"Are you kidding me? At such an important time for acquiring Osborn Corporation, he actually ran off to Las Vegas to enjoy himself? Does he have any sense of responsibility at all?"
Old Green Goblin cursed furiously. Las Vegas was quite far from New York; even by plane, it took several hours. In his current condition, there was no way he could go there!
Frustrated, Old Green Goblin could only deal with the others first. He put on the Biochemical Armor, donned the Green Goblin Mask, and attacked the Experiment Base of his competitor, Aerospace Company, blowing their Humanoid Armor, executives, and Department of Defense officials to bits.
On one hand, this was revenge against his competitor and the Department of Defense. On the other, it would delay the signing of their contract. Once he took Osborn Corporation back, he could sign a new deal with them.
Things went smoothly. The only thing that annoyed Old Green Goblin was that General Slocum, frightened by the previous incident, had not come this time and escaped disaster.
After blowing up his rival's Experiment Base, Old Green Goblin began attacking the company's directors. On one hand, it was revenge; on the other, it would prevent Wang Bert from buying their shares. He could also rob them of a large amount of money. After all, he had plenty of ways to launder it! As a result, New York's murder rate skyrocketed. Police Chief George Stacy was so furious that he ordered the police to patrol around the clock and capture that elusive criminal no matter what! The police never encountered the flying Old Green Goblin, but one person did: Spider-Man, who was swinging through the air!
Spider-Man clung to the wall of a skyscraper and shouted at Old Green Goblin, "You just killed someone! Don't run!"
"Just you?"
Old Green Goblin sneered. Two gun barrels extended from beneath his Glider and opened rapid fire on Spider-Man.
Spider-Man jumped in fright and hurriedly shot a web at the building opposite him. Then he pushed off with both feet and swung away. The bullets struck the large glass panels behind him, shattering them with a crash and sending them raining down below. Pedestrians screamed again and again in terror!
"Throwing things from high places is illegal!"
Spider-Man kicked off the side of the building and pounced toward Old Green Goblin. Old Green Goblin controlled his Glider to dodge, but two clumps of webbing stuck to the bottom of it. Spider-Man swung hard through the air, kicking both legs toward Old Green Goblin.
Old Green Goblin jumped off the Glider to evade Spider-Man's attack, then raised his hand and threw two high-tech flying blades that could attack automatically at Spider-Man!
The flying blades first cut through the webbing, then spun furiously as they sliced toward Spider-Man. Spider-Man dodged repeatedly in panic and shouted, "What the hell are these things?"
Taking the opportunity, Old Green Goblin controlled the Glider to catch himself. He had wanted to finish Spider-Man off here, but then he heard police sirens coming from below! Old Green Goblin cursed and decided to leave first. Spider-Man used his agility to shake off the two flying blades, then used his webs to move at high speed between the skyscrapers, relentlessly pursuing Old Green Goblin.
After spotting the target, the police cars below also began chasing Old Green Goblin through the sky. Seeing this, Old Green Goblin gave a savage grin and controlled his Glider to launch missiles.
With a boom, the police car was blasted into the air before crashing heavily into an outdoor café ahead and rolling several times. Several unlucky pedestrians, along with tables and chairs, were flung away by the impact. It was unknown whether they were dead or alive! But it was not over. Another boom rang out as the police car exploded, the Shockwave knocking over nearby people and furniture while flames spread rapidly.
Spider-Man was horrified. Forgetting about pursuing Old Green Goblin, he hurried down to save people. Unfortunately, although he did everything he could, several people still died, and more than ten were injured.
The incident quickly made the news. Not only were the police harshly criticized, but Spider-Man also received plenty of blame. The Daily Bugle even pointed out that if Spider-Man had not pursued that Green Goblin, so many people would never have died!
The Daily Bugle's term, Green Goblin, officially became Norman's nickname!
Spider-Man was somewhat depressed by the criticism. During sparring practice that night, Trish landed several punches on him! Confused, Trish asked, "What's wrong with you today? You seem so listless."
After getting to know her over the past few days, Peter had learned about Trish's dream. He asked, "Trish, do you think Spider-Man did something wrong today?"
Trish answered with absolute certainty, "Of course not. The one who was wrong was that Green Goblin. He's so vicious. If he isn't caught as soon as possible, who knows how many more people will die in the future?"
Peter still felt a little guilty. He said, "Green Goblin is indeed vicious, but if Spider-Man hadn't chased him, so many people wouldn't have died today!"
"By your logic, are the police wrong for chasing criminals too?"
Trish scoffed. "Go look through cases from past years. This sort of thing happens all the time. The police weren't wrong, and Spider-Man was even less wrong. All right, don't waste time. Let's keep training. I want to become a Super Hero as soon as possible and catch criminals!"
"Okay."
Peter hurriedly assumed his stance, but inwardly, he made up his mind. He had to capture Green Goblin and bring him to justice!...
In Las Vegas, Wang Bert saw the New York news reports and could not help shaking his head. The first widely known supervillain had been born.
"What is going on these days? Why are so many weird things popping up? First Iron Man, then Spider-Man, and now Green Goblin?"
Frank shook his head repeatedly. He had finally begun fulfilling his official duty: private bodyguard!
"With Super Heroes come super criminals!"
Wang Bert smiled. "Frank, you need to learn qi as soon as possible. I don't want to see anything happen to you! Mercury and Xue Ren started training at the same time as you, and they've both learned it already!"
"That stuff is too hard to train. Besides, even if I don't cultivate qi, nothing will happen to me. I'm Frank Castle, the best special forces soldier there is!"
Frank spoke proudly. Wang Bert glanced at the thermos in his hand and teased, "A special forces soldier carrying a thermos every day? Fine, you're a big Western guy who drinks hot water, but you even put Goji Berries in it. Who taught you that?"
"What's wrong with drinking hot water? Who says we can only drink ice water?"
Frank said irritably, "As for the Goji Berries, Xue Ren taught me. He said they're good for your health!"
"If you need health supplements, that means your stamina is already declining!"
Wang Bert said, "Frank, once you cultivate qi, your body will remain at its peak forever. Not only will it help in combat, it will also make you and Maria happier. You might even have a third child!"
Frank's eyes lit up. "It can do that too? I didn't go to school much, so don't lie to me."
Wang Bert said, "If you master qi, I guarantee you'll still be able to have children at eighty!"
"I can, but Maria won't be able to, okay?"
Frank complained. "Still, if that's one of the benefits, I can put some effort into practicing. Maria has always wanted more children. We just couldn't afford it before, but now we can!"
As the two spoke, Natasha entered with a phone and said, "Blood God, Director Fury is calling!"
"Tell him I'm on vacation and don't have time!"
Wang Bert knew Fury wanted to ask about Green Goblin, so he ignored him. Natasha nodded and took the phone outside. A moment later, she returned. This time, it was Carter calling! Wang Bert gestured for Natasha to leave before answering. Carter asked with some dissatisfaction, "Why did you tell Tony about Howard?"
"Ms. Carter, who is Tony Stark?"
Wang Bert asked. Carter was taken aback. "What do you mean?"
"Tony Stark is not a nephew who needs your care. He is the chairman of Stark Industries, Iron Man who protects world peace, and a Super Hero admired by countless people!"
Wang Bert said, "He has both the right and the ability to investigate his parents' deaths. Besides, S.H.I.E.L.D. has already begun trying to recruit him. Do you want him to follow in his father's footsteps?"
Carter hesitated. "This..."
Wang Bert said, "Ms. Carter, he will be a great helper to you, because there is no way he could be one of them. I think you should tell him everything!"
"I'll think about it!"
Carter was somewhat shaken. She asked, "Why did you go to Las Vegas at a time like this? What exactly is going on with that Green Goblin?"
"How would I know?" Wang Bert said. "As for why I came to the Casino, I'm here to buy something. The seller insisted on making the deal here!"
"You don't know?" Carter said. "The people who died were all directors of Osborn Corporation. Blood God, are you using someone else's knife to kill?"
"Ms. Carter, we may know each other well, but if you keep making baseless accusations like that, I'll still sue you for defamation!"
Wang Bert smiled. "I'll be back in a few days. By then, Osborn Corporation will officially become ours!"
Carter did not press the matter further. She said, "Managing one Blood God Group is already exhausting enough for me. You need to find someone else to manage Osborn Corporation!"
"I'm planning to have Mercury take over Osborn Corporation. She's currently getting familiar with the company's detailed information!"
After finishing the matter, Wang Bert hung up. Was he using someone else's knife to kill? Of course he was. Osborn Corporation would be his Osborn Corporation alone. He had no need for others standing around and telling him what to do! The funds Wang Bert had prepared for so long were not merely for becoming an ordinary major shareholder! Frank said, "The way you are now, you really look like one of those evil capitalists from the movies!"
"What capitalist isn't evil? Behind all that glamour, every one of them is full of filth!"
Wang Bert shrugged and said, "I wonder when that seller will send a message. Let's go out and have some fun first. Las Vegas is heaven to me! You can have fun and make money at the same time!"
Frank asked in confusion, "What are you buying that you had to come all the way to Las Vegas for it?"
"A special metal worth ten thousand dollars per gram!"
Wang Bert smiled. "That seller is the only one in the world who has it, so I have no choice but to accommodate him."
Frank was astonished. "Ten thousand dollars per gram? That's much more expensive than gold!"
"Its value is beyond comparison with gold!"
Wang Bert said, "That seller is extremely cautious. I had to use the Vampire channels just to get him to agree to trade with me! In the dark world, the Vampire name carries a lot of weight!"
"So he knows who you are?" Frank asked.
"Yes!"
Wang Bert nodded. At that moment, a very old cellphone in his pocket rang. After taking it out and answering, he nodded. "All right. I'll be right there!"
Wang Bert put down the phone and said to Frank, "Frank, get ready to move out. Have the men bring the gear. Don't get excited, this isn't a black-on-black robbery. It's just for show. If we look too weak, they might get bad ideas!"
"No wonder you had me bring so many people."
Frank understood. He got up and went out to make preparations. Soon, a convoy left the hotel and headed for an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
Inside the abandoned warehouse, Wang Bert had barely stepped out of the car when a bearded man with facial tattoos and a sleazy air—someone who clearly looked like bad news—walked over laughing. "Blood God, I've heard so much about you!"
Besides this man, there were more than ten heavily armed burly men in the warehouse. Their presence was fierce and cruel, like pirates! In fact, they occasionally worked as pirates too! "Mr. Klaue, you're too polite!"
Wang Bert stepped forward and shook hands with Ulysses Klaue. A drop of blood silently entered the other man's body. Then he released his hand and asked, "Mr. Klaue, where's the merchandise?"
Ulysses noticed nothing wrong. He smiled. "Blood God, you really are impatient. This way, please. I brought all ten kilograms of Vibranium you wanted!"
Wang Bert followed Ulysses forward and said, "Ten kilograms of Vibranium, worth over a hundred million dollars. Mr. Klaue, you've made quite a fortune these past few years, haven't you?"
Ulysses shook his head. "I make a lot, but I spend even more. Besides, this little bit of Vibranium doesn't amount to much!"
"That's true. Someone has a whole mountain of Vibranium. I've never dared call myself the richest man because I'm not as wealthy as they are."
Ulysses froze for a moment. He asked, "You know the inside story of that place?"
"The longer you live, the more you naturally know!"
Wang Bert smiled. "But no one would believe it even if I told them. Who would have thought that a country with technology even stronger than America's would disguise itself as an extremely poor nation needing aid from the council?"
"Yeah, no one would believe it!"
Ulysses sighed. "I've always felt that even America might not be able to defeat that country!"
"Not necessarily. That country has been pretending all this time and hasn't fought many wars. If a real war broke out, they might not be a match. Wars still have to be fought by people. Technology is only one part of it!"
Wang Bert and Ulysses chatted happily, while Natasha and Frank behind them were dumbfounded. Frank could not help asking, "Bert, what country are you talking about? Stronger than America? That can't be possible, right?"
"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you, so I won't!"
Wang Bert said as he turned around. Ulysses deeply agreed. "No need to say it, because no one would believe it!"
"Come to think of it, if not for the lack of evidence, I'd really like to tell S.H.I.E.L.D. about this," Wang Bert said. "Those people have persecution complexes. If they found out a country like that existed, they'd definitely lose sleep and appetite. They might even piss themselves from fright!"
"That really might happen!"
Ulysses laughed loudly. Natasha frowned. Were these two joking, or were they telling the truth? If they were telling the truth, Director Fury probably would not piss himself, but he definitely would not be sleeping. That Ancient One incident last time had already made him lose sleep and appetite for a month!
Natasha thought to herself, Good thing the Director is already bald. At least he doesn't have to worry about losing his hair!
