Ch. 21The Beginning of a Boy Going Bad Is Not Going Home

Makarov and Gildarts celebrated the Magic Council’s praise, and Makarov warned Ywen not to take an S-Class Mission where he could be caught. Outside the guild, Ywen discovered he did not know the way home until Erza found him and repeated Cana’s warning about boys who stopped going home.

  • Makarov returned to the guild drunk, embraced Gildarts, and tearfully celebrated the Magic Council’s praise.
  • Makarov warned Ywen not to secretly take an S-Class Mission, and Ywen agreed while planning around the rule.
  • Gildarts called Ywen a genius and said he qualified for S-Class, while Makarov explained that he still respected the examination rules set by the First Guild Master.
  • Ywen left the guild and realized he did not know how to get home.
  • Erza found Ywen and told him Cana had said that not going home was the beginning of a boy going bad.

Ch. 22Guiding Erza

Ywen comforted Erza after she feared he had left again, then promised to teach her to become strong enough to join him on missions. He took her to the mountain behind Fairy Tail and gave her a wooden sword to begin swordsmanship training.

  • Ywen woke to find Erza asleep against him and joined Aileen, Illya, Eden, and Ian downstairs.
  • Erza rushed to Ywen in tears, explaining she had thought he had left without her again.
  • Ywen apologized, promised to stay with Erza for the next few days, and told her he could not bring her on dangerous missions until she was stronger.
  • Aileen said she planned to keep running her bakery rather than take guild missions.
  • After breakfast, Ywen took Erza to the mountain behind Fairy Tail, gave her a wooden sword, and announced he would teach her swordsmanship.

Ch. 23Teaching Haki

Ywen trained Erza in swordsmanship, then used Attach Magic to give her Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and Conqueror's Haki. After Erza quickly learned to coat her swords with Armament Haki, they resumed their battle, with Erza taking up a second sword to try to match him.

  • Ywen sparred with Erza for about a week, helping her develop her swordsmanship to around Level 3 or 4.
  • Ywen used Attach Magic to give Erza all three types of Haki at around Level 6.
  • Erza discovered that Haki had greatly improved her strength, perception, and spirit.
  • Ywen and Erza resumed sparring with Armament Haki coating their wooden swords, causing their clashes to smash rocks and trees.
  • Erza took up a second sword and charged at Ywen, determined to use more weapons if needed to catch up to him.

Ch. 24Laxus's Bad Luck

After months of training Erza, Ywen concluded he had taught her all he could and prepared to take missions again. At the guild, he used gravity to pin Laxus outside so he could choose a mission without being challenged.

  • Ywen ended Erza’s training, telling her that her future progress in magic, Haki, and swordsmanship depended on her own effort.
  • Erza promised to work hard and surprise Ywen with her strength when he returned from taking missions.
  • Ywen escorted Erza home, said goodbye to Aileen, and returned to the Fairy Tail guild to look for a mission.
  • Ywen found no suitable jobs on the regular mission board and headed toward the S-Class board.
  • Ywen used gravity to pin Laxus to the ground outside the guild, then floated upstairs to choose a mission.

Ch. 25A New Mission

Ywen chose an ancient, high-risk subjugation mission and left Fairy Tail while Laxus struggled through his gravity field. Laxus and Erza fought in the guild, and Makarov learned Ywen had gone on a job and went to find out which one.

  • Laxus forced his way toward Fairy Tail through Ywen's gravity magic and grew stronger with each step.
  • Ywen searched the mission boards, chose an ancient subjugation notice, and flew out through a second-floor window.
  • Laxus entered the guild after Ywen had left, then clashed with Erza when she arrived to take her first mission.
  • Makarov returned to find the guild damaged and punished Laxus and Erza by making them sit at the bar for three hours.
  • Erza told Makarov that Ywen had gone on a job, and Makarov went upstairs to check which mission he had taken.

Ch. 26The Demon Created by Zeref Is Dangerous?!

Makarov discovered that Ywen had taken a mission to subjugate Deliora, a demon created by Zeref and considered a Ten-Year Mission, and rushed after him. Erza warned Aileen, who dismissed Deliora as one of Zeref’s insignificant creations.

  • Makarov found an SS-Class-or-higher mission sheet missing and learned from Macao that Ywen had registered a mission to subjugate Deliora.
  • Makarov explained Deliora’s history and power, then ran out to bring Ywen back, leaving Macao in charge of the guild.
  • Macao imagined becoming Fairy Tail’s next Guild Master, but backed down when Laxus threatened him and went upstairs to choose an S-Class mission.
  • Erza contacted Aileen and warned her that Ywen had gone to fight Deliora.
  • Aileen corrected Erza for calling her by name and questioned whether Zeref’s creations could really kill anyone.

Ch. 27Laxus and Erza's Fierce Battle

Aileen secretly sent Eden to protect Ywen while Laxus tried to take an S-Class Mission without permission. Erza stopped Laxus, and the two prepared to settle their rivalry in a fight as the guild members placed bets.

  • Aileen reassured Erza about Ywen, then ordered Eden to catch up to him and protect him.
  • Laxus accepted an S-Class Mission, but Macao tried to stop him and was quickly defeated by his lightning.
  • Erza blocked Laxus from leaving and insisted he obey the guild’s rules.
  • Laxus challenged Erza, who coated her sword in Armament Haki as they prepared to fight.
  • Wakaba and the guild members started betting on the match, with Macao betting one hundred thousand J on Erza.

Ch. 28Ul and Gray

Ywen crossed the snowy north of Ishgar while pursuing Deliora, and Makarov failed to catch up with him. Near Deliora’s reported location, Gray defied Ul and went after the demon alone, prompting Ul to rush after him as Ywen arrived nearby.

  • Cana used Card Magic to warn Laxus that taking an S-Class Mission would bring disaster, and he hurried out of the guild.
  • Ywen traveled northeast through the snow in pursuit of Deliora while Makarov followed but stopped to rest after falling behind.
  • After two weeks in the mountains, Ywen subdued a giant white bear and rode it toward Deliora’s lingering scent.
  • Gray told Ul he had learned Deliora’s whereabouts and wanted revenge, but Ul refused to let him go until he could defeat her.
  • Gray slipped away to confront Deliora, and Lyon informed Ul, who rushed off to catch him.
  • Ywen arrived near the town where Deliora was located.

Ch. 29Ul and Deliora

Lyon joined Ywen on the way to confront Deliora, while Gray and Ul faced the demon in the ruined town. After Ul’s attacks failed to hurt Deliora, she prepared to use Iced Shell, a spell that would cost her her magic power and physical body.

  • Lyon decided to go after Ul and Gray, but Ywen encountered him on the road and agreed to take him along on the giant bear.
  • Gray charged toward Deliora and attacked with Ice-Make Magic, but the demon shattered his Ice Lance and left him paralyzed with fear.
  • Ul shielded Gray from Deliora’s blow, then froze the demon briefly with her Ice-Make Magic before he broke free unharmed.
  • Ul realized she could only save Gray by using Iced Shell, and she began gathering magic power for the spell.

Ch. 30Devil-Slaying Attribute Extraction

Ywen attacked Deliora while Ul and Gray reunited with Lyon and his giant white beast. After extracting Deliora’s Devil Power, Ywen enchanted it into himself and then into his Weight-Weight Fruit, creating Demon Slayer Magic and breaking the fruit’s level cap.

  • Ywen blasted Deliora into the sky with a massive Gravity Wave, sending part of the street and the mountain peaks flying with it.
  • Lyon arrived with Big White, and Ul recognized her disciple while Gray discovered the beast meant him no harm.
  • Ywen trapped Deliora with Attach Magic and separated its Cursed Power before it could attack.
  • Ywen enchanted the Devil Power into himself, gaining a demonic appearance, then enchanted it into his Weight-Weight Fruit to avoid being assimilated.
  • Ywen’s system identified the fruit as Weight-Weight Fruit (Demon Slayer), and he realized its level cap had risen beyond 10.

Ch. 31Eliminating Deliora

Ywen trapped Deliora and destroyed it with a meteor summoned through his Gravity Fruit ability, though the impact flattened half the already-ruined town. After confirming the Ten-Year Mission was complete, Ywen saved the medal and descended as the townspeople surveyed the devastation.

  • Ywen realized Deliora had exhausted its strength and could no longer escape his Sky Cage.
  • Ywen used his Gravity Fruit ability to send a flaming meteor crashing into Deliora and the mountain, crushing the demon and unleashing a shockwave.
  • Ul shielded Gray and Lyon behind an ice wall while the blast flattened half the town and extinguished the fires.
  • Ywen received a Ten-Year Mission Medal for eliminating Deliora and decided to save it for a future level-nine ability.
  • As sunrise came, Ywen descended while Ul, Gray, Lyon, and the townspeople looked over the devastated town.

Ch. 32Heat Breath!

Ywen defeated Deliora, then transformed into a dragon to stop an avalanche with his Heat Breath, destroying more than a dozen mountains and much of the town. He used Gravity Waves to reshape the rubble into new mountains, leaving Gray and Lyon collapsed from shock.

  • After Ywen announced the mission was complete, a mountain collapsed and sent an enormous avalanche toward the town.
  • Ywen transformed into a dragon and unleashed Heat Breath, vaporizing the avalanche and burning through more than a dozen mountains.
  • Ywen returned to human form and mistakenly blamed Deliora for the town’s destruction before deciding to help rebuild.
  • Ywen used Gravity Waves to lift the town’s ruins and shattered mountains, then arranged the rubble into towering mountains around the town.
  • Gray and Lyon collapsed from fear and exhaustion as Ywen finished restoring the mountain landscape.

Ch. 33Makarov Arrives...

Ywen reunited Gray with Ul and Lyon after warning him about risking his family’s safety, then Makarov arrived and reprimanded Ywen for undertaking a Ten-Year Mission without telling the guild. Makarov learned that Ywen had fought Gildarts and destroyed a mountain, leaving him worried about the damage and the apology report he would have to write.

  • Ywen scolded Gray for going after Deliora alone, and Gray admitted he would stop causing his family worry.
  • Ywen turned Gray toward the injured Ul and Lyon, and Gray apologized before joining them in an embrace.
  • A towering mountain moved over the group and transformed into Makarov, who introduced himself as Fairy Tail’s Guild Master.
  • Makarov confronted Ywen for leaving on a Ten-Year Mission without notice, and Ywen mistakenly guessed he had come because of Gildarts.
  • Ywen told Makarov that he and Gildarts had fought, destroyed a mountain, and fallen asleep from exhaustion before Gildarts disappeared.
  • Makarov lamented the mountain’s destruction and the apology report he would have to write, while Gray and Lyon silently blamed Ywen for the strange mountains.

Ch. 34Invite Ul

Ul decided to keep fighting for Gray and Lyon and accepted Ywen’s invitation for all three of them to join Fairy Tail. Makarov welcomed the children, and Ul set out to rebuild her life alongside them.

  • Ul asked Makarov to take Gray and Lyon to Fairy Tail so they could grow stronger.
  • Gray protested leaving Ul, while Lyon fell silent as Ul explained that the town could not offer them a broader stage.
  • Ywen urged Ul to recognize that Gray and Lyon gave her a reason to keep fighting.
  • Ul embraced Gray, admitted she had found a reason to fight again, and decided that she, Gray, and Lyon would join Fairy Tail together.

Ch. 35Ur and Ultear

Ywen and Makarov fled the Magic Council soldiers while discussing Ywen’s plans and a job investigating child kidnappings. Ywen revealed that Ur’s daughter Ultear might still be alive, leaving Ur determined to find her.

  • Ywen used the Gravity Fruit to get everyone onto Big White, then enhanced the bear’s speed so they could escape the approaching Magic Council soldiers.
  • Makarov taught Ur, Gray, and the others Fairy Tail’s rule of running from the Magic Council and denying responsibility for their actions.
  • Makarov caught Ywen holding a job request to investigate the continent-wide child kidnappings and learned that Ywen had obtained it from a mage in another guild.
  • Ywen asked Ur about Brain, the director of the Magic Development Bureau, and learned that Ur had entrusted her child to him before being told the child had died.
  • Ywen told Ur that Ultear might still be alive, and Ur resolved to find her daughter and investigate Brain with Ywen.

Ch. 36Mage Guild Noisy Second Hand

Ywen, Makarov, and the others encountered the hostile mages of Noisy Second Hand, whose leader feared that the Magic Council had discovered their secret. Makarov confronted them and transformed into a towering, intimidating figure, demanding that they reveal what they were hiding.

  • Ywen dispelled the sound barrier around Big White, and the surrounding mages shouted that the group had entered Noisy Second Hand's territory.
  • Ywen, Makarov, and Ul admitted they had never heard of Noisy Second Hand, while Makarov welcomed Ul as a member of Fairy Tail.
  • The mages panicked when Makarov identified himself as one of the Ten Wizard Saints, and one of them hinted that the Magic Council might learn about their secret.
  • Makarov questioned the guild about what they were hiding from the Magic Council, but Jason insulted him and refused to answer.
  • Makarov transformed into a towering figure and threatened the mages until they told him what they knew.

Ch. 37Fairy Tail's Way of Doing Things

Makarov forced the Noisy Second Hand mages to reveal that their guild planned to hatch a Demon Egg, then led Fairy Tail to stop them. Ywen tore open the guild building and exposed the egg, a young girl named Nano, and the mage who had been urging her to hatch it.

  • Makarov defeated the Noisy Second Hand mages and made Jason confess that their guild planned to hatch and control a Demon Egg.
  • Makarov ordered the mages to lead him and the others to their guild so they could deal with the egg.
  • Inside the guild, Nano used her magic to accelerate the egg's growth while a daruma-like mage urged her to continue by promising she could reunite with her parents.
  • Nano resisted hatching the egg because she sensed it would endanger nearby towns, and a powerful crash shook the guild.
  • Ywen tore open the guild's ceiling, revealed Nano, the Demon Egg, and the daruma-like mage, and announced that they had found other targets.

Ch. 38Noisy Second Hand Annihilated!

Ywen and his companions destroyed Noisy Second Hand, rescued Nano, and sent her back to her family. They then boarded a westbound train, leaving Big White behind at the station.

  • Makarov, Ul, Ywen, Gray, and Lyon stormed Noisy Second Hand, and Ul froze Guild Master Nez Dums and defeated the guild’s mages.
  • Ywen destroyed the Demon Egg with Demon Slayer magic after a mage threatened them with the demon Deliora.
  • Gray and Lyon told the defeated mage that Ywen had already defeated Deliora, and Ywen urged the group to leave and report the criminals to the Magic Council.
  • Ywen and his companions returned Nano to her parents in a nearby town.
  • Ywen and the others chose to travel west by train, while Big White tearfully waved goodbye from the station.

Ch. 39Tocchi Anderba

Ywen, Makarov, Ul, Gray, and Lyon traveled west by train, where they met Magic Council councilor and BLACKVOX warden Tocchi Anderba. After he left their carriage, the train was attacked, and Ywen sensed Dark Guild members targeting Tocchi Anderba.

  • Gray and Lyon admired the snowy scenery as the group rode west, while Makarov welcomed their decision to join the journey.
  • Tocchi Anderba approached Makarov, praised Ywen's reputation, and asked the guild to exercise more restraint before leaving for another carriage.
  • Ywen explained that Tocchi Anderba was a Magic Council councilor and the warden of Magic Prison BLACKVOX, and Makarov said he belonged to the neutral faction.
  • The train shook violently, and Ul used Ice-Make Magic to secure their carriage.
  • Ywen sensed Dark Guild members attacking Tocchi Anderba and kidnapping him.

Ch. 40Magic Prison BLACKVOX

Ywen and Makarov pursued the Gojobashi Family after they kidnapped Warden Tocchi Anderba and forced their way into Magic Prison BLACKVOX. The family freed their father, Doramu, who revealed his plan to seize the prison, just as Makarov and the others arrived.

  • Ywen convinced Makarov that rescuing Tocchi Anderba could improve Fairy Tail's standing with the Magic Council, then launched the train car into the sky to pursue the kidnappers.
  • The Gojobashi Family threatened Tocchi Anderba and forced the guards to open Magic Prison BLACKVOX.
  • The Gojobashi Family's eldest son took Tocchi Anderba to the Central Prison Tower, where Gurogu Foto agreed to free Doramu in exchange for the warden's release.
  • Doramu emerged from his cell, reunited with his children, and announced that the Gojobashi Family would take over Magic Prison BLACKVOX.
  • Makarov and the others descended into the prison, and Doramu recognized the Fairy Tail emblem on Makarov's chest.
