Background / History

Bibi Dong bore twins Qian Ren Xue and Qian Ren Shang after being violated by Qian Xun Ji. In the delivery room, she wept over having “borne children for [her] enemy” and mourned Yu Xiaogang, the man she loved. Her resentment toward her circumstances became inseparable from her treatment of the children 3.

She maintained an outward appearance of conscientious motherhood, earning Qian Xun Ji’s approval, increased cultivation resources, restoration as Spirit Hall Saintess, and a promise of future authority. Privately, however, she regarded love and affection as false and devoted herself to power 7 31. She eventually traded Qian Ren Xue to Qian Daoliu in exchange for authority over Martial Soul Hall and the position of Pope 31.

During Qian Ren Shang’s childhood, Bibi Dong’s treatment of him was abusive enough that Gu Yuena later described him as having faced a mother who had always wanted him dead. Qian Ren Xue, meanwhile, spent years seeking Bibi Dong’s affection and joining in bullying Qian Ren Shang, only to receive little genuine care herself 123 126.

After learning that Qian Ren Shang was alive, Bibi Dong’s suppressed emotions erupted into instability. She alternated between wanting him to return as her beloved child and condemning his birth as a mistake. Her feelings toward Qian Ren Shang are deeply contradictory. She abused and rejected him, later sought to reclaim him as a tool, and repeatedly lashed out when he refused her control. Yet his survival, apparent death, and later endangerment provoke extreme grief and fury, revealing an attachment she cannot manage honestly 124 129 266.

Bibi Dong similarly manipulates Qian Ren Xue’s longing for maternal affection, promising recognition and love if she defeats Qian Ren Shang. Despite this, she later risks herself to save Qian Ren Xue from Lucifer, showing that her maternal instincts persist beneath her cruelty 138 354.
