He looked down at the human craftsmen gradually returning to the city and resuming its reconstruction, and a headache came over him.
He knew clearly that they had paid a tremendous price to track down the Gate of Foul Spirits, even traveling all the way to Lizardmen City in the northern reaches of the continent.
Yet the final result felt like a silent disappointment—an anticlimax with no explanation at all.
"What... shitty luck," he muttered.
"Ang, it's okay." Dana walked over and patted him on the shoulder.
"At least we killed that many Demons. Other than those massive Imperial legions, I'd say our team has more real combat experience against Demons than anyone."
"That somehow sounds even worse," Ang said, the corner of his mouth twitching.
Dana chuckled. "Fine, no more compliments."
Puli and the others behind them also came over to comfort him. "My lord, although we failed to find the Gate of Foul Spirits, we gained a great deal of practical experience, from tactics to magical systems. That's far better than empty theory."
"That does count as good news." Ang nodded. "With this experience, you may have an easier time when you enter the God-Demon Battlefield."
