Background

Dai Mubai originates from the Star Luo Empire and belongs to one of its great families. His family and Zhu Zhuqing's have a custom of intermarriage and select only their most outstanding members as heirs; Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing were engaged in childhood. 220

His elder brother, Dai Weisi, is both a rival and a direct threat to his position. Dai Mubai fled the Star Luo Empire because of this succession struggle, later returning to confront Dai Weisi during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Competition. 221

Dai Mubai is proud, competitive, and intensely battle-loving. He refuses to accept defeat easily: after losing the opening exchange with Tang San, he insists on continuing so that he can have a proper fight. 43 He readily challenges powerful opponents, including Yu Tianheng of the Imperial Fighting Team, to test whether the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon is stronger than his White Tiger. 143

His pride frequently makes him impulsive and abrasive. He provokes Blue Sunshine Academy, looks down on its students, and is prone to violence when frustrated. 81 His unresolved guilt and possessiveness toward Zhu Zhuqing also lead him to make poor decisions, including attempting to strike her after she rejects him. 74
