Background / History
Lu Chengwen was originally a food-delivery worker from the real world. After a traffic accident, he was drawn into a system and repeatedly transmigrated into webnovel worlds as a villain. His seventh attempt places him in God of War Roaming the Capital: A Compendium of Beauties, where he inhabits the body of Long Aotian’s designated antagonist. He accepts the system’s survival challenge because its rewards could pay for his mother’s surgery in the real world. 1
Before this iteration, he had died to six protagonists: Xiao Yan, Ye Feng, Chu Feng, Ye Chen, Long Aotian, and Zhao Ritian. Having learned from those deaths, he establishes three survival rules: never provoke the protagonist, never involve himself with the protagonist’s women, and never commit obvious villainy. 1 3
The original plot expects Lu Chengwen to pursue his fiancée, Leng Qingqiu, antagonize Long Aotian, and eventually die. Instead, he attempts to cancel the engagement and avoid the protagonist entirely. His efforts repeatedly derail the script, especially after Leng Qingqiu and other women begin hearing his inner thoughts and refuse to follow their expected roles. 1 3 13
His initial strategy of lying low gradually changes into active resistance. By Chapter 61, he has directly repelled Long Aotian once and accepts that their conflict has become an open war. 61
Appearance
Lu Chengwen’s original body is over 1.8 meters tall, broad-shouldered rather than heavily muscular, and suited to formal businesswear. His face is described as steady and masculine, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and sharp features. 598
- Usually wears tailored suits, sunglasses, and luxury accessories when acting as a corporate leader. 136 175
- Can appear intimidating when he deliberately adopts his “CEO Lu” persona. 176
- Has temporarily taken on Long Aotian’s face through the Body Shifting Face Changing Technique. 49 51
- Has also used Disguise Pills that alter him into an appearance he considers overly delicate and effeminate. 598 843
- His eyes may glow silver, green, red, or black when his Archaic Ape God-related powers activate. 646 1056 1522
Personality
Lu Chengwen is deeply contradictory. He presents himself as a shameless, lustful, cowardly rich heir, yet this persona often functions as camouflage: he flatters stronger opponents, avoids unwinnable fights, and makes himself appear less threatening than he is. 214 309 312
His core motivation is survival. He knows he is not the novel’s intended protagonist and initially believes that confronting fate directly is suicidal. This makes him pragmatic, suspicious, and willing to retreat, deceive, or let others underestimate him. 3 221 2391
At critical moments, however, Lu Chengwen repeatedly accepts responsibility for people under his protection. He funds public projects, protects subordinates rather than abandoning them, and is willing to risk himself when others cannot escape. Xia Ying’s assessment identifies these actions as evidence of a “heroic” personality hidden beneath insecurity, greed, and self-preservation. 58 177 312
He is also highly adaptive in conversation. He can switch between groveling, intimidation, flattery, sincere concern, and absurd humor depending on what the situation requires. This makes allies feel valued and enemies unsure whether he is bluffing. 1099 1457 1657
Abilities & Skills
Business Strategy & Leadership
Lu Chengwen is a highly capable corporate strategist who turns financial crises and political pressure into opportunities.
- Commits Great Sage Group to fully funding Xue City’s Shantytown Renovation Project, including affordable medicine, education, and support for low-income residents. 58
- Reverses Great Sage Group from near-collapse into an enterprise earning hundreds of millions in monthly profit. 309
- Uses public opinion, contracts, investments, and rival factions against one another rather than relying solely on force. 697 1164
- Understands how to approach people whose values cannot be bought, as shown when he earns Chen Wenzhong’s trust by participating in village life rather than offering money. 566 567
- Delegates major corporate and development responsibilities to Leng Qingqiu, Chen Mengyun, Xu Xuejiao, and his senior staff. 423 663 846
Great Sage Subduing Tiger Fist
A system-granted martial-art set that serves as Lu Chengwen’s foundational offensive technique.
- Receives Level 1 of the technique after successfully repelling Long Aotian. 61
- Can temporarily use advanced experience cards to elevate its combat effectiveness. 155 160
- Uses its second level against the Branch Master despite lacking the necessary stable foundation to sustain it comfortably. 179
- Its high-level use heavily exhausts him when his realm is insufficient. 179
Great Sage Subduing Dragon Fist and Divine Ape Dragon Subduing Fist
Lu Chengwen develops and reveals additional fist styles as his combat instincts improve.
- Uses Great Sage Subduing Dragon Fist to overwhelm Zhu Tuozi through abrupt, relentless offense. 943
- Reveals Divine Ape Dragon Subduing Fist against Bai Mengyi, surprising opponents who believed they had already understood his style. 645
- Changes techniques mid-battle, altering his True Qi characteristics and forcing opponents to reassess him. 645
- Learns through combat, experimenting with untested movements and tactical traps while under pressure. 647
Archaic Ape God True Qi
Lu Chengwen possesses an unstable inherited power connected to the Archaic Ape God, Lu Chengfeng.
- Greatly enhances his speed, strength, perception, and resilience during extreme danger. 573 646
- Can trigger berserk states in which his aggression and destructive capability rise sharply. 1521 1892
- Is difficult for Lu Chengwen to control and has required intervention from stronger figures such as Li Dabai. 1521 1555
- Enables flame manifestations, Battle Cloud power, and increasingly abnormal combat output. 1708 2062 2063
Black Death God Art
A hidden emergency power awakened after Lu Chengwen is overwhelmed by Ox Head.
- Activated by stabbing himself with the Kirin Dagger while cornered. 2062
- Produces multiple flames, each associated with a different source of power. 2062
- Lets him contend with Ox Head after he had previously been defeated with ease. 2063
- Its relationship to the Golden Body and his other inherited powers remains unclear. 2033 2063
Deception, Impersonation & Psychological Warfare
Lu Chengwen’s most consistent advantage is his ability to destabilize stronger opponents through planning and performance.
- Impersonates Long Aotian alongside Xu Xuejiao to mislead Bronze Tuo Wang and other enemies. 84 87
- Exploits the Body Shifting Face Changing Technique to survive while wearing Long Aotian’s face. 49 51
- Uses lifelike decoys, ambushes, and Hua Xuening’s support to outmaneuver Zhuge Xiaohua. 194
- Manipulates opponents by appealing to pride, greed, filial loyalty, fear, or vanity. 1457 2083 2115
- Regularly pretends weakness or ignorance to encourage opponents to underestimate him. 615 2413
System Interface
The system supplies Lu Chengwen with rewards, missions, pills, experience cards, and upgrades.
- Its original objective is for him to survive the novel’s ending and return to the real world with rewards. 1
- Rewards have ranged from useful martial resources to deliberately absurd items, such as a sports car described as having “four wheels.” 3
- Provides Upgrade Cards, Flash Cards, martial-arts experience cards, pills, and other special items. 155 160 1973
- Lu Chengwen distrusts the system because it gives incomplete information and appears to manipulate circumstances for entertainment. 61 583
