Background / History

Life in the Main God Space

Mo Xiao begins as a model young man whose outlook is destroyed by the Main God Space. Survival teaches him to exploit teammates and wait for stronger opponents to exhaust themselves before striking. In one mission, he kills several team members, waits until the captain and final boss are mortally wounded, then finishes both off. Despite a thousand-point penalty for killing the captain, he earns enough Reincarnation Points to purchase useful items 1.

A later recollection shows the captain ordering an injured Mo Xiao to lure werewolves into a trap. The captain breaks his forearm, only to see the slender arm gradually recover. After the battle, Mo Xiao retrieves a damaged silver longsword and approaches the battlefield while the mutilated captain begs him for rescue 411 412.

After his sixth mission, an Extreme Omega invasion triggers an emergency mission. Mo Xiao stays out of the fighting because he considers himself unqualified. The invader annihilates the Reincarnators and Sovereign Plaza; a mysterious light saves his remaining soul before the final attack 1.

Timeline Counterparts and Recovered Memories

At the Plane’s Peak, Mo Xiao encounters a female counterpart who accuses him of abandoning his original intention. He favors observing worlds and enjoying himself over pursuing an elusive truth. He also dismisses Kurumi’s chances of success, saying that millions of versions of himself have already walked that path 519.

A later account connects the remembered Mo Xiao identity to a causal loop involving an imitation of The Evil of This World. A bottle lost in a space storm travels backward through time and reaches the Main God, explaining its particular interest in Mo Xiao when the Main God Space is destroyed 878.

That account’s “Mo Xiao” later discovers the Main God’s remaining contingencies in the Battle Through the Heavens world. After breaking through in the Outer Domain, recovered memories reveal that the identity is actually Kurumi Tokisaki. The revelation causes an emotional collapse, followed by a desire to return home; after defeating the immediate enemy, she establishes the Pan-Continental Alliance with Red Queen 878.

Puppet Operations on the Island of the Gods

Kurumi recreates Mo Xiao as a puppet using materials from the Dou Qi Continent. The body initially serves as her alternate perspective, though she struggles to adjust to its height of 1.81 meters 856 857.

Mo Xiao enters the Island of the Gods through a spatial rift, observes Akatsuki Kojou’s battle and resurrection, and collects his blood. He then investigates the holy right arm supporting the island and attempts to replace it with another material. Red Queen warns that the island’s mass would crush the puppet without spatial support 857.

His intervention brings him into conflict with Axe Uncle and Asztarte, whom he overwhelms. Later, he defeats Duke Wat-ta with Heavenly Silver Fire and uses an Ancient Void Dragon familiar against the artificial island housing Naraku Veiler. He destroys Gardoš and the Queen Machine, but Naraku Veiler reappears 858 867.

By the fireworks festival, Mo Xiao operates independently as a modified True Spirit Fragment copy. He follows Red Queen’s assignments while remaining unaware of his constructed identity 871.

He subsequently rescues Aoba Asagi and Xiao Na from a hostile vampire. Giriola’s attempt to seduce him ends with her being knocked unconscious and stored in his ring; Mo Xiao later delivers her to Kurumi as a “gift” 898 899 902.

Wandering Swordsman

After entering another world, Mo Xiao’s magic power is heavily suppressed. Kurumi and Red Queen use an energy converter to replace it with energy compatible with the local environment 922.

He later adopts the appearance of an impoverished wandering swordsman while possessing GM Account statistics. The Black Scripture underestimates his rusty sword, despite Mo Xiao judging even its strongest present member easy to kill 964 972.

Arrested for suspicious behavior and possession of the Tetanus Blade, he challenges the Black Scripture outside the city. Kurumi prevents Zetsumetsumetsu from intervening 974.

Finale: Mo Xiao’s Game

At the Plane’s Peak, Kurumi meets Mo Xiao and Xiaomo. The Sovereign kneels before them as “Master,” and Xiaomo dismisses it with a glance. Mo Xiao offers to answer Kurumi’s questions before the script ends 1102.

Xiaomo explains that Mo Xiao created rules and scripts after becoming unable to uncover the Plane’s Peak’s secrets. He has experienced innumerable forms of existence, from living creatures to planets, universes, and particles, often suppressing his wider awareness to experience those forms fully 1102.

Kurumi is the third guest to reach this encounter. Two earlier guests lost Mo Xiao’s subsequent game. Another promising participant in the Sovereign script was killed by the Sovereign, prompting Mo Xiao’s involvement in the Destruction Sovereign’s space and Xiaomo’s decision to make the Sovereign behave more like an actor 1102.

Mo Xiao intends Kurumi to inherit control of the heavens while he explores the Endless Land. Xiaomo states that his choice of Kurumi was made on a whim 1102.

Appearance

  • Original body: Handsome, with sword-like eyebrows, a high nose bridge, slender fingers, and fair arms. His fine features and tattered clothing can give him a fragile, feminine appearance 411 412.
  • Black combat-suit appearance: Tall, with a close-fitting black suit and scratched black-patterned gold gloves that retain poisonous mist residue 357.
  • Recreated puppet: Black-haired, slightly gloomy, and handsome, with black eyes that become expressive after receiving power. Stands 1.81 meters tall 856 857.
  • Androgynous traits: Aoba notices a delicate face, an androgynous voice, and no visible Adam’s apple, leading her to interpret the puppet as a woman 899.
  • Swordsman disguise: Ordinary-looking, dressed in basic leather clothing, loose trousers, torn straw sandals, and a nylon-rope belt, carrying a rusty iron sword 964.
  • Finale appearance: A man whose face resembles the familiar Mo Xiao by roughly seventy or eighty percent 1102.

Personality

Mo Xiao’s original survival strategy is ruthless and opportunistic. He is willing to sacrifice teammates, kill weakened allies, and turn mission rules into manageable costs. Privately, however, he retains an enthusiastic devotion to Kurumi Tokisaki: his personal space is filled with her figures, posters, life-sized displays, and a statue 1.

The puppet incarnation is detached toward unfamiliar battles and contemptuous of opponents far below his strength. He nevertheless protects Aoba Asagi and cares about saving face. Romantic advances often leave him indifferent or confused rather than responsive 857 887 893 898 899 907.

The higher Mo Xiao is driven by boredom and amusement after an immeasurably long existence. His speech alternates between solemn explanation, jokes, and abrupt outbursts. Xiaomo repeatedly describes him as a long-lived lunatic, while Kurumi recognizes his exhaustion with experiences he has repeated countless times 1102.

Abilities & Skills

  • Spatial support is necessary to keep the puppet from being crushed beneath the island’s mass 857.

Flame Manipulation

  • Uses the Golden Emperor Burning Heaven Flame during spatial manipulation 857.
  • Defeats Duke Wat-ta and his familiar with a single breath of Heavenly Silver Fire 867.
  • Leaves a flame emblem on the wall during the holy-relic incident 858.

  • Uses it to destroy the artificial island containing Naraku Veiler 867.

Physical Combat and Regeneration

  • His injured forearm visibly regenerates after the captain breaks it 411.
  • Easily overpowers Asztarte and Axe Uncle; acknowledges Yukina’s spear while criticizing her skill 858.

Script and Timeline Control

  • Claims that timelines outside the First Generation and his counterpart’s era cannot stop him 519.
  • Creates the Sovereign script and divides it into upper and lower layers 1102.
  • Has experienced countless forms, deliberately blocking his wider capabilities to explore their sensations 1102.
  • Limit: Cannot destroy the Plane’s Peak or uncover its specific secrets. Xiaomo’s proposed explanation involving Origin Point quantities is explicitly conjectural 1102.

GM Account

  • Possesses maximum statistics with additional “+” indicators despite wearing poor equipment 964.
  • Perceives local opponents’ levels and considers Black Scripture members negligible threats 972.
  • Limit: Feels the world rejecting him and suspects that using more power will cause his expulsion 964.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Black combat suit — Developed by Red Queen; the recreated puppet wears a suit made through ordinary nano-crafting technology 357 856.
  • Black-patterned gold gloves — Retain poisonous mist residue after an encounter with the Sacred Armor Centipede King 357.
  • Damaged silver longsword — Retrieved during the werewolf mission recollection 412.

  • Energy converter — Supplies the puppet’s initial magic power and later converts that power into energy suited to another world 856 922.
  • Rusty iron sword / Tetanus Blade — The deliberately shabby weapon carried by his GM-powered swordsman appearance; its nickname does not diminish his ability to kill with it 964 972 974.

Relationships

  • Kurumi Tokisaki — Originally his idol; later the creator of his puppet body and the intended successor to his control of the heavens. Their deeper identity relationship is addressed in the finale without reducing them to wholly interchangeable individuals 1 856 871 1102.
  • Red Queen / Little Red — Develops equipment, provides intelligence and assignments, modifies the independent copy, and manages energy conversion 357 871 908 922.
  • Xiaomo — Long-standing companion who challenges his explanations and moderates his behavior. Kurumi perceives a family-like understanding between them 1102.
  • Main God / Sovereign — Initially the authority governing his missions; later tied to the scripts and contingencies surrounding his identity. Mo Xiao’s intervention contributes to the Sovereign becoming weaker 1 878 1102.
  • Aoba Asagi — Repeatedly protected by Mo Xiao. Develops strong sympathy for him after interpreting the puppet as a woman with a tragic past 898 899.
  • Akatsuki Kojou — A subject of blood collection and a potential acquisition target. Kojou is reluctant to become his enemy and is shocked by reports that Mo Xiao is female 857 900 902 908.
