"Just what kind of mission did that brat Ywen take?!"
Makarov came before the S-Class Mission board on the second floor. Looking over the neat, untouched mission sheets one by one, he scratched his sparse hair in confusion. He simply could not tell which mission Ywen had taken.
"Could he have taken an ordinary mission?!"
"No, that's the one thing that's absolutely impossible..."
"He's definitely not the kind of person who behaves himself..."
Makarov had originally wanted to check the ordinary mission board downstairs, but on second thought, Ywen was the kind of person who could get along with Gildarts. There was no way he would obediently follow the rules and complete those low-level missions.
But none of the S-Class Mission sheets had been touched...
"Could it be..."
As Makarov thought of this, he seemed to realize something. His expression changed sharply, and he hurried toward the board where SS-Class and even higher-ranked missions were kept...
Only when Makarov reached the board did he discover that it, which had not been cleaned in years, had been thoroughly dusted. And among the mission sheets covering the board, one was indeed missing.
"Just as I thought! That idiot Ywen!"
Makarov cursed under his breath as he stared at the missing mission sheet.
"I remember this mission being..."
"Huh? Strange, why can't I remember it?!"
"It's right on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't recall it..."
Makarov stared at the empty spot and racked his brain, trying to remember which mission he had placed there. But the mission sheets here had been around for far too long. Even after thinking for ages, he still could not remember.
"Guild Master! Ywen registered the mission he went to carry out at the registration desk!"
Just as Makarov was wracking his brains, Macao's voice rang out from downstairs.
"Hm?!" Upon hearing Macao's shout, Makarov immediately leaped down and landed before him. "Which mission did Ywen go to do?!"
"Uh, the mission Ywen took is..."
"Guild Master, you should see for yourself!"
Macao looked at Makarov hesitantly. After thinking for a moment, he placed the mission registration form in front of him.
"This is..."
Makarov's eyes widened as he looked at the mission registration form bearing Ywen's name that Macao had handed him.
"This is... a mission to subjugate Deliora?!"
"That idiot Ywen! He actually chose this mission of all things!"
"Anyone, hurry up and bring Ywen back! That mission isn't something Ywen can handle right now!"
Looking at the mission Ywen had chosen, Makarov felt like his lungs were about to explode with anger.
The demon Deliora, a powerful demon said to have been created by the legendary Dark Mage Zeref!
According to historical records, Deliora had existed on this continent for hundreds of years. If not for a powerful wizard of the previous generation who sacrificed his own life to seal that demon away, no one knew how much destruction it might have wrought upon the continent...
However, for some unknown reason, Deliora's seal had been broken over a decade ago...
The demon Deliora was reborn, and on the very first day after breaking free of its seal, it destroyed an entire town. Its brutality was beyond measure!
It fully embodied the wicked nature of a demon created by Dark Mage Zeref!
In other words, Ywen's mission to subjugate the demon Deliora was not an SS-Class mission at all, but a genuine Ten-Year Mission!
In fact, if Deliora had not been sealed by wizards and only recently broken free, it might even have been assigned an even higher rank by the Magic Council...
For a mission of this level, once completed, the Magic Council would practically award the title of Ten Wizard Saints immediately!
"Guild Master, aren't you making too big a fuss? Ywen is someone who fought Gildarts to a draw. It's hard for me to imagine there being any mission in this world that Ywen can't complete."
Macao looked at the anxious Makarov and tried to persuade him softly.
"Idiot! Do you think subjugating a great demon created by Zeref is some trivial matter? Even one of the Ten Wizard Saints might not be able to do it!"
"Ywen's strength may be extraordinary, but he's still too young and lacks experience! If he gets hit by some strange magic, an accident could easily happen..."
Makarov was not questioning Ywen's strength. He was worried that Ywen's lack of experience would lead to a misjudgment. When dealing with a demon created by Dark Mage Zeref, even the slightest mistake could be fatal.
"No, I have to bring Ywen back..."
"Macao, I'll leave the guild to you for now. If anything goes wrong, find a way to smooth it over first. Wait for me to come back and deal with it..."
With a tense expression, Makarov tossed those words to Macao before running out of the guild to chase after Ywen.
"L-leave it to me?!"
Macao had not expected Makarov to entrust the guild's affairs to him, and he immediately felt rather pleased with himself.
"Could it be that the Guild Master intends to train me as the next Guild Master?"
As Macao spoke, he was already imagining himself becoming the Guild Master of Fairy Tail, proudly ordering the guild members around.
"Hey! I'm heading out to take a mission!"
Not long after Makarov left the guild, Laxus rose from his seat. He was planning to take on a mission, and...
He planned to take advantage of Makarov's absence to try completing an S-Class Mission...
"Um..."
Macao looked at Laxus, as if he wanted to say something.
"Yeah?!"
Laxus frowned, golden lightning flickering across his body.
"Uh, never mind..."
Seeing Laxus grow angry, Macao shrank back in fright and retreated several steps. In that instant, his dream of becoming Guild Master was utterly shattered.
"Good, then..."
With his hands in his pockets, Laxus leaped straight up to the second floor and arrived before the S-Class Mission board, preparing to find a mission that suited him.
Meanwhile...
Erza used communication magic to contact Aileen.
"Aileen, this is bad! Brother Ywen has gone to subjugate Deliora!"
Erza relayed everything she had heard to Aileen without changing a word.
"Erza, you should be calling me Mother," Aileen first corrected Erza's form of address before asking about Deliora. "So what exactly is this Deliora?!"
"Deliora seems to be a demon created by Dark Mage Zeref!"
"I heard it's extraordinarily powerful and incredibly brutal!"
"It has destroyed many towns and been active across the continent for more than a decade, yet no mages have managed to subjugate it!"
"Every mage who has gone to subjugate Deliora has failed..."
"Brother Ywen, he won't..."
Erza told Aileen all the rumors she had heard about Deliora.
"Huh? Zeref... I see. I think I've heard some rumors about Zeref before..."
"So, can the little cats and dogs he creates actually kill people?!"
After pondering for a moment, Aileen asked Erza in confusion.
Erza: "..."
Aileen was puzzled. During her years living on the Ishgar Continent, she had encountered demons calling themselves the Book of Zeref before, but they had all been insignificant little things that she could slap to death with one hand.
The original work never mentioned the mission to subjugate Deliora, nor did it state its rank. I figured there should have been one, and since Deliora was a demon that even a Saint Ten mage at Ul's level couldn't handle without using Iced Shell, I set it at the Ten-Year Mission level~
Lastly, as usual, I'm asking for recommendations, investments, and bookmarks. Thank you~
