The luxury car pulled in and drove straight to the Seaside Villa.
Lu Chengwen entered the house, tossed his coat to Jiang Shihan, and rushed inside, sweeping Leng Qingqiu into his arms.
Leng Qingqiu screamed in fright. When she saw it was Lu Chengwen, she laughed and pounded his chest.
Then her eyes reddened in an instant. She stroked his hair. "Why do you have gray hairs?"
Lu Chengwen froze. "I don't."
"Have you been working too hard?" Leng Qingqiu asked.
A wave of sadness suddenly welled up inside Lu Chengwen.
He was fighting the whole world, fighting until everything turned dark, until he was utterly exhausted, until sometimes even his mind felt like a muddled mess.
One unexpected word of concern from someone who understood him shattered his defenses.
Lu Chengwen smiled. "I'm fine. I'm really not tired. Don't you know how capable I am?"
Tears fell from Leng Qingqiu's eyes at the pain she felt for him, and her voice choked up. "If it's too much, let's go back. We can run a little business worth a few hundred million in the Northern Kingdom and live a good life."
Tears glimmered in Lu Chengwen's eyes too. "Qingqiu, I love you."
Leng Qingqiu hugged him and buried her face in his chest. "You used to pester me all the time. I really wish we could go back to those days. Now you're so busy you don't have any time to pester me anymore. I miss you so much."
Lu Chengwen held her close. "It'll all end. There'll be a resolution. Trust me."
"I trust you."
Huo Wenting had been watching coldly from the side for quite some time. The longer she watched, the more upset and irritated she became.
But she found it strange.
