• At the Great Dou Shi stage, Dou Qi is held within a Dou Crystal; Ling’s returned energy can nourish both the crystal and the cultivator’s body 32.
• A Dou Zong breakthrough expands Xiao Ming’s meridians more than tenfold and forms a reinforcing Dou Qi crystal layer over his meridians and bones 214.
• Severe meridian damage can prevent Dou Qi circulation and cripple a cultivator 73.

Attributes

Dou Qi may possess elemental attributes. Xiao Ming’s attribute is Fire, though he initially lacks the Wood Attribute needed for alchemy 6.

• Ling’s Devouring allows Xiao Ming to gain additional elemental applications from Heaven and Earth Spiritual Objects, including Ice and Lightning attributes 166.
• Xiao Ming continues to regard Fire as his main attribute, treating Lightning Dou Skills as supplementary rather than central to his combat style 324.

Combat Applications

Externalization

At the Da Dou Shi level, Dou Qi can be projected outside the body; opponents recognize Xiao Ming’s external sword light as proof of this realm 25.

• Dou Qi can form full-body armor, though sufficiently powerful attacks may pierce it outright 17 49.
• It can be shaped into weapons, palms, seals, pythons, and other constructs through Dou Skills 25 291.
• High-level techniques can consume extraordinary amounts of Dou Qi. The Great Heaven Creation Palm drains Xiao Ming’s reserves far faster than the Five Rounds of Fire Departure Method, even when the latter is empowered by Heavenly Flames 399.

Movement

Dou Qi activates Flying Dou Techniques such as Xiao Ming’s Flying Cloud Wings, but maintaining the wings requires substantial energy 78.

• At the Dou Zong realm, Xiao Ming can walk through the void without relying on Dou Qi wings 214.
• His lightning-infused wings later raise his speed to nearly that of a Dou Zong while using the Heavenly Flame Three Mysterious Changes 179.

Refinement and Recovery

Tempering

The Fallen Heart Flame can temper Dou Qi by burning away a significant portion of its volume while making the remainder denser and more vigorous 77.

• The Spirit Nourishing Technique circulates foreign energy through the body before directing it into the Dou Crystal, simultaneously strengthening Dou Qi and the physical body 32.
• Ling can devour dangerous energies, purify them, and return them as usable Dou Qi; this process is used with Heavenly Flames, Divine Ice, Essence Blood, and Black Demonic Lightning 153 429 450 466.

Restoration

Xiao Ming frequently uses Qi Recovery Pills and healing pills to replenish expended Dou Qi during combat and cultivation 25 26.

• Fire Cloud Tea can accelerate Dou Qi circulation and is particularly useful to Dou Zhe-level cultivators 71.
• Ancient Dragon Essence Blood can rapidly restore vast quantities of Dou Qi while also tempering muscles and bones 386 388.
• The Bodhi Ancient Tree can restore depleted Dou Qi while expanding the body’s capacity to store it 503.

Limitations and Requirements

• Pill-assisted cultivation and rapid advancement can leave Dou Qi unstable; Xiao Ming repeatedly chooses suppression and consolidation over retaining short-term gains 16 32 187.
• Violent external energy can force open unused meridians, cause intense pain, or risk a failed breakthrough without careful control 78.
• Origin Qi is required to surpass Nine-Star Dou Sheng and enter the Dou Di realm; talent and ordinary Dou Qi cultivation alone cannot cross that final threshold 62 556.
• In the Great Thousand World, lower-plane Dou Qi is forcibly replaced by higher-grade Spirit Qi. The conversion is agonizing, can threaten a cultivator’s foundation, and ultimately reconstructs the body into a spiritual form 622 855 876.
