older than all her classmates, already eighteen, but she still looked six or seven years old and spoke in a soft, childish voice.
After all, Elves lived three times as long as humans and developed more slowly.
There was Itori, a fifth-year Hufflepuff student from the Rabbit-Ear Race.
She was the school's first student of another race. Dumbledore had personally persuaded the Board of Governors to accept her, setting a precedent.
With two students of other races enrolling this year, the proportion had risen.
The appearance of other races was an enormous test for the wizarding community. On one hand, they had to do their best to conceal them and prevent them from accidentally being exposed to Muggles. On the other, it involved the distribution of benefits.
Other races brought different knowledge, but they also occupied resources needed for survival, creating a certain degree of competition.
The pure-bloods had originally been targeting Muggle-born wizards, wanting to make pure-bloods great again. Then even more unconventional competitors arrived.
As the saying went, those in the same industry were often taken down by outsiders.
At present, wizards could roughly be divided into three factions.
One was friendly, one was neutral, and one was opposed.
The opposition was mostly made up of pure-blood wizards. The neutral faction had the most people...
During the previous Celestial Conjunctions, no intelligent species had appeared. It had only meant fighting monsters, and had even enriched magical resources.
But the Celestial Conjunctions ten years ago had brought many races from other worlds. Fortunately, their numbers were still small. Otherwise, conflict would have been unavoidable.
This would be a major problem testing the magical world. It might even be more dangerous than Voldemort!...
"Hiss, hiss, hiss~ Ah!" Neville suddenly covered his forehead, his face twisted in pain.
Jerry hurriedly asked, "What's wrong?"
Neville forced a smile. "Nothing. My head suddenly hurt."
Harley said with experience, "Maybe you caught a chill from the wind while we were rowing."
Ron agreed. "That's right. Eat a bit more later, and you'll be fine!"
Neville felt it probably was not from catching a chill, and eating more likely would not help either.
It was his scar that was stinging, as though someone were pricking it with a needle.
But it only lasted a few seconds before disappearing. Naturally, he did not refute his friends' concern.
Honestly, being cared for by friends felt really nice.
At that moment, Quirrell, his head wrapped in a turban, had his back to Neville as if he were speaking to someone.
Ted chuckled wickedly to himself. He probably can only sleep on his side now~ Snape, meanwhile, stood with his arms folded, gazing blankly at Harley as she laughed and chatted with her friends.
