"Looks like we're the ones being ambushed."
"Too bad they're the ones surrounded."
The screen shattered again as Kafka and Silver Wolf joined the fight. After a few exchanges, Kafka's energy was nearly full—she'd be able to unleash her Ultimate soon.
"Ultimate's coming."
The moment the energy bar maxed out, Lao Mu slammed the button!
A delicate splash art instantly appeared at the center of the screen. Ultimate: Tremolo at the End of Tragedy!
"All beautiful moments must come to an end."
Chapter 5: My Birth
As the Ultimate was triggered, the splash art flashed, and Kafka's stance shifted.
There she was on screen, dual pistols in hand, standing poised as she faced the enemies ahead.
Then, targeting an enemy, Kafka launched her attack!
"Time to say goodbye..."
The twin guns spun as she fired, her body whipping around. Then she paused, and with a soft "bang," the entire arena erupted!
"Ahhh, her voice is so gentle!"
"Ye Liangchen, stop hiding! I know you're watching!"
"Wuwu, she's so beautiful, I almost shouted 'master' on the spot!"
"This ult—they even made a full animation for it! Too strong!"
"Living is all for Kafka!"
And it wasn't over yet. Silver Wolf's Ultimate had also recharged from taking hits, and Lao Mu didn't hesitate to press it.
"The combat experience needs an optimization!"
Ultimate: Account Suspended!
Another splash art of Silver Wolf flashed across the screen. She stood there coolly, one hand outstretched, ready to manipulate code and strike the enemy.
"At this speed? Too slow!"
Silver Wolf rapidly tapped the virtual keys that appeared, like playing a rhythm game, slamming the final score into the target!
"Wolf Cub! Mama loves you!"
"? No male mamas!"
"What's wrong with male mamas? I want male mamas, I want male mamas!"
The two character demos finished, and the audience was still losing their minds over the characters. But Lao Mu sensed something different in that fight.
The characters in this game clearly had different attributes, and the enemies had various weaknesses.
Only by attacking the corresponding weakness with the matching attribute could you reduce the enemy's toughness bar.
And in that last fight, Lao Mu noticed that Silver Wolf's skill could actually apply different attribute weaknesses to enemies!
A must-have! This was definitely a must-have character card in this game!
The kind you pull and automatically win.
Thinking ahead, if a way to obtain Silver Wolf came out later, he had to get her.
"Not a single person here. The evacuation was quite thorough. Was it Herta's direct order?"
In the story, Kafka led Silver Wolf into the Main Control Room.
"Checking the access logs, that woman hasn't logged in here for over half a year. The evacuation was directed by the Acting Station Master—someone named Asta."
Arlan, looking at the researcher's phone as Silver Wolf spoke Asta's name, began to believe the researcher's claim that this was a game based on reality.
But why were they so familiar with the Space Station's invasion? As the head of the Defense Department, Arlan decided to check out the next game first.
It definitely wasn't because the game had the young lady's name!
In the game, Kafka and Silver Wolf started searching the Surveillance Room for information on the Stellar Core, but after a long while, they found nothing.
Finally, Silver Wolf decided to hack the entire Surveillance Room. Any place that didn't show a problem was the biggest problem!
All the screens turned into Silver Wolf's personal logo, and sure enough, one room remained unaffected.
"Simple and crude, but effective. See? Found it."
The two arrived at the room restraining the Stellar Core and finally saw the goal of their trip.
"The Stellar Core is right before our eyes. Let's hurry."
Kafka nodded and activated the Stellar Core Restrictor through the console beside her, but there seemed to be an extra layer of protection.
"An independent Protection System... Looks like the Stellar Core isn't an ordinary collection for Herta."
"Can you get it out?"
"Of course. In the field of hacking, even the genius Herta is no match for me."
"Great, then I'll leave the preparation of the carrier to you too~"
After the protection was lifted, Kafka slowly walked toward the Stellaron and grasped it in her hand.
"The carrier is ready. You decide."
Silver Wolf waved casually, and Kafka received the virtual screen she presented.
The audience only saw a man and a woman appear before them, floating in the screen, with options beside them to choose a carrier.
"What's this? Finally my turn to appear?"
"The birth of the MC!"
"Pick the female lead, her model looks pretty good!"
"Male lead, what about dates later?"
"I smell the fragrance of lilies!"
Out of personal preference, Lao Mu chose the female lead, Stelle, as the protagonist, followed by the carrier code name, which is the personal nickname.
"Night Raid on Widow Village!"
"Miracle Walker!"
"Doesn't this have to be Invincible T-Rex Warrior!"
"What is this, too childish!"
"Gotta consider immersion in the story, how about 'The Beast That Got Me Pregnant'!"
"Medicine Master's Legacy, anyone?"
"Abundance abomination, huh? Then I'll pick 'Lan Riding Wheelchair Chasing Yaoshi'!"
"Your name's pretty good, drop your star system coordinates, the Xianzhou has a big prize for you!"
"Damn, doxxing!"
"Not as good as 'Aha Was Killed by Me'!"
"With that name, you're making the Aeon of Elation lose face. How about 'Aha Is Under My Protection'!"
A mess of names swiped across the barrage, and seeing Lao Mu's mouth curl up nonstop, he was about to turn into the Dragon King with a crooked grin.
But as a streamer, he definitely couldn't pick a weird name, so he used the same as the protagonist's info, Stelle, as the nickname. After confirming, the scene shifted, and Stelle's body was slowly printed out.
"Wow, so amazing, this is the first time I've seen a protagonist created like this."
Lao Mu exclaimed, then saw Kafka walking slowly toward him with the Stellaron in hand.
"How much does she remember?"
"At least she'll remember you."
Holding Stelle's back with one hand, Kafka pushed the Stellaron in her hand into Stelle's body.
"Time to wake up."
"Damn, so this is the physical way they put the Stellaron inside us?"
The screen went black, then shifted to a perspective like opening eyes.
Kafka's worried gaze and the smile upon seeing Stelle awake once again firmly gripped the audience's hearts.
"Kafka is a woman who could become my mother!"
"Pulling on release! Even if she heals enemies, I'm in!"
"Mommy is so gentle!"
Back in the game, after waking up as the protagonist Stelle, three options appeared.
[Where... is... this?]
[Kaf... ka?]
[...Who... are you?]
Lao Mu originally wanted to pick the third to see Kafka's reaction, but looking at the earlier story, if he forgot everything, Kafka would be sad, right?
In the end, he couldn't bear it and chose the second option.
Upon hearing Stelle's words, Kafka's expression looked very relieved.
"Great, you still remember me!"
After exchanging a glance with Silver Wolf, Kafka looked back at Stelle.
"Listen to me: Your mind is a blank slate right now. You don't know who you are, why you're here, or what to do next; I feel familiar to you, but you're not sure if you can trust me—"
"—But none of that matters. What matters is that I'm leaving, and I'm going to leave you alone in this Space Station. So from now on, you don't need to dwell on the past or doubt yourself anymore."
"Listen to me: You'll face many dangers ahead, trapped in terrible situations; but you'll also encounter many wonderful things. You'll find companions like family and embark on adventures you never even dreamed of..."
"And at the end of the journey, all the puzzles troubling you will be solved."
"This is the future Elio has foreseen and the one you will reach... Do you like it?"
# Chapter 6: A Professional Streamer Dares to Make Judgments
"This is... the scene of my birth?"
Inside the Star Rail Express.
Star stared at the images on her phone—no wonder she always felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to Kafka.
Beside her, March 7th and Dan Heng were also stunned. So before they had found Star, something like this had happened.
"What are you all huddled together looking at? I was wondering where everyone had gone—you're all here."
Just then, Himeko's voice came from nearby, and with her came Welt.
"Ah, Himeko, Uncle Yang, let me tell you—this game is incredible!"
Seeing the two of them, March 7th excitedly recounted the game's wonders.
Himeko: "You're saying this game records what happened to you all back at the Herta Space Station?"
March 7th: "And more! I think if the game's story keeps going like this, maybe even Himeko and Uncle Yang will show up in it!"
After hearing March 7th's introduction, Himeko grew interested in the game's developer, wondering what kind of methods could so clearly record all of this and turn it into a game.
Welt, however, stared at the word "Honkai" in the game's title, lost in thought.
"Rather than guessing their intentions, why not just download the game and experience it yourself? What do you think?"
Himeko looked at Welt as she spoke. She didn't usually play mobile games much—at most, Little March would drag her into one—but this game was truly different.
In the past, some mobile games had used the Star Rail Express's name for development, trying to cash in on the Express's fame across the universe, but they were invariably low-quality products.
Now, having a game that properly presented Nameless wasn't such a bad thing.
Welt agreed with Himeko. Rather than overthinking, it was better to just download the game and see how things played out.
