A wedding!
Angel was initially a little surprised, but then heartfelt joy welled up within her.
Back in Tingen, she had tried to bring together this couple, who secretly loved each other without knowing their feelings were mutual, and had nearly been scared to death by an enormous gas lamp for her trouble. For a long time after the incident involving Ince Zangwill and "0-08," she had thought Daly would spend the rest of her life in grief and loss, and that her first attempt at matchmaking could only end in failure.
Until they had exacted their revenge on Zangwill, and Dunn Smith, the "Goddess Heart," had appeared...
"But I remember you originally scheduled the wedding for Ms. Daly's birthday?"
Angel asked, somewhat puzzled.
The scene at the Tingen Team's reunion dinner, when Dunn had put on a monocle and taken out a ring to propose to Daly, still lingered in Angel's mind. The wedding had been scheduled for Daly's birthday in October.
Although the sudden outbreak of war had disrupted their plans, it was only mid-August now. Dunn had more than enough time to arrange it for October this year, rather than rushing to hold the wedding immediately after the war ended.
"It was Daly's idea. She was worried that something else might happen if we waited another two months... Too many of our comrades lost their lives in the war."
Dunn answered, his gray eyes dimming slightly.
So that was it. They were afraid another unforeseen event would separate them again, and witnessing partings in life and death on the battlefield had made them treasure each other all the more. Whether the wedding date was suitable no longer mattered... Angel nodded in understanding. Instead of asking any more questions, she answered softly:
"Klein and I will be there."
