Mirror shards?
Leonard felt even more bewildered than when he had seen Klein Moretti's empty coffin. He reached out with his dirt-stained hand, trying to pick up the shard that looked somewhat unreal in the dim grave, only to find that the moment his fingers touched its cold surface, it silently disintegrated into wisps of shimmering dust, sank into the coffin's lining, and vanished without a trace.
An illusion, or...
He felt the velvet lining. Although the inside of the coffin was slightly damp, there was no sign that a "corpse" had ever lain there. The powder from the shattered mirror shard wasn't real either, leaving him almost doubting his own eyes.
Only after a moment did Leonard lift his head and look up at Daly. Finding her just as bewildered as he was, he finally confirmed that what he had seen wasn't an illusion.
"What does it mean when a mirror shard disappears as soon as it's exposed to light?"
He asked softly, only realizing how hoarse his voice was after he spoke.
"Perhaps it's a Witch's mirror spell. She used Mirror Substitution during... that battle. You mentioned it in your report."
Daly explained with her head lowered, her expression hidden inside her hood.
How could Mirror Substitution last for several days, right up until we put her in a coffin and buried her?
Leonard, who had witnessed the entire funeral, pressed his lips together, unsure how to refute her. He guessed that the person in his head knew the answer, but with Daly here, he couldn't pretend to be mad and talk to himself.
Still...
"In any case, neither grave contains a body. That confirms our suspicions. Klein and Angel really are still alive, and they've changed their appearances and acquired new identities. They even tried to sneak
