By the time he realized it, it was already the end of the month. Ted and the others had been at Hogwarts for a full month.

Tomorrow would be October, and new Otherworldly Knowledge was about to refresh.

Ted decided to take stock of what he had gained this month.

First, his character interface:

Ted Epiphany Level: Level 1 Wizard / Level 1 Mind Mage Experience Pool: 3472 Attributes: (The average attribute value for an ordinary adult Muggle is 5.) Strength: 3 Constitution: 5 Dexterity: 4 Intelligence: 6 Perception: 7 (+1 wand) Spirit: 9 Charisma: 7 Luck: ?? (Ordinary people have 0. It fluctuates between positive and negative values depending on their condition.) He had saved over three thousand experience points! A great victory! Of course, that was mainly because he had not spent any.

Besides raising class levels, experience could also be used to upgrade spells.

For example, upgrading Lumos from Lv1 to Lv2 required 200 experience points.

Ted did not even need to wave his wand. He only had to deduct 200 experience points from the Experience Pool and pour them into Lumos, and it would immediately rise to Lv2. The spell's effect and proficiency would then both reach Lv2!

But Ted had not touched his experience points, mainly because he was afraid new Otherworldly Knowledge would consume too much experience.

Spells could be trained and upgraded on their own. At most, they would level up after two hundred successful casts! If he focused on it, going from scratch to Lv2 would only take a week or two.

But if he missed out because he lacked enough experience to redeem Otherworldly Knowledge, that would be far too regrettable.

Tomorrow was a new month. Hopefully, he would get some useful knowledge.

Of course, he had not even fully absorbed the knowledge of that Dalaran cannon-fodder mage yet.

Most of his energy was currently devoted to learning the magic in his textbooks. The combat spells of a Dalaran cannon-fodder mage were still somewhat too profound for him.

Speaking of which, Lv2 Lumos was more stable, lasted a full minute and a half, produced more light, and no longer flickered. Ted had even "simplified" the incantation. With just one word—"Lumos"—he could drive his magic power and form the spell.

This was probably the technique of abandoning incantations and casting silently at critical moments in the future.

However, because of his Mind Power, Ted's control over magic power was much stronger. He only needed the slightest hint to mobilize it.

In fact, he felt that if he raised Lumos to Lv3, he should be able to cast it silently right away.

As for wandless casting, he did not know when he could manage that. It would probably take at least Lv5, right? In the system, both magic and skills ranged from Lv1 to Lv9.

Magic was generally limited by the relevant skills. For instance, if his Spell skill was only Lv3, then it would basically be very difficult to raise an ordinary spell to Lv4.

An Outstanding grade in the fifth-year O.W.L.s was generally around Lv3, while an Outstanding grade in the seventh-year N.E.W.T. exams was Lv4. If one could advance further to Lv5, one could begin learning silent casting for that spell.

Ted was a special case...

Still, every wizard had spells they excelled at and were proficient with. Take Lockhart from the original story—he could barely cast ordinary simple spells properly, yet he had pushed Obliviate all the way to "master level"! Countless outstanding wizards had fallen to his Obliviate without ever noticing anything wrong with their memories.

And Harry Potter in the original story had, under several special buffs, used the Disarming Charm to contend against Voldemort's Avada Kedavra. By the final showdown, thanks to the Elder Wand, he had even directly defeated Voldemort, causing the magic to backfire and bring about the ending.

This sort of situation usually appeared in instinctive, "I reckon" type wizards. They often possessed one particular spell at which they were exceptionally gifted.

Ted had also made progress in Transfiguration. He could now turn a matchstick into a steel needle with great proficiency, and his Transfiguration had risen to Lv2 as a result.

That had truly not been easy.

But once he had learned to turn matchsticks into steel needles and broken through that barrier, transforming other objects into other objects became much easier.

The size of the transformed object depended entirely on proficiency and magic power strength.

For spells, he had also privately sought Professor Flitwick's guidance and learned the Disarming Charm.

Then, in an abandoned classroom, he spent several days practicing with a battered training dummy.

As for psychic abilities, he had developed a new ability: Mental Stimulation.

The summary of this month was simple: focus on studying and develop psychic abilities.

He would not do anything out of line. He had not even gone wandering at night.

Though he was envious of Harriett roaming everywhere beneath her Invisibility Cloak and exploring this thousand-year-old school of magic, Ted believed that keeping a low profile during his first year, learning magic, and strengthening himself were what mattered most.

He would avoid doing anything unnecessary and avoid courting death.

He would think about everything else once he had some strength.

Did he really think he was the protagonist of some brainless novel?! Besides reviewing what he had gained over the month, he also began organizing a reading list.

Mainly because he felt that pre-Hogwarts education for young wizards was an absolute mess. It could even be said that there was barely any education at all.

Wizarding families generally taught their children language and writing, while mathematics only went as far as addition and subtraction. Not even multiplication or division! And their understanding of magic was extremely shallow, even one-sided.

Hermione walked over to Ted, who was writing furiously, and asked softly, "What are you doing?"

"I'm reviewing what I've gained over the past month and sorting out a knowledge system," Ted said.

"A knowledge system? Why do I feel like I don't quite understand?"

"Most young wizards receive home education, but not every mother is an elementary school teacher. There are bound to be huge gaps in their basic knowledge, especially in math and basic natural science."

"And magic, too. They only understand bits and pieces of it. So I want to make a reading list to help young wizards understand magic power and magic..."

His experience working at Flourish and Blotts finally came in handy.

Over two months of squeezing in time to "copy" books, Ted had recorded hundreds, perhaps thousands, of books from the magical world. Quite a few of them covered basic magical theory.

He sorted through magical textbooks and arranged a reading and learning sequence, from theory to basic magic, household magic...

"Control Your Magic Power—Required Reading for Little Wizards"

"The Truth of Magic"

"Magic Overview"

"Underlying Principles of Modern Magic"

"Detailed Explanation of Basic Spells"

"Encyclopedia of Household Magic: 1983 Edition"

This reading list was incredibly useful to Hermione. She treated it like a treasure! As mentioned before, wizards could be divided into instinctive and intuitive types, and rational, study-oriented types—those were the "I reckon" type and the scholar type.

Hermione belonged to the latter. She was not the sort who could make a spell dramatically stronger simply through surging emotion.

Every magical effect had to be built upon proper study and a sound knowledge system.

This reading list was especially important to her.

A towering building rose from level ground. With this reading list, her future studies would benefit enormously.

Neville and the others also came over to join in the fun. Harriett and Jerry were too restless, while Ron could not settle down, but although Neville read slowly, he kept steadily working through the list.

Later, Professor Flitwick discovered Hermione's copy of the reading list, and he could not help but sigh. "Even in Ravenclaw, there have only been a few students like Ted. He will surely accomplish great things in the future."

Early the next morning, Ted opened his eyes. It was already October.

"Ding~ Talent Otherworldly Knowledge (Gold) activated. The Book of Ur (Green) discovered."

The Book of Ur (Green) recorded Dalaran mage Ur's research and summoning knowledge concerning otherworldly werewolves. It required 350 experience points to redeem.

He had not expected the previous one to be a Dalaran cannon-fodder mage training manual, and this one to be another work by a Dalaran mage.

To be honest, Ted was quite familiar with this book.

Back when he had roamed Azeroth, he had always played Horde.

The Horde had three classic dungeons that low-level characters absolutely had to visit—Ragefire Chasm, Shadowfang Keep, and Wailing Caverns.

The Book of Ur was a book involved in a quest in Shadowfang Keep.

It was said that, in order to fight the Scourge, many mages had racked their brains to find a solution.

A mage named Ur had mastered otherworldly summoning knowledge concerning a powerful and evil being from another world—werewolves.

But Ur had ultimately abandoned his research, because he felt werewolves were too evil and too brutal. In the end, they might not be much better than the Scourge.

But while he had abandoned it, another mage picked up his research and treasured it as if he had found a priceless jewel.

That mage believed that if he could control those powerful otherworldly werewolves, ruling an entire region would no longer be a dream. He was Arugal, the final boss of Shadowfang Keep...

"So it's a book on how to summon and control otherworldly werewolves? Damn it!" Ted cursed in frustration.

Leaving aside the fact that werewolves were nothing unusual in the magical world, even if they were far stronger than the werewolves of this world, there was no way he would summon such uncontrollable creatures with such strong infectious abilities!

Ted immediately closed the system without even redeeming it.

He would save the experience points for something else!

There was no point waiting around like this. What if next month's knowledge was still useless?

Screw it, he would level up!
