A miracle only Dao Venerable-level beings were fortunate enough to witness (part one)
The night was endless, and in the vast Abyss, where the darkness should have been the deepest place, it was now filled with light.
"Ruin Nightmare!"
Standing alongside the Blood Buddha, the Longevity Daoist uttered these two words with an extremely solemn expression.
Many people quickly arrived at the edge of the Abyss, smelling a faint, strange fragrance. Below them, they saw ten layers of light curtains of different colors.
"A single flower?" Even Immortal Capital were astonished.
A Heavenly God being said in a deep voice, "The Ruin Nightmare is not just a flower; it belongs to a special life form. According to the fragmentary records left in historical books, a very small number of individuals even possess beast-like forms."
Of course, the term "very few" might be an exaggeration; it could simply be an isolated case, since the number of recorded Ruin Nightmare is probably less than a handful.
A heavy feeling settled over everyone, and many people backed away. Had they encountered a "great disaster"?
After all, this is a miracle that only Dao Venerable are qualified to witness.
Blood Buddha spoke, "No need to worry, we were already caught in the trap, but fortunately we survived. This flower is not fierce today; its blooming period is nearing its end."
They did not witness the so-called "miracle".
Now the Ruin Nightmare are collapsing, engulfed in flames, and about to perish completely. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; just now, all the Great Sage had felt an immense sense of oppression in their hearts.
Only then did people have the mind to use their Heavenly Eye and divine eyes to investigate the situation below.
The Abyss was naturally vast, and everyone was just standing on the edge, like ants, but that flower occupied the entire bottom area.
It's easy to imagine how enormous it is.
The petals are layered upon layered, their number immeasurable. Even True Immortal who probes into them with their Divine Sense would feel dizzy and utterly lost.
It is rooted in the deepest darkness of the Eternal Night, yet it blooms with the most brilliant and magnificent light. Its petals unfold, breathtakingly beautiful, and each layer of petals is different. The outer area resembles a lotus flower, bearing the light and encompassing the various wonders within.
The deeper you go, the more wondrous it becomes. As you venture further in, the petals become slender, like celestial Heavenly Dragon, their ends connecting to the bottom of the Ruin Demon, all raising their heads to the sky, dancing out a magnificent spectacle.
Further inside, on the adjacent layer, the petals are all in the shape of human figures, each carrying Heavenly Light, like ten thousand immortals ascending to heaven.
There are also extraordinary sights among the different layers of petals.
Like Golden Crow soaring across the sky, cutting through the barriers between petals, stirring up a vibrant burst of light and flame.
As the Ruin Nightmare Shakes slightly, countless stars appear and fall among the colorful petals, creating a magnificent and astonishing scene that leaves one mesmerized.
These are now Remnant Scene. The true Ruin Nightmare have long since crumbled, the flower's heart turned to ashes, and what it once looked like, how breathtakingly beautiful it was, is now lost to history.
Between the layers of petals, different kinds of heavenly fire surged forth, countless in number, merging together to create bursts of Chaotic Fire mist, both alluring and mysterious.
Is this what the Blood Buddha meant by "this flower is not ominous today"?
Anyone who dares to venture out to explore will likely be annihilated on the spot.
However, the blooming was indeed over. The core area had long since disappeared and turned to ashes, and the outer petals, which took the forms of divine lotus, Heavenly Dragon, and immortal ascension, had also been engulfed by the raging flames.
The entire Ruin Nightmare has ten layers of "Sky Curtain".
Each layer is more hazy than the last, becoming increasingly ethereal the deeper one goes, until finally it becomes so indistinct that it seems to cease to exist.
Ten grand "curtains" hung down, as if separating the nine heavens and protecting the only real central area. Unfortunately, when the rare flowers were about to be destroyed, they all burned, collapsed, shattered, and fell.
Only intermittent, exotic fragrances, like a babbling brook, drifted through the air, appearing and disappearing intermittently.
"What exactly is the Ruin Nightmare? I have a feeling that it can evolve into everything?" asked the Great Sage Zuo Dao of the Primordial Unity Hall.
Even withered flowers bloom, their beauty still surpassing all others; various wondrous sights unfold, and those who merely touch them with the Light of the Mind will be lost in bewilderment.
The Longevity Daoist spoke, "The most powerful hallucinogenic flower in the world. Apart from the Dao Venerable, no one can resist its rich fragrance and will be drawn into a dreamlike state." Most strangely, when the flower blooms, all is silent. For cultivators below the Ninth Realm, it has no color; it is hidden at the end of darkness, and nothing can be seen.
However, for the Dao Venerable, even from hundreds of millions of miles away, he could see the Chongxiao clouds and wondrous sights soaring into the sky, with light rain breaking through the entire firmament, and the heavens and the earth filled with light.
At that moment, the Ruin Nightmare could transform into the Sky Curtain on its own.
When they learned this, everyone was utterly shocked.
In other words, this place had previously been a magnificent and boundless sight, but they were like blind men, seeing nothing until the flowering season was almost over and everything was about to burn to ashes, at which point they began to notice?
King Yujing, Wei Guanxuan, spoke up, "It's like when a great sage casts a spell, ordinary people can't see anything. They're not on the same level; it's as if there's an entire world separating them."
Blood Buddha, "What's most terrifying is that the flowers bloom and cover the entire Ruin Realm, plunging all living beings into the same dream, making it impossible to distinguish between reality and illusion, and together they weave together a magnificent yet incredibly real world."
When the Ruin Nightmare is in full bloom, even the Great Sage of the Eighth Realm at his strongest will succumb to it; only the supreme Dao Venerable who can see through all illusions can calmly appreciate it.
The most intense floral fragrance can draw the mind into endless illusions.
A True Immortal frowned and said, "So, what we saw earlier All Is Illusory, and those... the blurry fragments remaining in our minds, were all just a dream?"
For a moment, everyone was in a daze, with a feeling that they had once traveled to a real world, met many people, and only recently returned.
"Were the initial rise and fall of the Ten-Colored Fire Spring also an illusion?" "Most likely!"
Many people find it hard to accept because some scenes are so real, and they can even remember certain faces. At the moment of parting, they are reluctant to say goodbye.
Just like Mu Shinian, who had a particularly deep impression of a Green-Clad Woman, he felt empty inside at this moment.
"I remember, as the Ten-Colored Fire Spring rose and fell, a wooden boat appeared, taking us through an Arched Gate into Foreign Domain. What happened after that?"
"I remember that too, how did it become fake?"
Many people do not believe that everything All Is Illusory.
"Ten-Colored Fire Spring surged forth, and young creatures on the wooden boat guided us. Oh, by the way, it seems that the minotaur's ancestors were in debt and were being chased by creditors!"
Niu Wuwei immediately widened his bull-like eyes and said, "I am a human, you are the bull-headed man!"
"I remember a shattered Giant City emerging from this place, reforming itself, and hanging upside down in the sky, where many Old Senior were trapped."
Everyone tried hard to recall and piece together the hazy fragments, trying to trace back to the truth.
They grew increasingly suspicious; many things seemed strange.
"Senior, what do you think?" a Heavenly God asked the Blood Buddha. Even beings at the Eighth Realm couldn't distinguish between the real and the fake, which made it all the more terrifying.
Blood Buddha, "The place where the Ruin Nightmare was born is far too ethereal to seek the Truth Seeking about."
When this powerful figure, who was so close to the Ninth Realm, said such a thing, many people fell silent.
Clearly, the Blood Buddha believed that the bizarre and fantastical events were not real experiences.
The main reason is that the Ruin Nightmare is too mysterious and unpredictable, and its hallucinogenic effects are unmatched by anyone except the Dao Venerable.
Su Ling, the Great Sage of the Burning Dao Palace, spoke up, "There is evidence here; we did indeed travel to a world of light."
Beneath her feet lay ashes in the shape of objects.
Immediately, some people echoed this sentiment, and some even opened the Grotto-Heaven to find the treasures, including herbs and Otherworld specialties that had been burned.
"How could this be fake?"
"After our return, all these Otherworld treasures were inexplicably destroyed, as if an eternity had passed in the blink of an eye, a period of time as vast as the changing of the seas."
The Longevity Daoist spoke up, "That's not hard to explain."
He pointed to the bottom of the Abyss, where the Ten-Colored Ruin Nightmare burning, nearly extinguished, with rain of light blooming and specks of ash rising. He spoke, "During your journey of being lost, when you took various things, the ash that had a hallucinogenic effect was captured by the Light of the Mind and condensed in front of you into various herbs, objects, and so on."
Blood Buddha, "The items obtained in the dream will match up one by one with the ashes of the Ruin Demon in reality. You can examine them carefully."
It's quiet here now; everyone is verifying it.
As a result, they had to believe that they had most likely experienced a hallucination.
A very small number of people felt it was inappropriate, and some things didn't match up. However, with the help of others, they carefully recalled those vague fragments and were perfectly "corrected".
Qin Ming frowned, feeling that there was something wrong with the items he had acquired.
For example, that Secret Medicine that even Heavenly Immortal and Dao Venerable would care about—he remembered there were twenty-four bottles, so how come two bottles were missing?
Furthermore, in that great dream, could the slumbering one be taught magic by the Ruin Nightmare? He recalled a text called "Primordial God-Demon Body Refining Instruction" and, after careful study, confirmed that it was definitely a genuine scripture, profound and unpredictable, and very likely of the highest level.
"It seems someone helped me out, forcing me to memorize this passage."
As he pondered deeply, his head throbbed with pain, and another "method" surfaced in his mind—the method for refining twenty-four Secret Medicine.
His memory of this event was extremely vague; it was a gift from an old monster, and the old man helped him memorize it carefully. Even so, it almost "lost its way."
He couldn't quite remember the herbs corresponding to the last section, and each time he tried to recall them, he would feel somewhat disoriented. "I seem to remember the last mineral herb, but there are inexplicably two additional auxiliary herbs. Is my memory confused? I'll need to try and fail in the future."
He breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Many people have succumbed to reality; the truth is there, and they have no choice but to bow their heads.
The Ruin Nightmare Flower blooms in profusion; who can remain conscious and survive? There is no one here who can rival the Dao Venerable.
At the bottom of the Abyss, the enormous Ruin Demon completely collapsed, all the wonders vanished, leaving only ashes and glimmers of light.
"It's over. Everything we saw and thought was just a dream."
"One can imagine how otherworldly the Dream Demon must have been at its most dazzling. Unfortunately, even if that magnificent scene were right before our eyes, it would be as if we were looking through a curtain. To us, everything was silent, the night was endless, and we could see nothing."
Many people ponder that many mysterious phenomena and strange things in the depths of the Night Mist World happen silently, and those who do not reach the corresponding level remain completely unaware.
Some inexplicable natural disasters may be related to similar events.
A Great Sage spoke up, "Senior, in my memory, there is a fragment of a magic spell, but unfortunately I couldn't memorize it completely. Is this also due to the illusion?"
He then recited a passage of scripture on the spot, inviting everyone present to appreciate it.
"I vaguely remember that this is a top-tier technique I exchanged with a Dao Child in Different World." An Old Heavenly Immortal being spoke up, "Hmm, it is indeed very profound and worth practicing. Is there no further development?"
The Great Sage pondered deeply and said, "It's gone, or rather, the subsequent chapters have been completely forgotten."
Immediately, a commotion broke out.
Could Ruin Demon really transmit magic?
The Blood Buddha seemed to ponder this, and said, "Passing on the Dharma is not impossible. After all, it is a special life form at the Dao Venerable level. Although its time in this Eternal Presence is relatively short, who can say for sure what all its abilities are?"
The most potent hallucinogenic fragrance and the beast form are just two completely different abilities known to the Ruin Demon; their parent plants are different, and the domains they manifest are also different.
"After all, there are various legends about the origin of the Ruin Demon."
One theory suggests that the Ruin Demon is the final manifestation of the Dao of Life left behind by an unparalleled powerhouse in the world, a final leap before its dissipation, a desire for a Great Nirvana.
The result was obvious: they were reduced to ashes.
Another interpretation is that this is a harbinger of a dramatic change in the world, and that the Flower of Great Dao is withering.
Others believe that this is due to a temporal distortion, an unexpected collision between history and the Present World, resulting in the flower of sin that should not have appeared, hence the short lifespan.
Now that things have come to this, everyone is trying to convince themselves that it was all just a dream.
