June 28, 1349 was the day Klein first met Angel Granger.

Not the day he had hurried onto a Public Carriage and met his young female colleague, when they introduced themselves. Nor the day he had gone with his brother and sister to look at a house on Daffodil Street and spotted the beautiful "suspect" during a chance encounter with his captain.

It was the day he, as the "Fool," had brought the "Empress" into the palace above the Gray Fog and formally established the Tarot Club.

That was why Klein clearly remembered the "Empress," Angel, asking the "Hanged Man" for help obtaining a false identity, then thanking him at the Second Tarot Gathering.

She had said, "I have a friend," but Klein, well versed in tired internet jokes, had seen through it at once. Angel had wanted the false identity for herself.

That meant that whatever Angel's previous identity had been, the one she had presented to the Nighthawks—and to Klein—was forged.

As for the true source of her Potion formulas, and her knowledge of the Acting Method and mysticism far beyond that of an ordinary person, those hardly counted as major problems once her identity itself was in doubt.

So after confirming that the "Empress" was Angel Granger, Klein had always harbored a trace of suspicion. He had even used his position to repeatedly review the case files on Madam Sharon, along with the records kept in Tingen City after Angel joined the Nighthawks.
