Background / History
Tang Hao initially watched Tang San from the shadows after his departure from Holy Soul Village. He intervened when Zhao Wuji fought Tang San and later confirmed that he had secretly protected his son throughout his time at Shrek Academy. 48 195
He first confronted Du Cheng in the Back Mountain Forest, identifying himself as the Clear Sky Douluo and Tang San's father. Tang Hao demanded that Du Cheng lose to Tang San and surrender the girls around him; when Du Cheng refused, Tang Hao attempted to cripple him with the Clear Sky Hammer. A hidden Limit Douluo intervened and neutralized the attack. 23 24
After appearing openly before Tang San in the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang Hao revealed his status as a Titled Douluo. He encouraged Tang San to attach rings to his second martial soul despite the potential cost to his future, arguing that an “invincible heart” was more important than preserving potential. 195 196
Tang Hao identified Xiao Wu as a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast and devised a plan to expose her during the Elite Soul Master Competition. He intended to use the resulting conflict between Du Cheng and Spirit Hall to seize Xiao Wu's soul ring and soul bone for Tang San. 196 260
He aided Tang San's rapid growth by providing precious ores, Immortal Herbs, soul bones, and protection while hunting soul beasts. Tang Hao personally incapacitated the Ten Thousand-Year Earth Cave Demon Spider that Tang San later absorbed. 198 200 294
Following Tang San's injuries in the Promotion Tournament, Tang Hao went to Plant Academy to demand vengeance. He threatened Yue Cheng, the Thorn Soul Master, and eventually the entire academy, but Du Cheng, Qing Yi, and Qing Xuan intervened. Outmatched, Tang Hao was forced to apologize and leave behind a soul bone. 251 252 253
At Spirit City, Tang Hao attempted to seize Xiao Wu and three soul bones after Spirit Hall withdrew its claim. When intercepted, he attacked Spirit City with the Clear Sky Hammer, using Ring Burst to overwhelm Bibi Dong, Qing Yu, and the other defenders long enough to escape with Tang San. 292 293
The escape left Tang Hao crippled: his nine soul rings were destroyed, his Soul Power was exhausted, and his body was severely damaged. Despite this, he continued directing Tang San's training, emphasizing life-and-death combat and killing intent. 294 295
Tang Hao later reunited with Tang Yuehua and returned to the Clear Sky Sect with Tang San and Tang Chen. His relationships with both Blue Silver and Tang Yuehua became strained as his attempts to claim the Blue Silver Emperor Position and Moonlight Pavilion were rejected. 334 335 341 342 344
To compensate Tang San for destroying a spirit bone, Tang Hao severed his own right arm and left leg, giving Tang San the two attached soul bones. 351 352
Appearance
Tang Hao is a rough-looking man who strongly resembles Tang San. He is typically depicted in worn clothing, with unkempt hair and a neglected appearance. 23 195 251 292
- Wears a coarse cloth gown during his first meeting with Du Cheng. 23
- Has messy hair that hangs around his shoulders. 23
- Resembles Tang San by roughly seventy to eighty percent. 23 251
- Later appears in a tattered robe with bronze skin and hair compared to a bird's nest. 292
- Lost his right arm and left leg when he surrendered their soul bones to Tang San. 351
Personality
Tang Hao believes strength grants the right to dictate terms. He openly tells weaker opponents that they must accept humiliation because Douluo Continent respects the strong, and he is willing to use his Titled Douluo status against students, Soul Elders, and an academy. 23 251 252 253
He is intensely protective of Tang San, but that protection is bound to his own ambitions. Tang Hao regards Tang San's Twin Martial Souls and talent as the means to overthrow Spirit Hall and avenge himself, repeatedly pushing his son toward greater strength regardless of the risks. 195 196 235 295
Tang Hao is also calculating when confronting stronger forces. He avoided directly confronting Du Cheng after recognizing the threat posed by Du Cheng's Titled Douluo-level attendants, and he chose to withdraw from Moonlight Pavilion rather than risk conflict with Du Cheng and Spirit Hall. 195 200 342
