"Why were you tied to a cross?"

"Let's get him down."

The two spoke almost at the same time.

Lex hurriedly grabbed Kilo. "Wait, Kilo. What if this guy is some kind of bad person who was tied to this cross?"

Kilo paused slightly, then stood before the man with Lex. He put away the small knife in his hand and stared at the young man. "Tell us, why were you tied up here?"

The man hung his head weakly, his voice feeble and low. "It was bullying. Bullying at the local high school's graduation Dance Party. They pick the person least popular at school to play the scarecrow."

"...For an entire day and night!"

By the final sentence, the man's tone had taken on a trace of gritted hatred.

"School bullying." Kilo sighed inwardly. The man before him was thin and looked scholarly, perfectly fitting the image of an American high school nerd who got bullied.

"Let's get him down."

Kilo was just about to cut the ropes when Lex shouted in panic, "Wait! Look at the sky!"

Kilo looked up and saw several blazing streaks of light cutting across the blue sky, trailing long tails as they flew toward the town.

One of them was rapidly closing in on the three of them!

The nerdy young man's expression changed drastically as the meteor suddenly slammed into a field not far from them.

Boom!

The meteor's impact with the ground sent dirt churning into the air, mixed with a terrifying shockwave that spread outward from the impact point!

Lex shoved Kilo to the ground first and covered him with his body. "Get down, Kilo!"

The next second, the shockwave and dirt crashed down onto Lex's back, burying the two beneath countless clumps of soil.

At the same time, countless meteors fell across the town. Some struck the streets, triggering explosions and screams, smashing cars and taking innocent lives. Others crashed into homes, killing entire families of three on the spot.

For the town, today was nothing short of a terrifying disaster!

At seven in the evening, the setting sun filtered through the glass and shone onto the pristine white hospital bed.

Kilo's eyes stirred. The air was thick with the pungent smell of disinfectant, enough to immediately tell anyone where they were.

He was in a hospital.

Kilo relaxed inwardly. Thankfully, he had been saved.

But then worry for Lex rose in his heart.

Although he always mocked Lex for being timid and childish, they had grown up together. Their brotherly bond was real.

Kilo struggled to lift his eyelids and looked around. He soon spotted the unconscious Lex in the bed beside him.

After glancing at his cheap older brother's heart monitor and confirming that he was alive, Kilo finally breathed a sigh of relief. As long as he was not dead, even if he became a vegetable, Kilo could still save his cheap older brother given enough time.

"But this feeling of having no power and being at the mercy of a natural disaster really sucks." Kilo slowly raised his head, staring somberly at the distant setting sun.

With a thought, a card that only he could see appeared in his hand.

Kilo had been familiar with DC superhero origin stories in his previous life, so he naturally knew where these falling meteors had come from.

Perhaps he could not be certain when he had first arrived in this town, but the savage meteor shower that had swept across the entire town confirmed it for Kilo. The future God of Man, Clark Kent, had finally arrived in this town.

"The arrival of the God of Man came with destruction. What an interesting irony."

Kilo got out of bed and, dressed in a hospital gown, walked over to his cheap older brother. Their savior was lying unconscious in the next bed over.

Kilo rubbed Lex's cheek, and the next second, his cheap older brother slowly woke up.

"Huff, huff... Where are we?" Lex opened his eyes. He was breathing rapidly and staring fearfully at his surroundings, clearly not yet over the shock of the meteor explosion.

Kilo helplessly gave Lex's cheek a light slap. "Wake up, Lex. We're in the hospital. We were saved."

Only after Kilo explained did Lex realize he was lying in a hospital bed.

"Damn it," Lex muttered, then swept his gaze across the ward. "Where's Dad?"

Kilo shrugged. "Off handling business, probably."

Their father, Lionel Luthor, was a shrewd businessman and a man wealthy enough to rival nations. One of America's most successful businessmen, he was treated with deference by everyone he met. He spent nearly all his time creating wealth, naturally neglecting his family.

"Heh, he's never satisfied with his wealth. He always wants more, like some greedy vampire!" Anger appeared on Lex's young face. His two sons were lying in the hospital, yet he was still thinking about business.

"Kilo, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Lex decided not to think about Lionel anymore and turned to ask Kilo.

Kilo waved a hand. "I'm fine."

"But that guy tied to the cross sure had bad luck." Kilo pointed at the unconscious young man in the neighboring bed. Even in a hospital gown, the red S-shaped paint on his chest was visible.

Lex sneered. "Heh. If it weren't for him, maybe the meteor wouldn't have affected us."

Just as Lex was about to continue, the door opened and Lionel walked into the ward.

When he saw Kilo and Lex awake, the man visibly relaxed. "Oh, thank God, you're all right."

"Yeah, Dad. Other than opening our eyes and finding that you weren't by our side, we're very happy." Lex delivered his remark with a cold sneer. He had little affection for his cheap father, who loved money more than his sons.

Hearing Lex's sarcastic tone, Lionel frowned and scolded him. "Hey, don't blame me! I plan to build a Fertilizer Processing Plant here. It will bring the Luthor Family a sizable profit!"

"How are things going, Father?"

Kilo quickly cut in. If Lex said a few more words, his cheap father would get angry out of embarrassment and beat up his cheap older brother.

At Kilo's question, the man rubbed his forehead in irritation and complained, "Hmph. The negotiations went smoothly, except for a farm owner outside town who absolutely refuses to sell their land."

"That's why I came here. I'll offer them a price they can't refuse and make them accept it!"

Kilo became interested and asked curiously, "What couple is stubborn enough to refuse?"

It couldn't be the Kent family, could it?

His cheap father thought for a moment before saying with a frown, "I think they're called... Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent?"

Hearing those names, Kilo was not surprised. Only Jonathan and Martha Kent would refuse a massive buyout offer.
