Angel had only been joking. She felt that her relationship with Klein did not need a formal wedding to cement it, and although her memories of her previous life had grown somewhat hazy, that life had lasted far longer than these two years as a woman, leaving her less attached to such things.
But to her surprise, Klein's suggestion made her eyes light up.
That was right. Over these two years, they had taken on several different identities together: coworkers in a small city, collaborators in a metropolis, adventuring companions above the Five Seas... All those identities had ended because of unforeseen circumstances or been willingly abandoned by the two of them. Perhaps a wedding would be the best way to give each one a perfect ending.
And since Angel worried that Klein lacked enough "humanity" to withstand the erosion of divinity within his Beyonder Characteristics, she had always welcomed such activities.
She pondered for a moment, then looked at Klein with feigned hesitation and answered:
"How about we do each one?"
As if he had anticipated that answer, Klein clapped his hands and said with a smile:
"Then why not do them all at once? In the Marionette Town I'm envisioning, I can prepare all our identities beforehand. For example, two rookies at a security company that collects and protects antiquities, a young private detective with a fake beard stuck to his face and his client-slash-partner, a cold adventurer who wanders into town and a female pirate with an astonishing bounty, and a vacationing middle-aged millionaire with his fiancée who has only just come of age..."
How are you so good at this? Have you been planning it all along...? Angel listened, dumbfounded, but as Klein continued talking without pause, a flicker of anticipation stirred within her. She could
