The four Control Towers located in Gate City stood in the east, south, west, and north.
Each was separated by an entire district.
In other words, one Control Tower stood on each of Gate City's First, Second, Third, and Fourth Streets, making the distances between them considerable.
To retake Gate City and liberate the occupied Control Towers, everyone had to set out simultaneously, conquer them simultaneously, and succeed in every single operation.
Otherwise, as long as even one Control Tower remained under the Witch Cult's control, Gate City would be sunk beneath the water.
Under those circumstances, Sylvia, Emilia, and Rem arrived before one of the Control Towers.
There, someone who seemed to have been waiting for a long time—or perhaps had run out of patience—slowly emerged from within the tower.
The moment they saw that person, Sylvia, Emilia, and Rem all tensed.
For no other reason than that person's appearance.
In a word, she was an aberration.
Judging by her build, she did seem to be a woman.
Yet that woman had wrapped her head in an extremely disorderly mess of bandages, revealing only a pair of eyes. She wore a black coat tightly wrapped around her body, while long, irregular chains were tied around both hands, their ends dragging along the ground and producing a clear scraping sound.
Without question, Sylvia, Emilia, and Rem had never seen such attire before.
Thus, there was no word besides aberration that could describe the person before them.
What made her seem truly different from them, a genuine aberration, were the eyes she left exposed.
Those eyes were filled with emotions so intense they could only be called madness.
"----He didn't come..."
A voice like an evil spirit's mutter slipped from her mouth.
"He didn't come... He didn't come... He didn't come...
