Quality Position
| Equipment Quality | Documented distinction |
|---|---|
| Purple | Quality differences are strongly affected by negative effects; powerful effects may be outweighed by severe permanent drawbacks. |
| Orange | Quality is chiefly judged by function and practical utility. |
| Red | Equipment is divided by origin, potential, paths, and exclusivity; its traits can surpass Orange Equipment and influence battlefields, Game Worlds, or the Real World. 2044 1690 |
Core Mechanics
Routes and Binding
Red Equipment commonly possesses four special routes. After binding, its user may assign individual routes to different roles. 2671
- Binding Protection — one chosen route automatically releases its strongest technique if someone attempts to kill the binder or forcibly remove the binding.
- Main Combat Route — one chosen route receives a 150% power increase over the remaining routes.
- Battle Aura — one route begins active as a Battle Aura; additional Battle Auras can unlock through level growth or other methods.
- Lending — usage counts from one route can be separated and loaned to players or subordinates, unless the route is exclusive.
Double Red Equipment Resonance
Two Red Equipment pieces can produce resonance when their binder researches compatible paths. The effect is not automatic, and different pieces or paths may have separate requirements. 2671 2982
- Resonance can combine the effects of two Red Equipment paths.
- Exclusive paths have stricter resonance conditions than ordinary paths.
- Red Equipment relationships can become unstable after the items develop self-awareness. 3201
Limits of the Holder
Red Equipment can overwhelm Orange Equipment, but it does not make its user invulnerable. A holder can still be injured, cursed, isolated from support, or otherwise targeted through personal weaknesses. 1341
- A highly offensive Red Equipment may leave its user with insufficient defense.
- Defeating the holder can be more practical than directly confronting the equipment.
- Captured Red Equipment from other races can be claimed, but Human practice favors assigning it to a suitable new binder rather than having one holder bind multiple pieces. 1759
Classification
| Type | Description | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Pseudo Red Equipment | An item that reached Red quality through unusual luck rather than inherent potential; further advancement is generally limited. | Griffon Black Throne 2044 |
| Ordinary Red Equipment | A flexible Red Equipment whose direction changes according to its binder and class. | Nether Spirit Flower, Killing Demon Sword, Gemstone Gauntlet 2044 |
| Combined Red Equipment | Formed by assembling specific equipment pieces according to a defined set or standard. | Nine-tailed Divine Might; future Ghost King Cloak combination 2044 |
| Powerful Red Equipment | Superior-grade Red Equipment emphasizing immense power and a broad range of influence. | — |
| Advancement Red Equipment | A higher-grade secondary advancement of an existing Red Equipment. | — |
| Exclusive Red Equipment | Bound to a specific user, class, or condition; other users cannot employ it. | Serpent Poison Dagger; Hand of Death 2044 3319 |
Acquisition and Creation
Original Ownership and Binding
The first person to complete a Red Equipment-related task is believed to become its original owner; later users are treated as binders or holders. 1341
Red Equipment is self-sustaining only when it possesses sufficient energy. Incomplete pieces may instead draw directly on a player's life force or origin until they activate, making uncontrolled contact highly dangerous. 1354
Known Sources
- Red Equipment quests — Orange Equipment can be upgraded through a Red Equipment task when the correct fragments, materials, and nurturing conditions are available. 1360
- Ancient God Corpses — discovering one can earn a new Red Equipment reward, as Ancient God Corpses are major sources of both Game Worlds and Red Equipment. 2185
- Boss drops — the defeated Katlas Beast released four distinct Red Equipment pieces. 3037
- Nurturing — Quasi Red Equipment can be cultivated into true Red Equipment. 2063
- Combination and forging — Red Equipment paths, Orange Equipment, special materials, and suitable wonders can be used to create combined Red Equipment. 2597
Incomplete and Patched Equipment
Artificially patched Red Equipment is unstable. The Morda People's Great Map Totem combined multiple incompatible Red Equipment fragments, but collapsed into powerless gray debris after its energy was exhausted. 2319 2324
- Patched equipment may have fewer usable abilities than complete Red Equipment.
- Fragments can act as energy sources rather than fully functional equipment.
- Red Equipment fragments may be forcibly combined, but the resulting item can be unable to bind or sustain itself. 2325 2326
Known Red Equipment
| Equipment | Type / User | Notable traits |
|---|---|---|
| Kindling | Human Player Red Equipment No. 1 | Detects Red Equipment holders within its influence and offers equipment-number registration. Its appearance marked the beginning of widespread Human Player Red Equipment. 1758 |
| Nether Spirit Flower | Ordinary Red Equipment; Gu Xi's No. 1039 | Originally suited to a Death Knight, but begins shifting toward a Necromancer-oriented form after Gu Xi acquires it. 2044 2752 |
| Death Mane | Gu Xi's No. 1051 | One of Gu Xi's Red Equipment and a basis for his Double Red Equipment Resonance research. 2752 2671 |
| Twisted Curse Armor | Combined Red Equipment; bound to the Magic Mirror Victoria City Corpse Pile War God Statue | Occupies four equipment slots and enables spatial positioning, allowing the Corpse Pile War God to appear near a held coordinate item. 2597 |
| Imperial Evil Lance | Unbound mounted two-handed weapon | Grants weapon and riding mastery, armor-piercing and bleeding attacks, and a Fight to the Death effect for commanded troops; requires defeating or killing an emperor and completing its binding mission. 2825 |
| Great Furnace | Forging-focused Red Equipment | Specializes in weapon and equipment forging rather than direct combat power. 2948 |
| Clover Ring | Fate-type Powerful Red Equipment | Its Fate Avatar path can extract a past or future period to form an avatar that gathers information or exerts limited influence. 2982 |
| Hand of Death | Gu Xi's Exclusive Red Equipment | A Divine Artifact originating from Death; cannot lend its power or separate route usages for others. 3319 3320 |
| Colorful Painting Brush | Support Red Equipment | A painting tool with four routes; Gu Xi intends to use it through a clone to equip additional Red Equipment. 3110 |
Red Equipment Guardians
A Red Equipment Guardian can emerge when equipment or an equipment-derived existence reaches Red quality.
- Red Equipment Guardian—Undead Origin — became a Red Equipment Guardian after the book Undead Origin reached material-grade Red quality; provides Gu Xi with information on Red Equipment paths and undeadification. 2585
- Red Equipment Guardian—Blacksmith — specializes in forging Orange Equipment and rough Red Equipment forms when given suitable materials. 2353 2590
Registration and Responsibilities
- Entering Kindling's influence range in the Real World allows a Red Equipment holder to report the equipment's name and apply for an official number. 1758
- Public Red Equipment exhibitions establish that a holder genuinely possesses the item and can help secure allies. 1572
- Holders are expected to participate in a Red Equipment Game once every ten years for rewards and equipment strengthening. 1759
- Holders may also be assigned duties including garrisoning border star territories and strengthening Human Players. 1759
Trivia
- Red Equipment was considered so rare that Gu Xi's textbook recorded only names and owners, not effects, for 1,037 known pieces. 741
- Red Equipment may develop self-awareness, causing friction or active conflict among different pieces. 3201
- Some Red Equipment is unsuitable for undead, particular classes, or even its owner; the Imperial Evil Lance explicitly rejected Gu Xi despite being in his possession. 2826
