Kansas Town.
A massive billboard stood before endless cornfields, bearing the words: "Welcome to the Global Creamed Corn Capital."
Pulling back, a helicopter flew crookedly over the cornfields, whipping up gusts that set the stalks swaying.
It was a small helicopter. Inside, a blond man sat reading a newspaper.
Perhaps the howling wind outside had stirred something in him. He lowered the paper and looked toward the seats behind him.
Two blond boys sat on either side of the cabin. The younger, adorable boy was lowering his head as he peeled an apple with a fruit knife, forming a sharp contrast with his brother beside him, whose eyes were tightly shut and expression tense.
Watching this, the man grew increasingly dissatisfied with his eldest son. Compared to his younger son, who had been brilliant beyond his years, mature, and steady since childhood, his eldest was like a real child—timid and cowardly.
The man pursed his thin lips and scolded, "Lex, open your eyes!"
"But Father, I'm scared!"
Young Lex Luthor bit his lip. Looking closely, one could see that the boy's lips had begun to tremble.
Negative Emotions from Lex Luthor +1, +1. Congratulations. You have obtained 10,000 Negative Emotion points from Lex Luthor and exchanged them for one use of the Replication Ability.
The voice rang out in the mind of the young child beside Lex. His name was Jino Luthor. He had originally been an unlucky unemployed college graduate from the twenty-first century, seemingly cursed by some fairy godmother.
He had choked to death while drinking cola, and his soul had crossed into the DC Universe, where he became the younger brother of Lex Luthor, the future bald and ruthless emperor.
Who was Lex Luthor?
One of the smartest humans in DC, a super-rich tycoon whose wealth could rival Bruce Wayne's, wealthy enough to rival a nation, a technology magnate—no matter what admirable quality a man could possess, it would not be an exaggeration to attribute it to the future Luthor.
As the younger brother of the future big shot Lex Luthor, Jino had been born with the buff of being a rich heir. He had practically been born at life's finish line.
And Jino was a practical person. He possessed neither genius-level intelligence nor exceptional fighting ability.
A slacker should have the self-awareness of a slacker!
So, Jino's original plan had been simple: eat, drink, and indulge himself for the rest of his life. In short, lie flat!
Unfortunately, on the second day after he learned to speak, a cheat called the "system" had appeared in his mind.
Simply put, Jino's system could collect Negative Emotions from superheroes and Supervillains in this universe to exchange for the ability to replicate talents. However, each person had a limit of ten thousand Negative Emotion points.
This gave Jino's life another possibility: replicate the abilities of this world's superheroes or Supervillains and continuously grow stronger!
"My cheap older brother really is a good guy."
Jino sighed emotionally. All ten thousand of his Negative Emotion points had been contributed by his older brother.
Fortunately, the two had grown up together, starting from the time Jino stole Luthor's milk.
After such glorious scenes as abandoning Lex to run away alone when chased by a dog, demonstrating truly "brotherly affection."
Jino had "scrimped and saved" until, at the age of five, he finally accumulated ten thousand points and gained one chance to replicate a talent.
Coming back to himself, Jino sighed and grabbed his brother's little arm. "All right, Lex, don't be afraid. I'm here."
That small gesture gave Lex some courage. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at Jino with a complicated expression.
Ever since childhood, Father had always compared him with his younger brother. Even trivial things, like his brother caring about their parents and bringing them breakfast, would be dragged out by their father as a weapon to attack Lex.
Although his grades were better than Jino's, he could not withstand the crushing difference in emotional intelligence. The only thing Lex could show off at home was that he was older than Jino.
"All right, stop arguing. Look at the town below. Isn't it beautiful?" Lionel was annoyed by their bickering.
Their father interrupted the dispute, while Lex grabbed Jino's little hand and fearfully looked out at the fields beyond the helicopter.
Seeing the town's chimneys, its beautiful asphalt roads, and the faintly visible tractors, sights that could not be seen in the city, Lex cheered excitedly. "It really is beautiful."
To be honest, sights like this were rare in Metropolis.
The roaring helicopter landed. Lex, who had been listless on the helicopter, immediately perked up. He jumped out first, raised his head proudly as if he had won a victory, and looked at Jino with a provocative gaze.
"See? I got off the helicopter before you!"
Children's urge to compete was always inexplicable.
Jino ignored Lex's provocation and followed their father out of the helicopter.
The moment they got off, several factory employees gathered around their father and asked him to deal with some documents.
"Business again. How boring." Lex pouted, then grabbed Jino, who was standing there in a daze, and pointed at the field in the distance. "Let's go over there and take a look. I think I saw a huge bird."
At the entrance to the field, a black-feathered bird stood on a wooden post, tilting its head as it studied the two of them.
Jino sighed.
"That's a crow, you stupid Lex."
"Stop talking. Follow your big brother."
Lex grabbed Jino's arm, and the two little boys followed the crow into the tall cornfield.
Breathing in the fragrance of the soil, Lex was fascinated by everything in the rural town.
"Wait, do you hear something?"
Jino tilted his head. The two had already ventured deep into the cornfield, where the tall stalks blocked their view. Combined with the dim surroundings, Lex could not help swallowing. "J-Jino, don't scare me!"
Jino sighed.
"Listen carefully, my stupid brother."
Lex stopped and listened.
"Save me!"
"Please, save me!"
A faint, whisper-like voice echoed around them, like some strange invisible ghost.
"W-What's happening?"
Lex tightened his grip on Jino's arm again and swallowed nervously.
"The voice seems to be coming from over there." Jino looked toward the right and walked in the direction of the sound.
"Wait! Don't run around! What if there really is a ghost?" Lex watched Jino leave. Worried about his little brother's safety, he gritted his teeth and chased after him.
The two crossed damp soil and pushed aside the corn stalks, finally finding the source of the voice.
"Is that a person?" Lex asked in surprise.
In the cornfield, a bare-chested young man was tied to a wooden cross with ropes. A huge red "S" had been painted across his chest, while his black hair was soaked with sweat and plastered messily to his cheeks.
The moment he saw them, the man's eyes lit up. "Please, save me!"
