Background / History

Old Mo and Bai Yu rely on one another for survival after Bai Yu is left homeless in Peach Blossom Village. Old Mo catches fish, helps plant a plum pit, and shares Bai Yu's scarce food, including an unripe plum that it immediately finds unbearably bitter. Bai Yu renamed the dog from “Little Blackie” to Old Mo after transmigrating. 1 2

Over the following twenty years, Old Mo grows from a half-grown puppy into a large black dog. It accompanies Bai Yu during his long-planned revenge on the Chen Family, treating Bai Yu's enemies as its own. 6

Old Mo travels with Bai Yu to Jiang City, where the pair seek work and settle at the Hundred Virtues Mortuary. It remains present through Bai Yu's work, cultivation, black-market dealings, and increasingly dangerous involvement with Yin-Yang arts. 7 8 16
