"Amon" Phobia

"Blasphemer" Amon, the legendary "King of Angels" who had existed for several epochs!

At Mr. World's words, everyone held their breath.

Derrick, the Sun, who had seen Amon's Avatar with his own eyes, even had the illusion that the figure wearing a pointed soft hat and a monocle over his right eye was lurking in the surrounding fog. He kept looking over his shoulder, his movements so pronounced that the Hanged Man and the Moon beside him grew uncomfortable.

After a moment, Audrey, Justice, finally spoke with some hesitation:

"What is his—I mean, his avatar's—purpose in coming to this city?"

In her surprise, she had even forgotten to conceal through her wording that she, too, was in Backlund, although most members already knew.

The same question lingered in everyone else's minds. Even Alger and Cattleya, far overseas, and Derrick in the Forsaken Land of the Gods turned their gazes toward the World, who had made this startling announcement.

"'Avatars,' plural. Amon's ability allows him to create countless avatars, each at least Sequence 4, with the strongest possibly even reaching Sequence 2. Once these avatars obtain additional Beyonder characteristics—Marauder Beyonder characteristics—they can split again and parasitize humans or various animals. Their numbers may therefore far exceed your imagination."

"That really sounds like a plague. A plague called 'Amon.'"

Fors, the Magician, murmured, her heart divided between delight at hearing of a bizarre incident she could use as writing material and fear stemming from her knowledge of mysticism.

"As for their purpose in coming to Backlund," Klein continued after Fors's remark, "it's primarily to seek out Beyonders and Mystical Items of the Marauder pathway so they can absorb their Beyonder characteristics. Secondarily, it may have something to do with the current state of the world. After all, he is that being's brother."
