Although he had acquired an incredibly magical cooking recipe, Ted had no time to try it out in the kitchen himself. Final exams had begun this week.

Ted arrived at the usual classroom with his fountain pen and parchment. Behind him were Hermione, fired up and ready to give it her all; Harriett, looking around for something amusing; and Ron, Jerry, and Neville, all nervously uneasy.

Ron and Jerry were the type who usually slacked off, dodged work whenever they could, copied whenever possible, and muddled through.

Although their practical spellwork had already surpassed that of most Little Wizards, their theoretical knowledge was probably below average. They were the classic weak students with lopsided strengths. Neville, on the other hand, worked hard every day and tried to do his homework himself, but saw little improvement. He was fairly good at Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts, but he had no confidence in the other subjects.

Ever since reading Brave Heart, which Ted had written for him, he had gained quite a lot from it. He had developed a certain amount of courage and could overcome many difficulties. But with studying, either you knew it or you did not. Confidence was not something that could be built in a day or two.

In the examination room, even the air seemed to have frozen. The students unconsciously slowed their breathing.

The first exam was Transfiguration Class, taught by the famously stern Professor McGonagall.
