A Beautiful State of Mind

Having finished with the Defenders trio, who had discovered that Cloak and Dagger had been captured by The Hand, let us now turn our attention to Moon Knight on the other side.

Moon Knight, whose real name was Marc Spector, had once served in the United States Marine Corps and joined the CIA before becoming an independent mercenary. While protecting an archaeologist in Egypt, he was gravely wounded after being betrayed by another mercenary and was placed upon an altar to Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon.

There, he heard Khonshu's voice and made a contract with him, becoming Khonshu's avatar and taking responsibility for protecting travelers beneath the moonlight.

Also, he suffered from severe Dissociative Identity Disorder and delusions. Not only did he have multiple personalities, but he could also hear the voices of his other identities. Aside from his primary personality, the three that appeared most often were the timid millionaire and entrepreneur Steven Grant, the streetwise taxi driver Jake Lockley with his somewhat explosive temper, and Mr. Knight, who handled investigations like a detective.

Oh, and Khonshu's voice was still in his head.

"A ruined city, yet they still made it so damned flashy."

As Moon Knight spoke, he used his grappling hook to yank a Hand ninja in front of him, then sent him flying with a powerful punch. These Immortal Ninjas did not even leave behind corpses after death; they merely dissolved into a puff of green smoke, leaving him no chance to mark their foreheads with a moon symbol.

Then he leaped forward and pounced onto another ninja's back, locking both arms tightly around his neck from behind. "Look into my eyes!"

The Immortal Ninja's eyes nearly popped out as Moon Knight snapped his neck. Until his final moment, he could not understand
