Background

Lanta was born in an impoverished village. Her parents died while gathering medicinal herbs from dangerous cliffs in hopes of earning enough money to move away; she was left orphaned before the age of four. The villagers divided her parents' inheritance, leaving her dependent on occasional food donations to survive. 96

She was the only child in the village to awaken Soul Power. When villagers attempted to claim her as a relative after her awakening, Gu You and Su Yuntao intervened and offered her the choice of remaining or leaving for Nuoding City. Lanta chose to leave so she could see the wider world her parents had wanted her to experience. Ma Xiunuo subsequently took her in through Martial Soul Hall, with Si Si caring for her until she could attend the academy. 96

Lanta initially asked to become Gu You's sister. He declined, but accepted her as his disciple and promised to teach her everything he knew.
