Background / History
Assault on Ice City
Tang Hao first appears when he attacks the Spirit Hall Branch in Ice City. He manifests the Clear Sky Hammer, nine soul rings—including a red 100,000-year ring—and the Divine Slaughter's Domain before enlarging his hammer to strike the branch. He declares that he has come to reclaim what belongs to him, but his indiscriminate attack also endangers ordinary people near and inside the building. 2 5
The destruction of the Ice City branch becomes the basis of Shi Yueyi's hatred toward him. Years later, she identifies herself as the child present during the attack and pursues revenge for it. 330
Tang San's Guardian
Tang Hao keeps watch over Tang San from a distance. At Nuoding Academy, he finds Yu Xiaogang mishandling Tang San's cultivation after Tang San's Second Soul Ring degrades into a ten-year ring. Tang Hao violently reprimands Yu Xiaogang, warning him that his position as Tang San's teacher carries responsibility and demanding that he properly guide Tang San's Twin Martial Souls. 34
After leaving the academy, Tang Hao visits a hidden chamber in Holy Soul Village. The chamber contains Ah Yin's Blue Silver Emperor soul bone, while a golden-threaded stalk of Blue Silver Grass responds when he tells it of Tang San's cultivation problem. 34
Ah Yin's Loss and Conflict with Spirit Hall
When the hidden chamber is destroyed, Tang Hao discovers blue-green scales and poison traces and immediately blames Dugu Bo. Grief-stricken over Ah Yin, he follows the Blue Silver Emperor aura to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. 45 46
There, Tang Hao sees what he believes to be Ah Yin's soul bone and concludes that Dugu Bo absorbed it. He attacks the already weakened Poison Douluo with the Clear Sky Hammer, Divine Slaughter's Domain, Great Sumeru Hammer, and detonated soul rings, killing him. 48
Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo restrain Tang Hao with their Martial Soul Fusion Skill, while Qian Renxue and Shi Yueyi arrange for the event to be blamed on the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Hao escapes only after detonating another soul ring, leaving him increasingly weakened. 49
Defeat and Survival
Golden Crocodile Douluo later overwhelms Tang Hao in battle. Tang Hao detonates his seventh soul ring to attempt an underground escape, but ultimately loses limbs containing soul bones; the resulting damage reduces him from level 95 to level 69. 93 95
Even after losing both legs, Tang Hao uses his ninth soul skill to stop his bleeding and treat his wounds. He places himself inside a water vat and uses the Clear Sky Hammer to dig through the ground, escaping while under surveillance. 174
Tang San eventually finds his disabled father in a vat near a waterfall. Tang Hao has only one arm remaining, and the Clear Sky Hammer rests beside him. 231
Final Pursuit and Death
Tang Hao later reunites with Tang San and supports his decision to cultivate the Clear Sky Hammer early. He follows Tang San toward the Soul Master Tournament and spends more than ten days digging a tunnel into the competition grounds. 305 307 325
Shi Yueyi intercepts him underground and repeatedly defeats him with water- and lightning-attributed power. She heals his injuries only to wound him again, forcing the weakened Tang Hao to crawl through the tunnel toward her. 330 331
Shi Yueyi ultimately beheads Tang Hao outside the tournament grounds, publicly citing his unlawful entry into the Heaven Dou military camp and the danger he posed to competing students. A kneeling bronze statue of him is installed before Douluo Hall within two days of his death. 332 337
Appearance
After his injuries, Tang Hao is depicted as severely unkempt and physically ruined, yet still accompanied by his massive Clear Sky Hammer. 231
- Long, filthy, untrimmed hair, often wet and hanging over his eyes. 231
- Heavy stubble and a hoarse voice. 231
- Loses both legs and eventually retains only one arm. 174 231
- Travels and hides inside a water vat, using his hammer to move or dig underground. 174 292
- Wields an enormous hammer capable of expanding to nearly one hundred meters through his Haotian True Body. 2 92
Personality
Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San. His anger at Yu Xiaogang stems from Tang San receiving an inadequate Second Soul Ring, and he remains willing to confront danger or flee with Tang San when he believes Spirit Hall is targeting his son. 34 306
His devotion to Ah Yin dominates many of his decisions. Her apparent loss drives him into panic, grief, and rage; it also leads him to attack Dugu Bo without confirming the full situation. 45 48
He is proud, impulsive, and willing to damage himself for immediate power. Tang Hao repeatedly detonates soul rings through the Great Sumeru Hammer, even when his existing internal injuries make the technique dangerous. 48 49 93
Despite his decline, Tang Hao has extraordinary survival instincts. After losing his legs and rank, he treats his own wounds, evades capture, and continues traveling through tunnels with the Clear Sky Hammer. 174 325
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Hao's Tool Martial Soul is an immense hammer known for overwhelming weight, power, and destructive force. 2 92
- Can expand to colossal size, including a hammer roughly one hundred meters long during his assault on Ice City. 2
- Can manifest as the Haotian True Body, allowing Tang Hao to fight with a nearly hundred-meter Clear Sky Hammer. 92
- Remains useful even after his rank loss, enabling him to excavate long underground tunnels. 174 325
Great Sumeru Hammer and Ring Explosion
Tang Hao mastered the Clear Sky Sect's ring-explosion technique before becoming a Titled Douluo. 330
- Detonates soul rings to forcefully raise his combat power for a decisive strike. 48 49
- Used the technique alongside his first five soul rings against Dugu Bo. 48
- Detonated his sixth and seventh rings during escape attempts. 49 93
- Causes severe backlash; Tang Hao's internal injuries and diminishing strength limit how many rings he can safely detonate. 48 49
Divine Slaughter's Domain
Tang Hao can release a killing-intent-based domain while wielding the Clear Sky Hammer. 2 48
- Envelops a battlefield during large-scale attacks. 2
- Amplifies Tang Hao's killing intent and supports his offensive charge. 48
- Its amplification can be countered by sufficiently advanced power, as Shi Yueyi's water-and-lightning Soul Power demonstrates. 330
Hundred-Thousand-Year Ninth Soul Ring
Tang Hao's ninth ring is a 100,000-year ring connected to Ah Yin and is the power he considers most visually and personally significant. 34 92
- Its associated ninth soul skill can heal his wounds and forcibly stop bleeding after catastrophic injury. 174
- The ring's power is dangerous to detonate excessively, as doing so could destabilize its red coloration and worsen Tang Hao's already damaged body. 48
Spiritual Presence
Following his execution, Tang Hao continues to exist within Tang San's Spiritual Sea. 347 354
- Serves as Tang San's designated trial opponent and Great Priest during a divine trial. 347
- Can contribute Spiritual Power to Tang San's Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. 354
- Warns Tang San of approaching threats while Tang San is in Slaughter City. 386
