Born into the Shihoin Clan, one of the Four Great Noble Clans, Yoruichi inherited exceptional wealth, authority, and the position of clan head. She later relinquished the headship to her younger brother, Yūshirō, while retaining immense influence over the clan and its Divine Artifacts. Even the Central 46 Chambers did not treat her seizure of Urahara Kisuke and other Soul Reapers as a crime, demonstrating the Shihoin Clan's standing 144 170.

Yoruichi served as Captain of the Second Division and Commander-in-Chief of the Onmitsukidō. Her Shunpo mastery earned her the title “Goddess of Flash,” while her command of the stealth corps made her a feared authority within Seireitei 74 78 693.

During the Hollowfication Incident, Yoruichi lost control and attacked fellow Soul Reapers.
