History

Foundation and early development

Tang Lan formed the Tang Sect to control the circulation of cultivation methods and firearm Soul Tools while limiting the risk of their techniques being leaked. He regarded formal sect loyalty and restrictions on transmitting secret arts as essential protection for these assets. 34

Tang San became First Disciple despite his hesitation over the sect sharing techniques associated with his former life. Xiao Wu was recognized as the Second Senior Sister, while Zhu Zhuqing joined as the third disciple and received two Python Revolvers as an entry gift. 35

The sect quickly developed a defined hierarchy. Zhao Wuji was accepted as Martial Hall Master, while Tang San was appointed Vice Sect Leader and directed toward hidden-weapon and armament research rather than sect leadership. 41 44

Public influence in the Heaven Dou Empire

The Tang Sect distributed the Tang Sect Encyclopedia, a work covering Soul Master cultivation, Soul Beasts, and Soul Ring selection. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect was to distribute it across the continent, and the first layer of the Nine Yang Divine Skill was made public alongside it. 47

Tang Lan later announced a network of Tang Sect Academies intended to provide free education and cultivation assistance. The plan promised artificial Innate Full Soul Power on a large scale and drew both popular support and noble opposition. 284

After the Tang Sect's conflict with Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu agreed to cede Spirit Hall branch halls in the Heaven Dou Empire and provide accumulated materials. Tang Lan also used the resulting Sect Ranking Competition to position the Tang Sect alongside—or above—Spirit Hall in the continental order. 316

Decline and later revival

Later accounts describe the Tang Sect as an ancient organization that had declined into obscurity centuries earlier. Its surviving mountain headquarters retained a mountain-protection array, an Ancestral Hall, and thirty-six smaller halls enshrining former sect masters. 930 931 940

Tang Ya led a revival centered around the old Tang Sect site. She recruited students from Shrek Academy, welcomed He Caitou as a Soul Tool specialist, and brought Tang Lan and other members to restore and occupy the abandoned headquarters. 899 917 931

Cloud Top Abode became an affiliated branch after its leaders, Red Lotus and Yuan Yan, pledged allegiance to Tang Sect. Tang Ya initially described the revived sect as having only around a dozen members, but its access to techniques, resources, and powerful combatants attracted further recruits. 940 954

Rise in the Dou Ling Empire

Tang Sect established a branch in Luyuan City after defeating the Mad Lion Sect, Purple Bamboo Pavilion, and Wind Moon Tower. It recruited new members through loyalty assessments, accepted Chen Ju and later Chen Gong as high-level personnel, and used the Heart of the Earth to establish a protective formation. 949 955 982

When allied mid-sized sects attacked Tang City, Tang Ya, Bei Bei, Ma Xiaotao, Huo Yuhao, and other Tang Sect and Shrek members held the city until Tang Lan returned. His arrival ended the battle and compelled enemy leaders to submit. 1135 1139

The sect subsequently absorbed defeated factions, accepted merchant guilds and sects as affiliates, and became a dominant force in the Dou Ling Empire. Affiliated groups were required to preserve their own legacies while obeying Tang Sect deployment orders. 1155 1184 1185
