"Jiang Ming, be careful." Qi Lin watched the group still fighting in the alley and spoke seriously to Jiang Ming. Her hand, however, had unconsciously moved to her waist. She drew the gun at her side, aimed it at the two men still brawling, and shouted, "What are you doing? Stop right now!"
Hearing Qi Lin's voice, Liu Chuang's two lackeys looked up. They shuddered instinctively and unconsciously wanted to run.
Seeing this, Qi Lin immediately raised her gun and closed in. "You two over there, try moving again. Let's see whether you can run faster than my bullets."
The moment Ge Xiaolun heard that, he panicked. At a complete loss, he was just a student—when had he ever seen anything like this? He immediately stammered in alarm, "Officer, I... I... I was standing up for justice."
Flustered, Ge Xiaolun glanced again at the cold muzzle not far in front of him. He hurriedly clasped his hands over his head and squatted down, thinking, That's definitely a real gun. This has gotten out of hand.
Qi Lin did not care whether he had been standing up for justice or not. To her, the most important thing right now was controlling the situation and preventing another fight from breaking out. Everything else could wait.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming looked up at the surveillance camera on the wall. He knew that Du Kao and the others had long stationed people to monitor those with Super Genes at all times. Someone was definitely watching this place right now. Besides, Liu Chuang and Ge Xiaolun were two of the most important among all Super Gene carriers, especially with Earth facing a crisis. They would certainly be watched closely at all times, after all, they were two of the Three Great God-Making Projects: the Power of the Galaxy and the Nuo Star God of War.
Jiang Ming understood that he was not ready to expose himself yet. The consequence of exposure would be facing Du Kao's thorough investigation. How would he explain his cultivation? Perhaps they could not deal with him, or perhaps they would not pursue the matter and would instead investigate him and try to recruit him. But what if they did? Jiang Ming did not particularly trust Du Kao and the others. After all, those not of our kind are bound to harbor different intentions.
Having gone through two dangerous worlds, Jiang Ming understood the evil in people's hearts well. It was never wrong to be cautious. Do not think too highly of people; everyone had both good and evil sides. Some things could not be judged merely by appearances or files. For now, he would hide himself and observe. Once the war began, or after Du Kao was sniped by Morgana, he would make his move.
No matter how strong one person was, they were still only one person. Earth's rise could never depend on a single individual; it had to rely on the efforts of Earth's billions. Outsiders would always remain outsiders. No planet or civilization had ever established itself among the myriad races of the universe through one person alone. Even the powerful Angel Race did not rely solely on Keisha. Even that bastard Carl had a group of subordinates and civilizations under him.
With that in mind, Jiang Ming walked toward Liu Chuang. He looked at the concrete ground Liu Chuang had smashed through with Ge Xiaolun's head. Though he had long been prepared for it, he was still shaken inside. A head smashing through concrete without even a scratch—he truly lived up to the title Power of the Galaxy. Even for martial artists, one would at least need to have trained a body-tempering art to the peak of the acquired realm, or possess deep and pure true qi protecting the body. Otherwise, facing such damage—especially to a vital area like the head—would mean certain death in most cases.
The technology in this Super God World was fucking insane. This genetic engineering and god-making technology were ridiculously overpowered! Was the end of science really theology? In any case, Jiang Ming, as a martial artist, could not understand it at all.
Jiang Ming knew that the most important thing now was to act, to pretend. As the saying went, life was a play, and everything depended on acting. But how one pretended was an art. He had to act like an ordinary junior police officer.
Jiang Ming immediately drew his pistol and pointed it at Liu Chuang. "Hey, I'm talking to you! Big guy, hands on your head. Get over to that corner and squat down. Behave yourself—bullets don't have eyes."
Liu Chuang could not help feeling somewhat afraid. That was a real gun. Though the old immortal in his dream had told him that he was some kind of superhero, some kind of god of war, even a god of war might not be able to stop bullets, right? He might not have killed anyone, but the mess he had caused today was no small matter! What if they took him to some special department for research? At that thought, Liu Chuang's legs began to tremble.
Qi Lin surveyed the surroundings: the round hole in the concrete, the air conditioner lying off to one side... Her brows furrowed. Based on her years of professional police experience, this did not look like damage caused by an ordinary brawl at all. It seemed the matter was not so simple.
After questioning the woman by the wall, Lao Wang looked at the ground and said to them, "Qi Lin, Jiang Ming, I asked already. The witness said it really was caused by the two of them fighting, but there's clearly something seriously wrong with this scene."
Although Jiang Ming knew what had happened, he could not show it. Turning to Lao Wang, he said, "Lao Wang, take these brawlers back to the station first. Lock them up for a few days and let them cool off. Then pull up the surveillance footage and see exactly what happened."
After saying that, Jiang Ming walked over to the pensive Qi Lin and said, "Take them back and lock them up for a few days. Let them reflect on what they did. Then we'll review the surveillance footage and verify the situation. We'll deal with it however we should when the time comes. Don't worry, and don't overthink it."
Hearing this, Qi Lin nodded at Jiang Ming. She then pointed her gun at Liu Chuang and Ge Xiaolun. "Behave yourselves. Stop fidgeting and cooperate properly. Otherwise... bullets don't have eyes."
"Don't, don't! Officer, I was standing up for justice! I'll go now." Ge Xiaolun explained to Qi Lin as he walked.
As for Liu Chuang, he had spent years mixing in society. He was the boss of dozens of brothers and had been in and out of police stations many times. This whole procedure was nothing new to him; he knew it inside and out. Once he calmed down, he obediently cooperated with the police and walked toward the patrol car.
Seeing this, Jiang Ming looked at the stern Qi Lin. "Let's wrap it up. We can talk slowly after we get back."
"Everyone, pack up. It's getting late. Throw them in the station for the night and let them reflect properly. We'll interrogate them carefully tomorrow," Jiang Ming said to the other officers.
"Sure, no problem. Then Qi Lin, Jiang Ming, we'll head out first. See you tomorrow."
"Qi Lin, let's go. It's time to get back and rest. If we stay any later, your parents will start worrying."
