Origin and Sealing

Matatabi was one of the nine Tailed Beasts created when the Sage of Six Paths divided the Ten-Tails’ chakra. She recognizes Six Paths Power as the force responsible for their birth 639 1238.

After the hidden villages were established, Hashirama Senju captured the Tailed Beasts and distributed them among the major villages. They became sealed weapons of war. Matatabi eventually belonged to Kumogakure, where Yugito became her jinchūriki at two years old 384 644 675.

Killer B taught Yugito to control Matatabi’s power. However, their relationship was not as close as B’s partnership with Gyuki, and Yugito’s youth prevented her from completely mastering the Two-Tails 638.

Battle Against Saiki Yuu

When Yugito confronted Yuu, Matatabi manifested inside Killer B’s mental space to question Gyuki. She had sensed Yuu’s Six Paths Power and was troubled by his unexplained knowledge of the Tailed Beasts. After learning that his power was still inferior to their creator’s, she agreed to cooperate with Gyuki and support Yugito without holding back 639 640.

Matatabi joined Gyuki and the Fourth Raikage in breaking Yuu’s black-purple slash. The encounter caused her intense pain, while Gyuki warned that Yuu’s attacks appeared capable of damaging Tailed Beasts’ souls 641.

Yuu subsequently intimidated and beat Matatabi with Armament Haki and his scabbard.
