Cultivation is not solely measured by the quantity of Dou Qi. Its density, purity, storage capacity, and stability directly affect combat power.

• High-level cultivation methods provide substantially greater Dou Qi reserves than lower-ranked methods for cultivators of the same realm 7.
• The Spirit Nourishing Technique increases Dou Qi reserves, recovery ability, spiritual perception, and physical strength beyond ordinary peers, though its gains eventually diminish 6.

Cultivation Methods

Cultivation methods determine the manner in which Dou Qi is gathered, circulated, stored, and refined.

• Flame Refining Burning — a Yellow Tier High Grade fire-attributed cultivation method granted to Xiao Ming after his breakthrough to Dou Zhe 6.

Xiao Ming's Spirit can swallow external energies, refine them, and feed back purified Dou Qi.

• Dou Techniques — techniques direct Dou Qi through designated meridians and hand seals to produce specialized effects, such as the Three Flame Ethereal Seal 23.
• Formation fuel — multiple practitioners can pool their Dou Qi into formations or concentrated attacks, including Su Qian's vacuum Dou Qi ball 212.
• Physical enhancement — refined energy strengthens muscles, bones, organs, and resilience; Xiao Ming's body becomes capable of contending with a Tier 2 Magical Beast through physical strength alone 32.
• Flight — Flying Dou Techniques channel Dou Qi into wing tattoos or other manifestations, allowing aerial movement before reaching the realm normally associated with flight 78 127.

Upon entering the Great Thousand World, Dou Qi is gradually replaced by spiritual energy through the Spiritual Energy Tribulation.
