Background

Jiang Ming is a transmigrator from Hua Xia who awakened in a body whose original owner had saved Qi Lin from a knife attack. His parents had already died, and Qi Lin—his childhood friend and colleague—helped him through the loss by bringing him home for meals and taking him out regularly. He was a people’s policeman and initially sought strength so he could survive, defend Hua Xia, and protect Qi Lin in a world threatened by alien invasion 1.

Before openly involving himself in the Super God Academy conflict, Jiang Ming chose to conceal his cultivation. Having survived multiple dangerous worlds, he distrusted Du Kao and other powerful factions, preferring to observe their intentions before committing himself 2 67.

In the Qingyun world, Shui Yue brought Jiang Ming to Da Zhu Peak and asked Tian Buyi to accept him as a disciple. Tian Buyi agreed partly out of regard for Shui Yue, while Jiang Ming entered Qingyun with the stated aim of entering the Dao through Martial Dao and reaching its highest realm 33 71.

Jiang Ming is calculating, self-preserving, and highly selective about whom he trusts. He believes survival and the ability to protect those close to him must come before lofty ideals, and he is wary of people whose motives he cannot verify 2 67. He is notably friendlier toward people who make a good impression, but dismissive or sarcastic toward those he dislikes 82.

He is fiercely protective of his companions and disciples. He shielded Qingyun disciples from the Water Kirin, supported Zhang Xiao Fan when others doubted him, and actively sought to clear Zhang Xiao Fan’s name when he was accused 45 52 74. His kindness does not prevent ruthlessness: he killed Ji Dongming in a single strike and executed hostile monks without hesitation when he deemed them irredeemable threats 186 295.

Jiang Ming is ambitious enough to reject merely inheriting the achievements of past masters. He wants to create his own Dao Arts, surpass Qingye, and avoid Qingyun’s stagnation under the shadow of its ancestors 71 72. He can also be manipulative when pursuing a goal, as shown when he fabricated Qingyun’s history and invoked “fate” to recruit Ye Hongyu 273.
