Becoming a "Demoness"

Apart from the Honorific Names of Gods that had spread throughout the world and were used in formal mysticism rituals, Angel knew only one four-part Honorific Name that pointed to an Angel:

"The empire's last afterglow, the ruler Above the Five Seas, the balancer of order in the Spirit World..."

From those lines, Angel could tell what an Honorific Name needed to point to Anne.

The empire means the Trensoest Empire. That means her Honorific Name was revised during the Fifth Epoch, and it points to the empire's "afterglow" that still exists in the world—the Ghost Ships they built. The second line reinforces that idea and limits it to Above the Five Seas, excluding certain ancient Angels. The last line identifies her Sequence as "Balancer"...

As she pondered, Angel wrote the first line of her own description on the parchment:

"Queen Feared by Pirates."

It was an unmistakable pointer, narrowing the target almost directly to the two Pirate Queens, with perhaps a few Pirate Admirals included. The more widely known the name "Angelica Zaki" became, the better this line of the Honorific Name would work.

Drawing on the legend of the Golden Queen, she soon wrote the second and third lines:

"Master of the Spirit World Boat;

"Nightmare of Thousands of Ships."

The two lines described Angel's position as temporary captain of the Queen Anne's Revenge and her various "great deeds." Behind that weighty title lay the bitter histories of famous ships such as the City Breaker, the Black Death, the Black Tulip, and the Flesh and Blood Tree.

For a True God, that would have been enough. Even if the Honorific Name's target was somewhat unclear, Their high level would ensure that a ritual chose Them first. But Angel was only Sequence 4, so she added two more lines
