Sean selected Thor as a Knight Squire after judging him to have the physique and potential needed for knight training. Thor accepted with great excitement, and Sean formally recruited him with Viscount Winchester's approval. 20 Thor swore his oath before Sean at a witnessing ceremony, where Viscount Winchester and Jamie Winchester also acknowledged him as a squire serving the family. 20

After moving into the castle, Thor received instruction in the Winchester family's Knight Secret Method, horsemanship, and swordsmanship.
