Background

Medusa ruled the Snake-People Race from the Tagor Desert and was feared throughout the surrounding empires for her beauty, ruthlessness, and personal strength. Humans were forbidden from the Snake-People Holy City, but she was willing to negotiate with Xiao Ming because of his value as a Grade Six Alchemist and the Snake-People’s need for medicinal pills 142 143.

Her first dealings with Xiao Ming were hostile and transactional. She offered a Sand Mandara in exchange for valuable ingredients and attempted to secure his future service as an alchemist, hoping he could eventually refine a Snake Saint Soul Advancement Pill for her evolution 143. After Xiao Ming captured the Bald Great Commander, she chose to exchange the Sand Mandara for her commander rather than risk further losses 146.

Medusa later assisted Xiao Yan’s escape from the Misty Cloud Sect because Xiao Yan had previously saved the Great Commander. Her cooperation was reluctant: she remained angered by Xiao Yan’s demands and interested in his Heavenly Flames for her own evolution 250. The Great Commander subsequently died during the conflict with the Soul Envoys, costing the Snake-People a major expert 253.

During the Snake-People’s war against the Chu Yun Empire, Medusa overused a strength-enhancing Secret Technique and suffered catastrophic meridian damage, severe external wounds, and ongoing Poison Dou Qi corruption. Xiao Ming destroyed the poison with Fallen Heart Flame and revived her with a Grade Seven Life Returning Pill, though lingering meridian damage made ordinary advancement to Dou Zong difficult 268 269.

Unable to rely on normal cultivation, Medusa borrowed Xiao Ming’s Green Lotus Core Flame to attempt the Snake-People’s dangerous bloodline evolution.
