Origin and History

Descent and mutation

The first-generation Demon God Emperor crossed space with the Seventy-Two Demon Gods and conquered the Saint Demon Continent. The initial arrival did not immediately transform the continent's inhabitants; demonization spread gradually as native races adapted to the influence of the pillars. Humanity's internal wars accelerated the rise of the Demon Race and ushered in the Dark Ages 394 761.

The Demon Gods were outsiders, but the majority of their subjects were originally native life forms changed by demonic influence. They were also refugees from a world destroyed by Austin Griffin, and their conflict with humanity was intensified by shrinking living space on the continent 625.

Rule over the continent

The Demon God Emperor and the Seventy-Two Demon Gods suppressed humanity's six great temples for roughly six thousand years. Each successive Demon God Emperor inherited the name Feng Xiu, while the position itself became the symbol of the race's absolute authority 276 394.

Despite their superior overall strength, the Demon Race did not exterminate humanity. Their leaders understood that, as beings incompatible with the world's will, humanity's extinction would eventually lead to their own demise 279.

Decline of Demon Race dominance

During the later Holy War, repeated defeats, losses among the Demon Gods, and the emergence of multiple Divine Thrones weakened the Demon Race's long-held advantage. Feng Xiu ultimately ordered a retreat after the battle at Yu Long Pass rather than risk the race's remaining foundation 741 760.

Human and demon forces later coordinated against threats beyond their conflict, with the Moon Demon God Agares and human representatives arranging joint operations 766. Following Loki's defeat, the Demon Race's shadow over the Saint Demon Continent was lifted 774.

Demon God Pillars

The Demon Race is governed through the Seventy-Two Demon God Pillars, which empower their associated Demon Gods and clans. Pillars are directly tied to a Demon God's fate and can be used for amplification, spatial escape, domains, and large-scale defensive formations 357 585 717.

• The Demon God Emperor stands at the apex of the hierarchy and commands the Heaven Defying Demon Dragon Race.
• Demon God rankings are not permanently fixed; weaker rulers may be replaced by stronger challengers 172 293.
• Heart City is the political and cultivation center of the race. Residence there is generally reserved for direct Demon God bloodlines, and its dense dark aura accelerates cultivation 618.
• Demon God heirs possess Crowns of Inheritance, which are treated as vital clan assets and symbols of their bloodline succession 412 415.
