Shortly after advancing to an "Affliction" Demoness and setting out to sea with Klein, who had assumed the identity of the Mad Adventurer Gehrman Sparrow, Angel had briefly stopped on an island called Bansy and been caught up in unrest sparked by an ancient local faith.
During that brief but bizarre night, a bishop of the local Church of Storms had succumbed to primitive blood sacrifices. Leading a group of cultists, he had abducted residents and attempted to perform a ritual at an altar on the mountaintop to resurrect the so-called "Weather God." Angel and a small squad of Mandated Punishers had stopped them in time, preventing a tragedy.
After that brief battle, some of Angel's blood had dripped onto the altar, activating a rune that actually represented "calamity." She had been teleported to Trier's Underground Catacombs along with the dead bishop of the Church of Storms.
Of course, Angel had later learned why this had happened. The entire Bansy Harbor—"Binsy" in the Fourth Epoch—had been the territory of Medici, a King of Angel, and had been contaminated by power leaking from the City of Calamity, establishing a connection with that sefirah. This had created a two-way "Teleportation" ritual between it and Trier, another location affected by the same power.
This wondrous ritual would return its user to the moment they had entered when they made the "return journey," even if they had already spent several days on the other side.
In a sense, this was also a kind of "time travel."
Although the ritual could only bring someone from the "future" back to the "present," rather than from the "present" back to the "past," it was a good way to buy time under the current circumstances.
At this thought, Angel abandoned her conversation with the Mirror Person and raced
