Good People Should Be Pointed At With Guns?

Downton certainly didn't know what Bartel was thinking, but watching Victor Zsasz, who looked furious yet moved with such fluid efficiency, he couldn't help but flash an appreciative smile.

Unlike himself just moments ago, Victor appeared to have charged in with the same reckless abandon, leading the vanguard with a bold, head-on approach.

But Downton saw clearly that while Zsasz seemed brash on the surface, he was actually incredibly meticulous.

He never kept himself in a straight line with the enemy gunmen, instead hugging walls, corners, broken doorways, or the rows of stacked washing machines.

Though his stride looked casual, he stayed pressed against those obstacles at all times, ensuring he could find cover the instant any trouble arose.

Of course, most of the time, Victor Zsasz didn't even need cover, because his eyes were too sharp and his gun was too fast.

His eyes, unburdened by eyebrows, were as keen as a hawk's; whenever someone appeared in his field of vision, Zsasz's bullets would find their way into the enemy's forehead or chest before they could even react.

Just like that, the laundry lounge that Downton hadn't been able to clear even after dying once was easily handled by Zsasz alone.

After slaughtering everyone in the lounge, he waved his hand forward, and the hundreds of gunmen behind him immediately split into six or seven squads, heading off in different directions.

As for Zsasz, his target was the underground passage, because according to his intelligence, Yuri Dimitrov was currently hiding down there.

If it were any other gang, Zsasz might have worried about them running away.

But a Russian gang?

When these Russians had their lair bombed, they would never retreat; it was their tradition!

However, before diving into the underground passage, Zsasz still had to deal with another nuisance.

Damn it, the police were here!

Barely a minute after Zsasz and his men arrived, Gordon pulled up with three or four patrol cars.

With just one glance, Gordon locked onto Downton, and his heart sank with a heavy thud.

"Damn it, you again. Is there ever a moment where you aren't causing trouble? Or is the price of your resurrection that you must constantly stir up chaos, you bastard!"

While aiming at Downton, Gordon moved through the crowd, casting a sharp look at the Falcone Family subordinates.

As Gordon observed, Downton amusedly raised the muzzle of his submachine gun.

"I should be the one saying that, Detective Gordon! Oh, my apologies, I forgot you're a Deputy Detective—a deputy, ha! Is the Gotham Police Department so short-staffed that you're the only one they send to catch me every time, Gordon? If you're being bullied by your captain and commissioner, you can just say so; why else would they dump all the dirty, exhausting work on you?"

As he spoke, Downton chuckled and stepped right up to Gordon.

Watching Downton close the distance, Gordon couldn't help but take a step back, but after that single step, he adjusted his mindset and stood his ground.

Downton kept walking forward, pressing against Gordon's muzzle until the barrel was pushed right against his own chest.

After leisurely blowing a puff of air at Gordon's pistol, Downton turned to the officers behind him and said with a grin.

"Guys, do you really like having a boss like Gordon? It must be exhausting following him around, circling Gotham a dozen times a day without catching a single criminal, only to rack up countless autopsy reports, ha. If you ask me, the GPD should just be disbanded and renamed the Gotham Forensic Bureau; wouldn't that be more fitting? You little Smurfs can only catch rookies like me who work alone. Look around you—the ones firing guns are Falcone's men. I'd love to see if you actually have the guts to arrest them, ha!"

At this, Downton spread his arms with a laugh, took two steps to the left, and gestured for Gordon to proceed.

At the same time, Victor Zsasz, having noticed the police, happened to walk toward them.

From a distance, Zsasz shot a look of pure disgust at Gordon and the officers.

He flicked his pistol toward Gordon and said with contempt, "Get lost, the Falcone Family is handling business here! What the hell, why are you here so fast today? Shouldn't you usually wait at least ten minutes?"

At this, Zsasz suddenly remembered something and curled his lip at Downton.

"Damn it, you're the one who led these cops here, aren't you? They're tracking the attack you pulled earlier! I knew it—these losers shouldn't have arrived this quickly, or they're just going to make things incredibly awkward!"

As he spoke, Zsasz raised both his guns to the sky.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After firing several shots into the air, Zsasz leveled his guns at the police officers and roared at them with a cold sneer.

"I said it once, the Falcone Family is handling business here—everyone else, get the hell out! If I were you, I'd go across the street, buy some fried chicken and coffee, and watch the Dimitrov Family get torn apart while you eat! Are you all deaf? Get out!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Another series of shots rang out, and finally, someone in the police line lowered their head.

"Cough, cough, Commissioner Gordon, Boss Falcone... he's just clearing out a criminal element for Gotham, that's all."

"Yeah, Commissioner, the Dimitrov Family are all damn scumbags anyway."

"Commissioner, my wife just gave birth, I need to take some leave!"

"My mortgage and car payments depend on the bonuses Boss Falcone donates to the precinct every month, I'm heading across the street."

"Who wants fried chicken? My treat today!"

The police officers looked at one another, and before Gordon could issue an order, they had all vanished.

Left alone in the blink of an eye, Gordon could only grit his teeth in helplessness.

Across from him, Victor Zsasz stepped forward and tapped Gordon's shoulder with the butt of his gun.

"Commissioner Gordon, Boss Falcone has always held you in high regard; you and our family have had some very pleasant collaborations, after all. So, how about you cooperate? Your daughter is about to start college, and she's going to need tuition, right?"

"Shut your mouth. I have never taken a single cent from Falcone. That routine doesn't work on me!"

Gordon roared in anger, then gripped his pistol tightly.

Watching the furious Gordon, Victor Zsasz grinned and pointed his muzzle toward the police officers across the street.

"You haven't taken any, but what about them? At least consider your subordinates and colleagues. You..."

"Enough!"

Suddenly, Downton flew into the air and delivered a fierce kick, slamming his foot into Victor's backside!

Victor was sent flying in an instant, and he turned back to look at Downton with a bewildered expression. "What the hell are you doing? We're on the same side, why are you kicking me!"

"I'll kick whoever the hell I want. If you've got the guts, kill me then!"

Downton flipped Zsasz the middle finger, then pointed his gun toward the laundry mat in the distance. "Do what you're supposed to do. Corner those bastards from the Dimitrov Family, especially Yuri Dimitrov. Go!"

"You...!!!"

Watching Downton's increasingly cold expression, Zsasz spat in dissatisfaction and returned the middle finger. "I'm going to kill you one of these days!"

"Three times, five times, even a hundred or eighty times—be my guest, buddy!"

Downton gave Zsasz another annoyed kick, making the veins on Zsasz's body bulge with rage. However, after thinking it over, he chose to head toward the laundry mat, taking his anger out on the Dimitrov Family instead.

Watching Victor Zsasz's retreating back, Downton grinned at the frowning, contemplative Gordon. "Gordon, do you think a good man like you deserves to have a gun pointed at him by a bastard like Zsasz? Want to guess why I kicked the hell out of him? Because until yesterday, I was a bleeding heart just like you, haha!"

As he spoke, Downton laughed and leaned in close to Gordon, slinging an arm around his shoulder as if they were old friends. "See? The bleeding heart version of me already died in this city of Gotham, and so, having crawled back out of hell, I've finally gained some insight. Only by being worse than them can you manage them more effectively. As long as they think I'm too radical, they'll naturally become the conservatives. This, my friend, is what you call two negatives making a positive! So, Gordon, try to understand me and get closer to me. They say I'm a madman. But I think... I'm the only one who sees things clearly!"

I don't know if I can make it onto the recommendation list this week. If I don't, then it's all over, sigh...

Please keep reading; everyone, you must keep following the story. Our performance is right on the edge of the trial period; we could make it up at any time, or we could fall off the list just as easily.

I will keep a steady mindset and update properly. Let's work hard together. Love you all!
