As he watched the wooden door that had abruptly appeared—like some marvelous gadget a certain blue robotic cat in his memories had pulled from its pocket—being pushed open from the other side, Klein's expression stiffened slightly. Still, he managed to keep smiling and did not immediately invoke his authority over Sefirah Castle to eject the item from the gray fog or destroy it outright.
In fact, even if he had wanted to, he could not have done so now, because the sefirah would prevent such an action, just as he could not stand above the gray fog and order it to kill him.
The other party also possessed a degree of control over Sefirah Castle, with authority no less than his own!
Upon realizing this, he simply sat quietly in the Fool's high-backed chair and watched the wooden door swing fully open. A black-haired young man wearing a pointed hat and a black robe walked slowly through, casually closed the door, then went straight to the chair opposite Klein and plopped down.
He adjusted the monocle over his right eye, surveyed his surroundings with interest, and only then turned his gaze to Klein, asking with a smile:
"Surprised? Didn't see that coming?"
"A little," Klein answered honestly, resting both hands on the table without making any unnecessary movements. "When did you find out?"
Amon raised his eyebrows as though asking, "Find out what?" Then he said in a teasing tone:
"First, you've gotten something wrong. What I'm after is Sefirah Castle, not you. Whoever becomes the Fool will be my target.
"Second, did you really think that fooling Zarathus into accommodating the Uniqueness of his own accord would deceive me? That fellow is terrified of death. If the risks are unacceptable, he would rather remain a Miracle Invoker through the
