Background / History

Shirou is an orphan who meets Fu Yuan on a hospital rooftop. Believing Fu Yuan may be suicidal, he repeatedly visits him and resolves to watch over him. Despite not knowing what his future holds, he wants to study, become capable, and make others happy. Fu Yuan offers to live with him, and Shirou eagerly agrees. 47

After leaving the hospital, Shirou and Fu Yuan are given lodging and living expenses by Tokiomi Tohsaka. Shirou adapts quickly to the Tohsaka residence, viewing it as a new home despite finding the circumstances and its occupants strange. 48
