"I'm already looking forward to the journey ahead!"
"What's this song called, please!"
"It's so beautiful, so full of story!"
"Where's the full version, why is it just this part!"
"Damn, my blood's boiling, I want to board the Star Rail Express and become a Nameless too!"
"Wake up, you don't have a Stellaron inside you."
And the people on the train were equally captivated by such a perfect scene.
"Is that you in the scene?"
"Should be... yeah, it's just that we didn't have BGM back then."
"Wow, Himeko, Himeko, does our train's phonograph have this track? It's so good!"
Himeko smiled lightly.
"Of course. This song is called Embark on the Journey, and it was already added to our phonograph. It really fits the story well."
As Star boarded the train, a voice suddenly came from below.
[Hey, I'm talking to you, hey!]
The tiny conductor Pam was looking up at this newly boarded passenger.
[You look a bit clueless. That's right, I'm talking to you.]
"Ah, it's Conductor Pam!"
Pam, hearing March 7th's voice, was about to look up, but March 7th scooped him up with one arm. She really was quite strong!
"Look, look, Conductor, you're in this too!"
"I see it, I see it, Pam! Passenger, put me down!"
In the scene, Pam was explaining some simple matters to Star. Perhaps trying to maintain his conductor's authority in front of a new passenger, Pam looked adorably fierce.
"You look really cool when you're serious, Conductor!"
Star teased the lifted Pam, making his face flush slightly. He just let out a light hum and said nothing.
Lao Mu, controlling the protagonist, looked around the train environment a bit, then returned to Pam's side to talk.
[Back already? I was just being polite, Pam... Something on your mind?]
Several options appeared in the dialogue.
[How do I get to March 7th's room?]
[Dan Heng's room...]
[Speaking of which... is that a phonograph?]
Lao Mu broke into a meaningful grin.
"Oh wow, just got on the train and I don't even know which room I'm staying in. Looking at these options, they're not gonna put me in the same room as March 7th, are they? That'd be so awkward!"
This sparked a wave of comments.
"Holy crap, that good? Sharing a room with March 7th?"
"I smell the fragrance of lilies!"
"Let me clarify, I'm not into guys, I just want to see where Dan Heng's room is!"
"Thanks for the plane from the guy still in denial!"
"Fencing master!"
Chapter 20: To the Dim Star
After boarding the train, Lao Mu, along with his curious audience, looked around here and there.
After all, this was the Star Rail Express. For ordinary people stuck on a fixed planet, they might never in their lives see this magical train that could traverse the void and sail through the universe!
But when he reached the door of March 7th's room on the train, Lao Mu began to hesitate.
Given the current state of the game, many places were basically identical to reality. Would March 7th's room in front of him be the same as the real one?
Though he'd joked about sharing a room, now that he was actually standing before the door, Lao Mu felt it might not be right to barge into a girl's room like this.
What if he saw something... uh... inconvenient to look at? Would it affect Miss March 7th's reputation?
Logically, it shouldn't, since the Star Rail Express seemed to have been processed by the game, and its internal space was clearly larger than what was shown.
But March 7th on the train gasped at this scene.
"What's wrong?"
"Is there something in your room that's not fit to show? Should I contact this streamer now?"
Dan Heng and Star both looked at March 7th, but her next words left them speechless.
"I never make my bed in the morning. If they go in now, it'll be a mess! Oh no, oh no, this beautiful girl's image is about to be ruined!"
Once inside the room, Lao Mu breathed a sigh of relief—thankfully, nothing strange appeared; in fact, it was quite tidy.
Aside from the usual furniture like a desk, chairs, and bed, the walls were plastered with photos, making it clear that March 7th really enjoyed taking pictures.
After casually wandering around the train for a bit, Pam's voice came over the intercom.
[(Testing—testing—) Attention, all passengers. Attention, all passengers. The train is about to initiate a jump. Please gather in the jump hall immediately.]
"Looks like we're finally heading to the next map!"
Though he wanted to keep going with the main story, Lao Mu glanced at the time—he'd already been streaming for nearly four system hours, and it was almost 2 AM.
He'd originally planned to end the stream here and grind all day tomorrow, but looking at the viewer count, it had surged to around 10 million!
Before, his peak after a full day was only two to three million, but now in just four system hours he'd hit 10 million—it made Lao Mu reluctant to sign off!
After some deliberation, Lao Mu decided to do one more side quest.
So he opened the in-game message interface; during the main story, NPCs had been sending him texts, which were probably side quests.
Scanning the message list, Lao Mu settled on one from a space station researcher named Rocky.
His personal signature was cringingly sentimental: "Leslie, the light of my life."
But the message he'd sent was confusing.
Rocky: [Lily, are you okay? Why aren't you replying to me?]
Seeing Lao Mu start a side quest, the chat began buzzing.
"Is this a side quest? Why aren't you streaming the main story?"
"Earlier guy, Lao Mu's about to log off. He's just doing a side quest."
"What's the point of a side quest? I just want to explore!"
"Don't be so sure—lots of games have more interesting side quests!"
"But judging by this message, he sent it to the wrong person, right?"
"Whoa, the tone sounds familiar—reminds me of a friend of mine. Is he a simp too?"
"Earlier guy, 'a friend'—sure, making it up!"
"Shove the mic in his mouth and make him tell his story loud!"
Lao Mu watched the chat while progressing the quest. After replying, the other person seemed to realize they'd messaged the wrong person and sent another.
Rocky: [Sorry—but whoever you are, if you see Lily, tell her Rocky is waiting for her.]
Star: [So who's Lily?]
No reply came. Exiting the message screen, a blue quest marker appeared, guiding him to find the researcher named Rocky in the space station.
Rocky: [Witty? No, better to be heartfelt. Elegant? Hmm, slang shouldn't be in a poem. Should I use 'or' here? Tch, gives me a headache...]
He seemed a bit scatterbrained. After talking, Rocky mentioned he was writing a poem—a love poem for a girl named Leslie.
But no matter how many drafts he sent, Leslie never replied.
Just as he was about to ask who Leslie was, the old man Bernard spoke up first.
Bernard: [Hah, that Leslie? She's a star researcher, the only visiting scholar from this Amber Era to the Abundance Star Domain. Would she have time for you?]
Rocky: [Of course she has time for me! Since Leslie left, we've been in touch through the Galactic Wave Repeater. Even across tens of thousands of light-years, she wouldn't ignore me. If she didn't reply on time, it must be a special circumstance this time!]
Seeing this, the chat exploded.
"No way, does this guy actually have a shot with Leslie?"
"Bro, she was just being polite. You think that means she likes you?"
"Come back to the goblin cave with me!"
"Overconfident guy, what a creep!"
Rocky: [I, I wrote her a confession letter. Not like usual—this time I didn't just tell her about the types of rocks and mud in geology...]
"Damn, you talk to a girl about rocks and mud? You're a genius!"
"I underestimated his confidence—he straight-up wrote a confession!"
"If this works out, I'll drop 10 packs of 6480 in this game right now, as a witness to true love!"
"Bro, you need a boyfriend? Or a girlfriend, I'm flexible!"
In the story, Rocky seemed genuinely troubled, not understanding why Leslie stopped talking to him after his confession.
Later in the conversation, Rocky brought up the keyword "Stellar Quake."
Rocky: [You don't get it—her reply was so cheerful, even the repeater's signal felt happy!]
Rocky: [In short, there was no sign she'd reject me. So if I don't hear from her by the agreed time... it must be the Galactic Wave Repeater acting up!]
Watching Rocky confidently list all the details of their daily interactions, the chat began to waver.
"Wait, seeing this, how does it feel like they actually get along?"
"Yeah, she even talked about rocks with him. Could this be true love?"
"Details don't lie—I think these two have a real shot!"
"Oh no, how did bro's nose turn red!"
"The clown was me all along!"
Chapter 21: It's Stable! Everything's Stable!
Seeing that the situation was about to take a turn, Lao Mu began following the plot to help Rocky check what was wrong with the relay.
But the old man Bernard kept obstructing, saying he was wasting his time on nonsense, yet in the end, he couldn't outlast Rocky.
Rocky: "If I successfully repair our communications, I'll definitely repay you—sooner or later, I'll ask you to be my best man!"
"Damn, you little rascal! Fine, fine, fine! I'll be waiting!"
The barrage comments were also fired up by Rocky's words.
"Alright! This marriage, I approve!"
"Bearing the name of pure love, you absolutely cannot lose!"
"Even though it feels unreliable, he's asking me to be a best man!"
"Brat, if I find out you're up to something later, I'll take a galactic flight to the Herta Space Station and come after you for real!"
The dialogue scene ended for now, and Lao Mu noticed a retrievable item appear on the table beside him. Clicking it, three unsent love poems appeared before his eyes.
[Herta Love Poem Part 1]
[Lily, my Lily.]
[How did I come to love you?]
[Your white hem,]
