Dugu Yan is Dugu Bo’s cherished granddaughter. His protection gives her considerable standing at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, where she serves as vice-captain of the seeded team. Despite that privilege, she follows the academy’s leave procedures rather than relying on her grandfather to bypass them 20 21.

Like Dugu Bo, she suffers from a harmful condition caused by the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul. She recognizes that having a Titled Douluo grandfather does not guarantee she will reach his realm, making early treatment important to her future cultivation 22 24.

Meeting Li Yu and receiving treatment

Qian Renxue, disguised as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, summons Dugu Yan while trying to locate Li Yu at Dugu Bo’s secluded residence. Dugu Yan interprets the request as an attempt to secure her grandfather’s political support and refuses to make decisions on his behalf 20 21.
